The hotel has all the needs of a business traveller. Close to the downtown. Easy access to the highway. A nice breakfast buffet, restaurants, and an evening louge. Large selection of local craft beers. My place to stay in Saint John

I stayed 8 nights at this location. Rooms were dated. The hotel charges $23/night parking ( not on website); while the parking garage ( same location as the Hilton) only charges 18. Further, the hotel did not advise that it was free to park anywhere else on the weekends and only $5 a night in a VERY nearby garage. The hotel did not have any notices posted in the hotel or on the website that it was a designated isolation hotel for people returning to the province from travel and I only found this information out on day 6. I spoke with the manager who was very helpful in answering my questions however, I felt that the hotel should have been up front about this so that I could have made an informed decision about my stay. The hotel requires you to order breakfast the night before and advise when you wanted it delivered. The last two mornings of my stay it was more than 30 minutes late arriving. I suspect that it was becaus the hotel was willingnup with Covid isolation guests. But again; the staff did not mention any need or concern to expect delays. Finally; I was a gold member when I checked in and a platinum member when I checked out ( had enough nights by then). I was not offered any room up grades. For the first time ever, I was charged more for my room as the week progressed. When I booked the room on the website it quoted me $115 per night. When I reviewed my bill( I was charged 95 for the first 4 nights and 159 for the last 4. I reviewed my confirmation email which also had this information; but I did not see it until after my stay. I find it frustrating as there was no indication when I reserved the room that the rates were different throughout the week. While I should have checked my confirmation email; I have never had a reason to do so in the past. I won’t make that mistake again.

I booked this hotel over others because of the restaurant on site. I booked by phone, so I was unaware that it was still closed, To omit a long story I was unable to leave the hotel because of health issues. Because of covid there is no longer any phone books, no hotel directory to advise of local services and I didn't have the cell phone to help me out. When I went to the vending machines, including the pop machines, everything was empty. To make a long story short, the staff came through for me with a sense of humour and with limited resources made sure I didn't starve to death, I appreciated their help immensely.

I was staying there with my sisters, while my sisters were sleeping, the housekeeper knocked on the door and said I was smoking marijuana in the room. I said I was 7 months pregnant so I was not smoking and everyone else was sleeping and that they know not to smoke inside or around me. The housekeeper proceeded to say she had received complaints and that it was me as I was the one awake.
Im visibly pregnant and I was extremely offended as I would never smoke in a hotel to begin with especially while pregnant. It made me so upset, it ruined the rest of my trip to Saint John with my family. We spoke to the front desk who explained that she was suppose to put the letter under the door as they do to every room when they smell it. He did apologize but at that point, I will not recommend the Hilton Saint John to anyone else.

The Hilton had lots of signs up about how they were cleaning and taking other measures for COVID. I don't think the staff were reading them, based on our experience. While we waited a long time to check in, the desk clerk chatted with a guest while wearing her mask on her chin. Our room had a mildew-y shower, a torn chair and rice and nut shells on the floor. We tried to call the front desk but they didn't answer so we went down to change rooms. We were moved to a new room and were told to call if it wasn't up to our standards. I mentioned we had tried to call but nobody was answering, to be told they were "very busy." Our new room had a cleaner bathroom but the fabric headboards were very damaged and sported the stain of the hand prints of a previous guest. We let house keeping know so we wouldn't be blamed and they offered to remove $25 from the bill. I'd rather be safe and comfortable than save money but we couldn't find another hotel to move to. The lobby was as "clean" as the room and it was clear they hadn't vacuumed or cleaned in some time. I understand that hotels and restaurants are having trouble hiring but it's worth pointing out that every other hotel we stayed in on this trip was extra-clean and vigilant. We stayed at the Hilton 8 years ago for a family wedding but it seems like they have given up in the meantime. I would caution friends from staying here until things improve.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location, nothing more and the price of $799 CA is OUTRAGEOUS.
We arrive to no bell staff OR luggage carts. We're told people take them & don't return them. We're just 2 people but the family of 5 behind us was none too pleased either. Supposedly a bus load of people had come that day/day before and used all the carts. How about calling or texting some guests and request they be returned for use by newly arriving guests??
Moving on....we were told parking was across the street under the mall/convention center. We made 4 trips with our gear. It was only afterwards we were told (by maintenance man) there was access to the "connected" parking lot via the elevator. Wish we knew that before parking across the street!
Our room - dirty, peeling wall paper, bathroom lighting was so dingy we had to use window light for grooming. One of the 2 bathroom lights was not working. Normally wouldn't matter but with overall grunginess it was clear it had not been cared for well. For $799CA can we at least have a couple of bottled waters??
Breakfast - while we stood at hostess desk to be seated, the hostess stopped first to take a to-go order so we had to stand and wait for that transaction to be completed (we were only ones waiting).
A loud woman that at least thought she was in charge seemed irritated with the another waitress that ended up being our waitress. We sat for 10 minutes with no acknowledgment when our watress shows up and slams a pot of coffee down and walks away. She didn't take our order, no good morning, no hello, no "would you like coffee". It was almost comical like we're on Candid Camera!
Only after she saw me take a picture of the insects on the ledge behind my head and the filthy floor did she decide to act somewhat civil & take our order.
I honestly can't recall what we ordered, I only remember not eating much, it was not good and I go by the rule that if the FOH is dirty, the kitchen is probably worse.
When my husband went down later while scouting for a luggage cart, he observed a different waitress who was extremely pleasant to a couple in our exact seat, even offering where to shop., etc. That normally wouldn't have been something to notice but it was so opposite of our experience he couldn't help but be in awe of this good customer service, lol!
Bottom line: overpriced, dirty & dated hotel that needs renovating & a staff that cares (the maintenance man seemed to be the only person that cared).

