I stayed here recently to use as a base for exploring nearby areas like St. Martins, Fundy Trail and St. Andrew's. We chose this hotel for its location, because we wanted to be able to walk to restaurants for dinners and be close to everything. We had a comfortable stay here and everything was very clean and well taken care of.

ROOM
They were at capacity so they told us they only have wheelchair accessible rooms available (no bath, large shower only). It actually was perfect for us because the room was so large and spacious. We were in room 201 and there is some noise from the hallways (you are close to the elevator so can hear people walking past) and there is no view of the harbour. But the king bed was so comfy and the linens were high quality. The room is super function with tons of storage, which would be great if you are here for business or a longer stay. They still do those tiny toiletries and mini soaps - I would suggest they move to the larger dispenses as many hotels now do, to reduce plastic waste.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast was included. You could do the buffet or a la carte. I like that you have the choice. The buffet includes fruit, cereal, french toast, hash browns, bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. I found the eggs were a weird, artificial texture but everything else was good. One time I did the a la carte breakfast burrito which was filling and delicious (also the hash browns were crispier than the buffet ones because they are made to order). Service in the MIX restaurant was great!

ETC.
I used the pool which was not busy at all and great for swimming a few laps. There is a jacuzzi and gym area as well. But you need to shower in your room because the change room did not have soap/shampoo/conditioner. They provide towels in the gym/pool area and the pool is really shallow so good for kids too. There are some lounge chairs but not much of a view - it overlooks the parking garage lol...

Self parking is available for $16/day in a covered lot with ample parking. Or you can do valet parking for slightly more.

We enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again next time visiting the area.

My wife just returned this evening from Delta St John..

"So pleased. Staff helpful. Great room. I did get water view. Friends had courtyard, not as nice but their pricing was lower. If view is important be specific. Everything in the room was lovely. Tub is likely do for a change but I could not complain about anything else. Room service was fast. I notice differences in the menu in restaurant from room services on top of delivery charge but if that is an issue pick it up its 5 mins away. Manager who delivered room service was so professional and presented everything well in our room. We loved the food. Nancy in the restaurant is a gem and very good at her job. Really made our mornings. Take note Delta!! :D Pool was great, and the hotel is also not far from the Canada Games Aquatic center. Kids walked in flip flops and towels. Gym was perfect, great variety. Scotch cookies in common area were delicious and a nice find! Parking, tough. I have an average F150, clearance in garage is 6'2. I could not fit and many trucks had to park elsewhere but they accommodated that without blinking. I usually try and pick hotels with buffet breakfast but if you book right the coupons for breakfast well makes up for it. Plus the coffee canister at the table was a win for me. And lastly, storm was on it's way. I could not tell if I was staying or leaving or needing an extra night. They said don't worry about time your room is there just let us know.

Very pleased, thanks again team Delta! My daughter and I hated to leave!! "

We stayed in a room with the roll in shower. My husband uses a power wheelchair and is independent. Great design , the room is large, the bed was the right height, there is lots of counter space, lights are easily operated. The seat in the shower was next to the controls, there was lots of hooks to hang things. It was the first time I had not heard him complain about something. We have stayed in enough hotels that advertise accessibility, but seem to have added a few grab bars and done. I see a difference with Marriott hotels, they seem to have designed their rooms to be very functional for people with disabilities and took the space to make it right, rather than retrofitting an existing inadequate space. The Delta is not a new hotel, so they have gone the extra mile to renovate to do it right. ( in another hotel, we have had to to ask to put the mattress on the floor as the new high bed fashion is far too high for anyone in a chair to access).
That’s the thing about properly done accessibility; we are equal to everyone else to enjoy our space and complain about noise like everyone else!
We loved the location, the staff were extremely helpful and polite, and were able to take advantage of the reduced rate as we were there to attend appointments at the hospital. Would definitely stay here and other Marriott hotels when we need the consistency and peace of mind that we can manage safely.

