The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites boasts a historic and elegant atmosphere that is consistently praised, with its lavishly decorated lobby and spotless rooms often highlighted by travelers. The hotel's prime location garners appreciation for its convenience to Halifax's attractions. Guests enjoy the comfortable beds and the cleanliness of both rooms and public areas, though the rooms' soundproofing and contemporary appeal sometimes receive criticism. While the service is generally commended for being attentive, some guests have pointed out inconsistencies. The amenities are well-received, despite remarks on dated aspects and additional fees for parking and pets.

We had a great stay at the Lord Nelson. The location is excellent, close to Dalhousie University, restaurants, shopping, and the Public Gardens. The rooms are modern and clean. The aetvice is friendly, and the Arms Pub is very good!

My stay at Lord Nelson hotel was a wonderful experience. I decided to have my birthday gathering there this year so I went to the park suite , it is a corner suite Located top floor with two big rooms one being a bedroom and The other being a living room area. I was able to play my music without any complaints, the walls of this hotel are rock solid from it being an original hotel in Halifax that sound did not travel far outside my door . My birthday party was a success and I will definitely be revisiting the Lord Nelson Hotel and this exact suite again in the future. I had a perfect birthday at the Lord Nelson hotel. The staff was very friendly and there is no hassle at the front desk checking in. I love this place it is elegant and classy and all of the things that a person would want during their stay away from home.
I highly recommend the Lord Nelson Hotel.

We loved this hotel and glad we choose to stay there.
It is a beautiful charming hotel, the staff are fantastic and so nice and friendly.
We decided to stay here because i had to get surgery done and we wanted something close to the hospital and this was it.
We stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. The price was great especially with the medical discount and free parking that was included.
This hotel is in a beautiful location, lots of restaurants to choose from and the spring gardens are right across the street to enjoy and to unwind.
The rooms are very nice the beds are very comfortable and you can hardly hear any noise whatsoever Which was a plus for us.
If you decide to stay here you have to check out the restuarant "The Arms.
The food and staff are amazing.
They will answer any question you may have. There nachos and ceasar salad was absolutely delish.Just make sure your not wearing anything tight..lol..because the nachos and ceasar salad is huge and extremely filling .
They also have great breakfasts..what we loved when we ordered our breakfasts they would always but fresh fruit also on the plate. Which was nice and refreshing.
So if you are looking for a beaitiful charmimg quiet hotel that has great staff, great food and great rooms and a great location this is the place to check out.

Recently we stayed again at the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites in downtown Halifax. Our room with king sized bed overlooked the beautiful Public Gardens and our special rate (for those with medical appointments) included free parking and a boxed lunch breakfast. This wonderful old hotel greets you with marble and polished brass accents in the lobby and elevators. I want to especially commend the absolutely excellent customer service provided by the Front Desk staff. They couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Special kudos go to Christopher and Shandell - both of them were totally professional AND warmly accommodating. We will always put the Lord Nelson at the top of the list when considering staying in. Halifax.

10 out 10. Way to go Lord Nelson. Clean, very well appointed guest rooms, top notch staff (all)
I am very fussy about hotels and I think that's because I worked the industry for 15+ years and traveled extensively. I admit I am a bit jaded when it comes to cleanliness in guestrooms. Our room from time of entry to my inspection ( It's what I do every time, every hotel, every stay) was 100% clean. Rooms are modern, classy and well appointed, and also offered a few pleasant surprises such as the well appointed coffee station, mini fridge, beds.......(heavenly) no comforters. Just clean, crisp white sheets made to perfection. Easy clean laminate floors. (no carpet) Perfect business desk. Lovely reading chair, and awesome large screen TV mounted on wall. Bravo Lord Nelson GM and staff. You do it RIGHT. We will be back soon.