This will be our sixth different Hilton we have had the pleasure of staying in. We tend to find that of all the Hilton brands, the Hilton itself is a cut above some of the others (except of course the unique resorts and the Curio properties). This one was OK, not exceptional. We had been given an upgrade, so we were expecting something special and exciting. It really was just ordinary. The room was the size of a typical Hampton Inn (although larger than the European hotels). We were given free continental breakfast, and that was really ho-hum. Hampton Inns provide much more. Muffins were tasteless, and the fruit cups were tiny and not exciting. Coffee was good, and the service was good. The one bizarre finding was power in the bathroom. We always bring our electric toothbrush that needs charging, and a nightlight for added safety in the night. Neither would operate with the bathroom lights turned off. Apparently the outlets turn off too. Not a great set-up. Our view was nice, and that was part of the upgrade.

Some reviewers had not a good experience. But this hotel is outstanding. It’s located on the boardwalk. The waterfront view from the room is breathtaking. They are building a huge garden on the waterfront near by.
The room is very comfortable and clean. Is spacious. The beds are very comfortable. A lot à pillows. Comfortable little coach or chair. Office desk is bof enough. The screen is 55 or 65 inches.
Some people were complaining because the rooms are outdated. But it’s luxurious and it’s far to be 1970s style. It’s 2000s.
The bathroom has a lot of space and is fully equipped. There is no glass shower but it doesn’t really matter. The counter is marble and floor in ceramic.
The lobby is beautiful. It’s multilevel.
The staff is amazing. There are texting us twice a day I think to make sure everything is fine and the come over as soon as we need something.
I think the hotel should published how to access the parking. Because as soon as you know is very easy. It’s the market square underground parking with a door that will lead you directly in the hotel. Very easy to move spinners luggages.
The York bistrot offers a very smooth atmosphere and it’s located on the boardwalk so we still have waterfront view.

I booked two rooms at this hotel to stay in with all my bridesmaids the night before my wedding. Let's just say we were all very disappointed. The quality you expect from the Hilton was not there one bit. Both rooms booked were run down, I booked a room with two queen size beds and one with a king size bed that joined together, and had asked to be on the water side for the view. The room with the king bed had 2 windows in it and one of them you could not see a thing out due to condensation. Both the rooms AC was on the frizz and not working properly, we had maintenance come a few times to try and fix, we ended up getting 2 fans to help with the heat. One of the rooms had a huge wet spot on the floor, we asked maintenance what that would be from, assumed something to due with AC not working, he then told us it had something to do with the shower that was on the other side of the wall and the plug needing to be replaced, my mind instantly went to thinking about mold. We had to call down many times before getting towels for the rooms. Also a lot of the furnishings in the room were banged up and damaged. It was not what we had expect one bit from a Hilton brand hotel and I was very disappointed. If the day and night had not been so rushed I would not have stayed with this choice.
