Very warm welcome from Vanessa upon arrival, put us at ease immediately! Our room very cosy with a verandah to the back of the cottage, birds and treetops were our constant companions. All was presented spotless, clean and dusted, lots of knick knacks in our room. No traffic noise, at night the hoofs of the horse down the clobber stone... More

turned out we had to leave at 5:30 am and were not able to stay for breakfast at this quaint little, well appointed b&b. When Vanessa the owner heard we could not stay for breakfast, (we let her know late in the evening) she packed an amazing picnic lunch for us and put it in our in-room fridge. Home made... More

Really enjoyed staying here, Vanessa is a lovely hostess and a great cook, the breakfast was superb (Eggs Benedict with a Bernaise sauce made from duck eggs!) . Her B&B is delightful with all the charm of a european chalet, and really close to everything in Victoria.

The Gingerbread Cottage is incomparable in Victoria. The feel and ambiance is European. The owner, Chef de Cuisine , Vanessa von Schellwitz is truly a CHEF. The breakfasts offer a wide variety of homemade breads, rolls, jams and jellies, organic egg dishes with wild salmon and crab, local vegetables and seasonal fruits. On our first visit to Victoria, we were very pleased with our three nights at the Gingerbread Cottage Bed and Breakfast. Vanessa made us feel right at home. The rooms were very comfortable, and the breakfasts were fantastic. The salmon omelette we had for our first breakfast was amazing - see the picture below. The omelettes and crepes we had... More

My boyfriend and I were super lucky to managed to get a room here, due to a last minute cancellation. As we decided to take a last minute trip to the island we grabbed what accommodation we could, and ended up in this GEM! The host is an incredible cook and serves up the most amazing breakfast spread every morning.... More

I have just returned from a week-long stay at the Gingerbread Cottage, and as always, it was amazing. I've been coming here from Toronto every year for ten years, and every visit is memorable. The location is excellent, a two-minute walk to the water and the wonderful scenic path along Dallas Road, with its gorgeous many-shades-of-blue view of the water... More

We had actually booked 2 nights at another B&B, where we were accidentally overbooked. They in turn booked us at Vanessa's. It turned out to be a great thing. We really enjoyed staying with Vanessa and Dean. They were both very friendly and welcoming. The location is nice, pretty close to downtown and very close to Ogden Point. But the... More
