As a Diamond member of Hilton, I was amazed by the excellent upgrade and greeting I received on checkin. The staff members are very helpful and friendly. I was given a double size suite. This is an excellent four star hotel offering five star service.

This was our 4th time staying at Hampton Inn Saint John. My husband, myself, and our dog have constantly had a clean room and have been served by extremely attentive staff. This time, however, went above and beyond.
We work/live at a group home and were given time off to be able to rejuvenate and head back to work.... which is tricky during the ongoing covid19 concerns. Our airBNB was cancelled abruptly the night before our break, due to covid19. I called the Hampton and was offered a good rate. We decided to drive there the day of and hope they would give us a great deal to live there for our break to continue to self-distance. We spoke with Nibu (general manager), Julie at the front desk, and a male member of the cleaning/maintenance staff. All were extremely friendly and accommodating. Nibu even referred to our conversation the night before! He upgraded us to a suite at the same rate we had discussed. The room was bright, clean, and close to the side door for our pup. The member of the cleaning staff came to spray the side doors down prior to our use, and offered to hold the doors open for us so as to help us get everything in. Above and beyond during a challenging time for everyone.
Due to no fault of theirs, the hotel is now closing for the rest of the pandemic and we got a call within three hours of setting up to state as much. Nibu seemed just as shocked as we were. They called around to different hotels and, after discussions, they sent us to the Hilton - which honored our previous rate. We stayed one night at the Hampton, and are now here at the Hilton.
Nibu - we will be back to stay at this hotel again. We are wishing you and your team all the best during this challenging time. We appreciate your help and understanding of our different scenario. Thank you!

This hotel has many positive and some negative aspects.
Positive: It is quite affordable and you can easily negotiate a better price at the lobby. The breakfast is generally good. It includes a bag of yogurt, orange juice, muffins and cereal bar. The staff is amazingly friendly and super attentive. The rooms are clean and they offer good neutrogena toiletries in the bathroom. It is quite close to downtown and shopping malls. The pool has a very fun slide (You need to reserve it though)
Negative :
It is noisy. At night sometimes it is hard to sleep because you can hear the steps, kids running, screams on other rooms and halls. The blankets in the room window don't fully ensure the window stays dark in the morning.

Room was poorly cleaned, hair all over the bathroom floor, hair all over the bath tub that was beside the bed in main room. Microwave stunk , didn’t work. Smelled like someone boiled water and it spilled over. The bed side table lamp was unplugged, there isn’t even a plug to plug the lamp in to. Was unpleased with this stay. We stay here quiet frequently. Always love our stay and enjoy the friendly staff. Sadly this time was the complete opposite. Hopefully something will get resolved.

Checked in for three nights. The place is a dump — recognizing that we’re starting at a three star property. Poorly maintained, harsh lighting in public spaces and rooms. There was water in the halls and in the elevator from pool users, the rooms were bland and depressing, there were not enough towels, bathrooms in desperate need of cleaning and refreshing. In one room, we had issues with the bathroom lights flickering which were only partially addressed, and doors not locking properly. The second room had a running toilet and locking issues. The business centre is closed. You only get housekeeping on request which is clearly to manage labour margins, not, as the signs suggest, to minimize disruptions for guests. And when you ask for the room to be made up or for extra towels, there’s a 50% chance it will happen based on our experience. The amenities promised, like combs, are not available. The mattresses were lumpy, the sheets felt scratchy, the pillows were too soft, and the bed spread had spots.
The free breakfast was mayhem with little seating. Staff were not wiping the tables between guests. One day there was no coffee and the hot water for tea was brownish. There was no cold water available. The breakfast foods were subpar and sparse.
We were in the lobby and heard another guest complaining to the front desk staff about the quality of the experience, so I know it wasn’t just us. Outside all around the property guests were smoking. The place was full of people with large, undisciplined children and dogs.
The only nice thing was when the front guest staff gave us cookies.