The location is excellent. Parking is 15$/day additional in a parking garage. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms are outdated and the shower was stained and not clean-looking enough to give my toddler a bath, not what I expected for a nightly rate of 245$ (taxes + parking included). Room service was very reasonable priced but lacklustre in taste/presentation. I was happy with it for the price. We were disappointed in the treatment of guests on New Years Eve. It was treated like a nightclub. There was security and several hotel members stopping each person entering the hotel and requiring either a room key or a photo ID at the front desk. It was inconvenient (many couples entered the hotel with one key per couple and the second person in the couple wasn’t allowed up to their room until their spouse went to the room to retrieve their ID and brought it back down to the lobby). For example, if you left your wallet in your car, you would be leaving the hotel and taking a long walk down to the parking garage to get it! It was unreasonable and not something that is appropriate for what you expect to be a higher-end hotel. Staff were also very rigid about giving additional keys for rooms when they were lost. We were there for a wedding and many guests were unhappy with that part of the stay over the two days. For these reasons (primarily the bathrooms), I will choose another hotel next time I am in the Saint John area.

kathys19763, Thank you for your review. Thank you for your feedback about our bathrooms; we are following up with your cleanliness concern to prevent this from occurring to future guests. New Years Eve procedures are in place at the discretion of Management to ensure each guest is registered to the hotel in case of an emergency as well to ensure that registered guests can enjoy a consistent experience after quiet hours. Thank you again for your feedback; we hope you will have a chance to join us again on a less busy evening for a quieter stay where only your room key card is required in the elevator to gain access to your guest floor. We stayed in an historic city view king room at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Saint John for 1-night in late-Sep ($129). Our top floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a pleasant view over the old city market (the hotel's location is excellent). But, make no mistake, this is clearly a business hotel, everything modern, sleek and impersonal. The room was decorated with a wide desk with plenty of outlets, a small drawer and shoe storage area whose top also served as a suitcase stand, and a chair and side table. There were all of the conveniences you would expect – good internet, mini-fridge, large high definition TV, and coffee maker.

Despite all the comforts, the strange layout of the hotel and its business focus did not appeal to me as a traveller. From the outside, the hotel was virtually unrecognizable as such. Entry was through an unmarked door into a lobby that was adjacent and connected to a shopping mall. The upper floors were arranged in a large rectangle around an atrium down to the mall; the mezzanine had the restaurant, pool/exercise area with a small laundry (1 washer, 1 dryer) in the back, while the 3 upper floors had perhaps 100 rooms per floor with atrium views to one side of the hall and city/harbour views to the other (our room was diametrically opposite to the elevators, requiring a long, long walk).

Our great rate, booked through Travelzoo, included parking, breakfast and 2 welcoming drinks in the restaurant (breakfast was from the regular menu and was excellent). At this rate, it was impossible to beat. At a higher rack rate, you could do better for atmosphere.

I’m a regular at Delta and Marriott hotels and enjoy the perks of their Bonvoy program as a titanium level member like free breakfast but if you are hoping for a room upgrade, it is not likely at this hotel.

This hotel recently went through renovations so the rooms are much better than they were a few years ago with better wifi and new/large televisions. That said, it is not at the same level as most Delta’s. There’s no smart desk and the bathrooms are still 1990s dated. They are however nice and clean. The beds are typical Marriott which means super comfortable.

The room amenities are sparse. I paid for a “larger room with a harbour view”. The room was larger but it’s just empty/useless space. One chair to sit on and that’s it (same as the smaller rooms). Normally a larger room would have additional seating (there certainly is room for it). You will be watching tv or eating from the bed like it or not.

Breakfast is great and as a bonvoy member the way they do it (a set $ amount) works well. Staff are always great and parking is also close and easy.

A few more improvements could really make a huge difference. A love seat or couch here, updated bathroom there and it would bring it up to a different class of hotel.

