This hotel is the perfect location if you’re attending an event at MTS Centre. The rooms are very trendy, spotlessly clean. Lots of restaurants close by. I would recommend this hotel for singles or couples, but not for families. The room layout makes it so there’s very little privacy with regards to the washroom...you can see into the glass shower from the room.

Parking is at a parkade around back. The hotel has cheaper rates (than those just parking there otherwise), so they provide a card - that card is then to be scanned at a pay machine just before leaving, to exit. Parkade is attached via a walkway on second level of hotel. There are LOTS of things nearby: Portage Place, The Met, The Forks....easy walk. Tim Horton's and Browns Social House are both attached to the building. Coffee is available in the lobby, as well as a 'fruit bowl" - a bowl with apples, bananas, oranges. If you'd like other things like granola bar, cereal, and other small snacks they have them available for purchase at the usual hotel convenience pricing. Staff goes out of their way to please people and make things just right. They have feather pillows or bedding - but for those with allergies, they also have rooms without feather. Many people in other reviews seem to like the beds, but we found ours super hard. The room was very European looking in design, and all we needed: nice, big window from floor to ceiling; plenty of room around the bed; roomy washroom; Keurig, desk, etc. If you sleep lightly, it is well worth noting that you should check the cute, little box on the bedside table: there are ear plugs. Not only did we miss those before going to sleep but even if we hadn't, there was only 1 pair there! Our mistake - if we had looked and noticed, we would have asked the front desk for a second set and we would surely have been provided with another set. All night long we heard sirens - and in the morning we noticed a fire station nearby! We consider this our error - as we should have either brought ear plugs or checked. We knew that we were downtown where there was lots of traffic. You can't have it all! Overall we were quite pleased with the location (convenient and easy parking), the staff and comfort. It is a very clean hotel. If we had stayed longer, we would have asked for a different room, as this particular bed was quite hard.

Alt is a great chain. No nonsense. great rooms, comfortable bedding. GREAT amenities in lobby and in room. This is identical to the other ALt I have stayed at. I love the ease of the hotel. the room is very functional (bathrooms, lighting, etc). Clean and chic. Funky lobby and great restaurant next door to hotel. the only improvement would be to make the rooms a bit lighter/brighter (dim lighting). Front desk service was friendly but not very efficient when it came to ordering food, etc. But a great easy stay. Great location too.

Hello OJonVacation, Thank you for taking the time to review the Alt Winnipeg. You have hit the nail on the head with what the Alt brand is all about, thank you for your comments regarding the style and ambiance. In relation to the ordering of food from reception. If you wouldn't mind emailing me directly so we can discuss. We work very closely with the restaurants next door who provide the in room service for our Alt guests, so everything helps to streamline and improve this. Thank you again, we appreciate it. We chose this hotel because of its downtown/walkable location. I had heard positive reports from friends about ALT Hotels but nothing prepared me for how muchI loved this place!

From the moment we arrived the staff were great. I'm not sure I have ever experienced such genuinely friendly/helpful people in the hotel business.

The room was stylish, from the wall colours to range of materials,in wood and concrete; the bed was so comfortable; the bathroom was so functional and stylish and the toiletries were all outstanding! The carpeting was modern, as were the lights and minimal art work. Housekeeping was excellent and the elevators and security system were very smart.

A few irritations: better coffee for the Keurig. A bit more storage spaces; we were travelling light but for two people the areas for clothing and STUFF were cramped.

Finally, some might find going into an adjoining coffee shop and restaurant a bit disorienting. (even though entry was gained through inside doors in the hotel lobby)

And yes, everything was walkable from this location: from the art galleries; to the Exchange District; to the the historic Forks National Park, Fort Gary; to excellent dining.

I stayed at the ALT on my recent trip to downtown Winnipeg. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to experience a different stay than the traditional hotel rooms.
The evening front-desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the vicinity, and also provided recommendations on the restaurants, places to visit, etc. They became familiar and would greet+chat daily which added a personalized touch in their hospitality.
The loft style rooms with 12-feet ceilings and modern furniture+decor offer an urban feel. The products in the washroom were placed in dispensable bottles instead of the regular soap-bars or mini bottles. So it is less wastage and efficient. The house-keeping staff was friendly and the rooms were always tidy and clean. One downside was you could hear the guests in the lobby and near the elevators, even if they weren't necessarily being loud.
The hypoallergenic bedding and pillows were great, and provided a comfortable sleep.
There are two restaurants and a Tim Horton's located in the same building, and other restaurants in the area are within a 10-15 minutes walking distance which makes the location very convenient.
This hotel does not provide any water bottles in the room, however there is water and other snacks available for purchase in the main lobby. They provide complimentary water, fruits, tea/coffee every morning during breakfast hours.
Overall a very pleasant stay.

Located in the new Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment District (SHED), the hotel is just steps away from the BELL MTS Place, home of the Winnipeg Jets hockey team, an array of businesses such as More restaurants, bars and boutiques.