This hotel has a great waterslide, the kids had fun. We always appreciate the snack area to get treats and the girl working the front desk was lovely. As a silver hilton honors member, I have stayed at many hampton Inn and suites, and many hilton propertys. I can't believe this hotel is held to the same standard. Our clean seal was broken when we arrived at our room's door. We immediately got a worker and he checked out the room saying the room looked clean but someone forgot to change the sticker. The fridge was dirty there were hairs all over the room and it looks as though the room needed a good vaccumming. Upon further inspection the mattress was old and stained. The bathroom needed to be rechaulked the bottom of the bathroom door definately had water damage and the toilet was loose.
Our room was next to the stairwell with the wall our headboard was on directly up against the wall the stairs were on. Anytime anyone ran up the stairs it shook our headboard/wall. This particular room should be re arranged. This room was particularly noisy and the people above us stomped around and moved furniture until 12:30am. At 5:30am we woke up to a crash above us and lots of screaming and shouting. My husband called the front desk but the yelling did not stop for another 45 minutes.
The final thing that left us disappointed with our stay was that the hot tub was out of service. Our requirements for our staycation were a pool, breakfast and a hot tub. We would have booked elsewhere if we had of known the hot tub was not available.
I was not satisified with the level of cleanliness provided during a pandemic (which is opposite of what i found at hampton inn and suites charlottetown). The hot tub being out of service should have been disclaimed on the hilton website and this hotel needs improvements and a noise policy.

We arrived on Friday March 6th, checked in with a team, some rooms weren’t ready until after 4pm, the team rate was terrible, we actually had a couple parents check out and then decide to stay another night, the rooms were cheaper then the team rate upon doing so, one parent argued this and was not given the same fee. (Not good business). Oh and FYI they do not accept debit mastercards/visas. We have used them at hotels in the US etc.
Our room was a king suite, clean upon a quick glance, but then noticed chips under the heat/air unit, we found a little kids toy under the curtain. We went to pull out the sofa bed for our son to sleep and it had never been changed. Blankets were a mess. You could hear conversations through the vent in the bathroom. Spare blanket in the closet was shoved up on the shelf in a ball not even folded. Bring your own pillows, I ended up going to Walmart to buy one as they are pretty terrible.
All in all, housekeeping is not attentive to detail and clearly rushed. The hotel was super busy with many teams which is obviously good for business. All of that being said I would never return to this hotel.

I have stayed at many Hampton Inns; usually a great place to stay when balancing cost and comfort. I cannot recommend the Saint John Hampton Inn. My room has numerous maintenance issues, and is well worn, dark and dirty. Even the hotel elevators look like they have not been cleaned in months. Everything about this hotel screams 'none or bare minimum effort' employed. On check-in, the carpet in my room had not been vacuumed and the garbage can was still full from the last guest. When brought to the hotel's attention they offered to do nothing about it. So much for the Covid 19 extra cleaning protocols! As there is no daily cleaning service, and I was there for a week, I requested additional towels after the first few days because there were only 2 towels and 2 facecloths in the room to start. The maid told me I had to request this at the desk so walked down and did so. The desk advised they would deliver them to my room as they were still in the dryer, but that never happened. Most items in the hotel, especially the coffee pots, look like they are on their last legs. This hotel is not up to the Hampton Inn brand.

Cleanliness is a major concern at this site. We went through two suites and tolerated the second. Have photos to confirm what we found, suite 133: found hair on tub surround, hair on tile floor near sink, closet dirty with dust and debris, mold in the grout of the tile in the tub surround, mold on bottom of shower curtain. Suite 433: sunflower seeds on carpet between bed and night table, chips under sofa bed, kleenix tissue balled up in small ball and up against bed bottom, cardboard in closet, mold on shower curtain at the bottom, chips on floor carpet in main area. Very disappointed.

For the love of God, Hilton please take your name off of this hotel. It gives you a terrible reputation. Horrible staff. Checked in and our room was dirty. Front desk gave me a hard time about wanting a new room? Seriously
Pool was very popular, so much so the entire walk ways and elevators were soaked and because apparently there is no house keeping in the evening a huge slip and fall risk. Not to mention the hotel wanted you to just toss your pool towels out into the hallway when you were done with them, really sanitary. I should have done more reserch on this hotel and not stayed here. I would rather give it zero stars but that is not an option.