In the end, it is comfortable and reasonably priced.

davidmE7643DG, Thank you for your business and loyalty to Marriott. As both a conference hotel and very popular destination for Bonvoy members it can sometimes be difficult to offer room upgrades to all our Bonvoy members. We try our best to ensure our members are placed in the best possible room according to membership level prior to arrival. Many of our members enjoy Bonvoy Member rates to pre-book suites, city view and harbor view rooms in advance as well as utilizing a Suite Night Reward to enjoy during their stay. We are thrilled to learn that you enjoy and utilize your breakfast benefit; we are glad to hear you enjoy the staff and will thank them on your behalf. Thank you for your feedback about your room. We will be sure to share this valuable information with senior management to consider for future improvement of our product. Thank you again for your business and loyalty and sharing your feedback with us. Regards, Stephen W

My wife and I traveled to Eastern Canada as an anniversary gift to each other. Part of our trip included a stay in St John New Brunswick. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted with the most enthusiastic and friendly reception staff explaining all the hotel amenities.

After telling them this was our first trip into New Brunswick, they immediately brought out maps to explain what places they recommended for good seafood , and what places are "we must see" for our short stay.

When finding out it was our anniversary holiday, they pointed out more places, including how to get the the Harbour Passage Trail, which we took and it turned out to be a lovely night time couple's stroll. All of them went out of their way to make sure our stay would be pleasant. They really succeeded!

The hotel itself felt outdated compared to other Marriot Hotels we've stayed in. It was disappointing to see stained "white sealant" along our bathtub edge, making it feel somewhat old and unsanitary. One stairwell was very dirty.

The room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable and both nights we had great sleeps.

I was going to call the front desk for some information, but noticed our phone did not have a cord attached between the ear/mouthpiece and the phone box. We are not sure if this is something that was taken and not noticed by the hotel staff, or if the phones in the rooms have become obsolete.

The hotel had a great pool and workout area, which we took advantage of. The pool area has large windows which gave a nice view to the outside, but my eyes kept looking at a broken bottle, with jagged edges sitting on the rooftop outside the window, again adding to the feeling more care could be taken to make the place look tidier.

The location of the Delta Hotel is perfect for sightseeing downtown, and walking to the lookout point for the "Reversing Falls"

Breakfast at the MIXResto Bar was great! The buffet is a good breakfast choice , but the prepared breakfast menu was even much tastier.

We would return to this hotel on our next visit and do recommend it for travelers who want to enjoy the downtown vibes of St John.

Thank you Delta Hotel St John. You have a wonderful staff!

After a long tour bus ride, the driver somehow squeezed an oversized bus into a covered car park. The reception area is enormous, plenty of space for conference attendees and tour groups to congregate for orientation meetings. The location is perfect: a brief walk to the waterfront and the indoor City Market is accessible through a rabbit warren of corridors. Kudos to the tour guide for getting us there. Otherwise, I’d still be walking around, lost.

The mezzanine level has an indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, and essential to tour groups, laundry facilities. Unfortunately, there is only one washer and dryer. I found the room to be spacious, modern, clean and comfy. Sleep quality is excellent. Registration staff are wonderful and helpful.

Although the Delta was constructed in 1962 [when my age was 10], it was acquired by the Marriott conglomerate in 2015 and a massive expansion and upgrade was implemented. This is one of the better hotels I’ve enjoyed, and in late September, I chose the Delta Marriott in Richmond, Virginia, because of the pleasant experience I had with Delta/Saint John in June. Why look for better than the best☺

I had low expectations of this hotel and was very pleasantly surprised. Firstly the staff are really lovely especially Nancy in the MIX restaurant where she served breakfast with a smile on both days we were there.
The room we had on the third floor was extremely spacious, with a huge king size bed, a desk, arm chair, large fridge and coffee machine. The bathroom was an average size, with an over the bath shower which is not my favourite, but it was clean and did the job. Toiletries were provided, we did have to request shower gel, which was brought up to the room promptly after requesting on the Bonvoy app.
All in all a nice hotel with great friendly and personable staff.

I had a great stay until I came home and checked my credit card to see I was charged 471.95$ for my room I booked on Hotwire, hotwire charged me for the room and the delta charged me twice. I have called them three seperate times to try and resolve this and I keep being reassured it would be put right. They have made partial reimbursement but I still paid 245.71$ when my bill was 181.91$.

Brad: I live near Orlando, Florida and don't work for Delta/Marriott and have no idea what are the costs of rooms with special amenities. Someone for the hotel can be reached by phone or email/website. You should enjoy your visit, but I've never been in Canada during December... Can't take the cold☺
