Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The minute I walked into The Pebble, I felt like I was home. It is a beautifully decorated house, very warm, inviting and cozy. The bedroom was first class. Our first evening there, I asked Liz, the B&B owner, if she would be ok with us moving in! Liz and David are so welcoming, fun, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast, was amazing! David’s eggs Benedict were devine! You must ask about the story behind the name of the B&B; so beautiful and romantic. I would conclude in saying that this is by far, the best B&B i have ever stayed in!

Property's Favourite Review
On a recent road trip that included Halifax Nova Scotia, we chose the Pebble B&B as our base for exploring Halifax. We did not regret that choice. The setting on side street in a quiet neighborhood made for a relaxing stay at the property and the location was perfect for getting to and from the city center and other nearby sites. Our hosts were friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. The friendly banter around the breakfast table with other guests and our hosts was lively and enjoyable. The accommodation was excellent as were the wonderful breakfasts. If Halifax is included in future travel plans we will stay at the Pebble again.

Liz & David do not just aim to meet expectations, they aim to exceed all expectations and never deliver anything less. The Pebble is beautifully designed and comfortably equipped with the finest of bedding and bath products. Their hospitality is heart-warming, and they are both very talented in the kitchen where they make everything from scratch. I could not imagine traveling to Nova Scotia and staying anywhere other than The Pebble. I’m looking forward to returning for a fourth time next summer. Donna, Aspen, CO

From the warm welcome upon arriving at their beautiful bed and breakfast, to her engaging stories and genuine interest and care in your well being, Liz and her family make your stay at the Pebble the most memorable part of your trip to Halifax. Located in a quiet neighbourhood near the water and just a short walk from Dalhousie University and Kings College, there is nothing that has not been looked after by Liz with extreme care. From the lovely room decor and high class amenities to the delicious homemade breakfasts that are served to you in the cozy dining room; Liz goes above and beyond to ensure that your needs are fully meet and your expectations are exceeded! Thank you Liz for another wonderful stay from my whole family to yours.

I've stayed at hotels, Air BnBs and boutique BnBs during my travels. While I have always enjoyed travelling to new places, my discriminating taste in lodgings, has often led to disappointment even in those hotels that are rated highly for luxury. The Pebble is simply the highest quality in a meticulously designed, carefully curated and impeccably maintained BnB experience. From the moment you walk through the lovely arched doorway, you feel your senses alight in the delicate fragrances of citrus, warm candle light and beautifully appointed décor. The ultimate highlight is the warm welcome of the hosts - Liz and David. You are made to feel like family, greeted after your weary travels with enthusiasm and care. Careful consideration has been put into every aspect of guest experience, from how furniture and lighting are arranged, artful cabinetry, window treatments, multiple French doors leading out onto cozy nooks of the gorgeous grounds, heated floors, spa like baths, beautiful rooms with luxury linens, candles, artwork, plush robes and toiletries. Everything is thought through and everything is maintained so well day after day. Liz and David's effort to curate every aspect of a guest's experience meticulously, is evident in even the smallest details like the placement of candles, choice of cutlery, linens and books. While a picture might say a thousand words, no picture can truly communicate the breadth of the luxe experience of staying at the Pebble. And no place might ever come close to bringing Liz's unrivaled Irish hospitality.

Our trip to the Maritimes was capped off with a night at the Pebble. Right from the moment we met to the moment we left, Liz and her husband Dave were the most wonderful hosts! Liz’s spitfire Irish personality made our stay!!! The accommodations themselves were outstanding with fine attention to detail and the most cozy hygee surroundings. Warm down comforters, candles, beautiful scents and touches everywhere. The love put into this place shows in every nook and cranny. The breakfast was healthy and decadent at the same time. Thank you Liz, for your hospitality. This Saskatchewanian will show up again with her Baileys at breakfast!

A high end B&B with charming hosts (Liz and David) who hold themselves to a very high standard of hospitality. The rooms are lovely, recently renovated. Breakfast is very nice, customised if you have dietary restrictions. Liz is a very engaging hostess: draws you in and gets to know you intimately, which for us is a huge part of staying in a B&B (the getting-to-know-your-hosts part). Very lovely large house, view of the Bay and a well appointed sitting room to relax in. They have their liqueurs and port out for you to enjoy, extraordinarily generous. Liz also makes it clear that you can use her kitchen to brew tea, essentially her attitude is that it's your house as well. Full of advice of what to see in the city and where to eat. She can get you reservations at the good restaurants that tend to be booked up. We took her suggestion for 2 of our dinners during our 3 days (one in Halifax and one in Peggy's Cove) and were not disappointed. The third we did not (was an impromptu night out) and regretted it. The O'Carrolls have been in this house for 25 years and have clearly been constantly investing in it. Liz makes up the room every day (you'd be surprised at how few B&Bs still do this; we are B&B veterans and have stayed at dozens over the years in the US and Canada...) Would stay here again in a heartbeat. We stayed here 3 days (longest stay during our NS road trip) and no regrets.

Looking at the reviews already written for The Pebble confirms and describes our wonderful stay just a few weeks ago. We would return to Halifax for no other reason than to experience again the absolute joy and pleasure of being guests of Liz and David at their beautiful B and B.

Staying at the pebble for our first time was truly a blessing. For ease, let us list some of the important items upfront. The home is beautiful, beds are comfortable, luxurious bathrooms, breakfasts were local, fresh and incredibly delicious (we are foodies - you can’t get breakfast like this other places) and the neighborhood is adorable / perfectly located for visiting Halifax and other popular sights. Our room also had water views. The showers were a treat, with plenty of space, great water pressure, and high-end Molten & Brown products. Our room was also refreshed each day with fresh pressed linens like at a five star hotel. It quickly became clear to us how much love and care has gone into both the home itself and also the experience of staying there. We enjoyed the social areas out on the patio in the morning and in the living room at night beside the complimentary bar, browsing through a wide selection of cool books. Now for some of the intangibles. My wife and I are pretty social, which Liz must have picked up on quickly having hosted many people over the years. So we got to know her and David on the first day over some homemade scones / jam and freshly brewed tea. For me at least, sometimes I’ll shy away from chatting too much, but I’m so glad we didn’t. We left the pebble feeling like we found a home in Halifax and having made two new friends. I’m not joking when I say my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised when we found out our ferry was cancelled and we would be staying another night at the pebble. There are so many subtle touches about this place it’d be hard to express it all in words, but in short we highly recommend it for anyone and hope to visit again in the future!