Right from the phone call to book a room to checkout was absolutely wonderful!!! I would recommend this place to Anyone and Everyone!!
The incredibly helpful and sweet lady who answered the phone when I called transferred me to the reservation desk where I was on hold for a minute Max and then she offered to take care of me instead of leaving me on hold any longer. When she found out we were there because of business at the hospital she let me know that they offer a discount for that. So we got a discount on the price of a VERY comfortable, spacious room but, also, they have free parking and a boxed breakfast and their regular room rate was Very reasonable already!
I almost cried with relief when we arrived after a long, stressful day at the hospital where my son was having surgery due to how Smooth the check-in was and how incredibly Great the ladies on the front desk were with not only my husband and I but our 6yr old as well.
The beds were comfortable. Checkout is later in the day and the Arms restaurant downstairs is open early and closes late. We each ordered their club with fries and not only were they incredibly tasty but they came earlier than expected as well.
Our Whole experience was wonderful from start to finish and I can't recommend the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites enough!

We stayed at the hotel fo medical reasons ( close to VG Hospital ) and we got an excellent medical rate of $ 119/night for an Executive Room and free parking. The service was excellent and the room was very clean with a small kitchen etc. Things were very quiet at the hotel. The only issues was that they do not serve breakfast and they do not have concierge services but this is understandable due to covid. Lunch and diner are available in the restaurant but with a limited menu. Also the Executive room had the TV directly behind the room couch and so if you wanted to watch tv, you needed to get in the bed. Otherwise, all was great and we were very happy with our overall experience

We chose the Lord Nelson Hotel because it is walking distance from the hospitals. They offer a special rate, including free parking for patients and whom ever is accompanying them.
Years ago we had stayed at this historic hotel and were so happy to see the huge renovations that had occurred in the intervening years. Gone were carpeted rooms and dated furniture. The service was impeccable whether it was the person who checked us in or the waiters who served us our meals. Friendly, personable and efficient. Especially in these pandemic times, we found ourselves completely relaxed in the protocols that were in place.
We spent 2 1/2 hours over a leisurely cozy and delicious dinner with a friend whom we had not seen in over a year. The choices on the breakfast menu were excellent as well. We are certainly going to return.

The bed was comfy, the room was well situated and outftted, it was super clean and the staff were great. Parking was also great - and we had in and out privileges until 5pm the day of check out so we could finish out day out in Halifax on foot and collect the car later! The hotel was really nicely restored with a lot of classic original touches maintained (like the elevators). Nespresso coffee machines in the room make for great morning coffee!

Really enjoyed the historical value of this stay! Details of the 1920-30.. in the foyer .. great spot for some pics! Excellent meal at their restaurant with great drinks and service . Check in was a breeZe, I chose a deal with a Mini room since I wasn’t sure how long the medical appointments would take and they offered a medical visit rate. The bathroom walls etc are well maintained and a little dated but don’t let that stop you! Most immaculate bathroom with fluffy white towels and high quality toiletries .. body cream was great! Linen and the comforter were bright white , clean and smelled amazing, pillows were awesome and the bed was super comfy.. you melt into it! Nespresso machine with coffee, tea kettle and tea, sugar, and fridge has milk and cream, long stem wine glasses, glass nespresso coffee cups, glass drinking cups.. and 2 bottled water daily ..all touches that hotels offered years ago! Most you will not find now. Small desk for paperwork , closet with suitcase holder . Call the front desk and request room service menu , I wish I knew this the first night because the room service was fabulous and fast .. local scallops and a roasted romaine salad to die for ! Room is small so a couple could make it work.. only thing was they should have a lock inside the door for added protection as a woman travelling alone.. I like the extra safety lock most hotels have.. but aside from these things it was great! Every day there was more coffee in my room, bed made , toiletries replenished and bathroom cleaned.. upgrade to a larger room for more than 2 people! Oh ya fabulous location .. very convenient !

I would suggest calling the hotel to ask. They have a luggage storage room and are friendly and accomodating, but I wouldn't assume that they can do it without asking.
