great location close to all relevant attractions and restaurants.
It's clearly catering to the club crowd. The front desk is the bar and the front desk staff are skilled bartenders. They make traditional and signature cocktails the right way, none of that lime bar mix garbage. There was a live DJ spinning in the lobby/bar. Lots of comfortable seating.
The room itself has a kind of industrial aesthetic, but not a cold one. To maximize space, the room has a host of hooks and shelving instead of a closet. The TV is huge and really nice, it's easy to access streaming or connect your own device. I especially loved the bathroom, which is fully tiled with a big walk-in shower and a sliding door.
My only complaint, and the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, was noise. The music from the bar was loud, and even though I was on the 7th floor I could still hear it until after midnight. Probably because my room was at the front of the hotel directly above the lobby, so the music wafted up to the window. The heat/ventilation is also really loud.
Very very cool and different style of Hotel, not your run of a mill Hotel thats for sure.
You check in at the bar!
Very new hotel, they just opened not so long ago, so i understand why certain hings will take longer then normal and there could be more mistakes then normal, like check out took a bit to long, the bartender did not know how to make certain drinks, or know which glass to serve them in.
The conference room we booked did not have table plugs, speaker or camera tv system, HDMI cable to cast laptop on Screen was very short, not really any instructions found anywhere, it still felt that the conference room was still not completed yet.
Rooms were very different, no desk for me to work on my computer, no chair either, stayed in a 1 queen bedroom, I did like the type of decor they had in there.
Lots of board games and arcade style games in the lobby to entertain yourself with, breakfast was decent, and they give free candy snacks during the day at the bar!
Ask the front desk that you would like to see the secret lobby, entrance is hidden behind a book case.
Shoutout to Stephen the Bartender, who not only made sure we were well-hydrated but also let us snag an extra Moxy the Moose plushie for our little one at home. (Seriously, Stephen, you’re a legend!) We arrived early, and they didn’t just accommodate us—they welcomed us with open arms, a drink in hand, and a jar of gummy worms big enough to swim in.
This place is a playground for both kids and adults. Giant Uno? Check. Secret room? Double check. Swings, TV that you can control (and by "you," I mean your child who has now become the unofficial lobby DJ)? Check, check, and check! Everything is close enough that parents can sip on a cocktail while the kids tire themselves out playing games and discovering hidden treasures.
There is alot of construction going on nearby, which made getting to the waterfront feel like an obstacle course. No fridges in the rooms meant our leftover Häagen-Dazs from the grab and go had to be sacrificed to the gods of room temperature. Also, no happy hour or kids' menu at the restaurant was a bit of a bummer, but honestly, the complimentary coffee bar in the morning and the sheer joy of watching our son unlock the secret room made up for it.
The Moxy Halifax is a #neurodivergent #parents dream come true. Thank you for designing a hotel that not only provides novelty but also a space for my child to stim, regulate, and unwind after a long day of travel.
Thank you for making our travel easy and thinking outside of the box. You have gained new travelers for life who will choose you over the competition whenever it’s available.
This hotel has some fun decor, with cool elevators and the lobby is designed as a cool hang out spot for the guests with games, bar and music.
We stayed here for two nights while visiting family and exploring Halifax and surrounding areas.
Staff were very friendly and we got upgraded which was truly appreciated.
Welcome drinks are a nice touch.
We loved finishing off our nights in the cool hotel bar! Daniel is a great server! Abi is the absolute BEST bar manager and mixologist ever! Got to sample a few of his delectable creations! We also loved being served by Wing, another amazing bartender, always service with a smile and she even surprised us with some meringue bites for our anniversary! This bar is cozy and comfy at the same time! Perfect way to cap off our nights! Thank you Moxy! We will be back!
Unfortunately, the GM there Kelvin is NOT that guy!
When 2am came around and it was time for drinks to be put away..... he approached our group with such aggression that we were all put off ever coming back.
Other staff members were great!
Just the one bad apple made us uncomfortable and we didn't go back for food and drink again.
It is also the law according to Kelvin that you're not allowed to take drinks to your room, so consider this when choosing a Hotel.
I would never go back or recommend based on the management.
"Take the express bus from the airport to Scotia Square for <$5. The hotel is a 5 min walk from the bus stop."Read full review
