Our party of three adults stayed two nights at the Fresh Start in the "room at the top". The room was spacious, clean, and furnished with lovely antiques. There was a walkout veranda with a stunning view of the MacDonald bridge. The house itself is elegantly Victorian, with gorgeous original features. Our hostess Sheila was considerate and accommodating and provided...

A charming and interesting Victorian house, full of character. The two lady owners are friendly and helpful. This lovely B&B is about as far away from a boring chain hotel as you can get! It has off road parking and it is close enough to walk into town.

Great stay at a nice B&B. Clean spacious rooms, great service and a wonderful breakfast. I can recommend this place. It is walking distance from the city centre, as well as being conveniently located in the city. Cheap and feeling of home.

Stayed here a couple of times while in Halifax. The ladies who own and care for the place and guests are awesome. Rooms are great and good value as well. The house is huge and has great character. The resident cat is always a charmer

I stayed for 2 nights when travelling in Halifax. I was able to get the room at half price due to a Deal Find coupon. I wouldn't pay full price to stay there-the place overall needs general upkeep and a good cleaning. The breakfast was not the usual nice items you would find in a bed and breafast, such as...

I spent a week travelling all over Nova Scotia, and this was by far the worst accommodation I had. It is an old victorian home that is run down and sadly in need of renovation. It is over-priced for the amenities. It's dirty. The proprietor (whose name I don't remember) was nice, and even offered to let me leave when...

We had a wonderful stay. The hostess Sheila was warm and friendly. Our room on the top floor was comfortable and roomy -- with living room, dining area, working desk, ensuite bathroom and kitchen, especially the little private patio was our favorite. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. It's a little bit off the center of Halifax but still very convenient,...

We stayed at the Fresh Start B&B for two nights in mid-September. The B&B itself is a lovely Victorian home that is beautifully furnished and well-kept. Our room on the first floor was huge with high ceilings and a fireplace (though we didn't use it). We shared a bathroom with one other room. Therein, the toilet is in a pretty...

The room was very nicely decorated with beautiful furnishings and a comfy bed. The shared bathroom could be reached via a separated passageway. Breakfast included a hot dish, cereals, toast with a variety of muffins baked the previous day. The owner was friendly but very busy and businesslike. With free WiFi and a bus stop just a block away an...

We stayed in the Room at the Top for a week for our honeymoon in Halifax and had a great time! The owners were very nice, and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. We booked ahead of time and got a great deal for a very spacious and comfortable room. We are looking forward to coming back in...

“If you are an elderly traveller, or have very heavy bags, perhaps a room on the ground or first floor would be best. As it is a period home, there are only staircases to the upper levels.”
