I was teaching a two weeks' course at UBC, so my local friends recommended to reserve a room at TRIUMF House. So I did and was very happy with virtually everything. The room is small but very cosy and it has everything you might need, including a couple of comfortable chairs and a computer desk. The Internet connection is wireless and works great. My room was very quiet and I truly enjoyed a comfortable queen bed. On the first floor there is a really nice living room and a big kitchen with a few sizeable refrigerators and all the amenities to cook and eat practically as if at home. The Guest House provides all sorts of kitchenware. A big grocery Save-on-Foods is within 700 meters away, a very easy and pleasant walk. I also appreciate a great coffee machine in the kitchen and the chance to have fresh coffee any time of the day.The House is situated in a quiet corner of the campus, and walks in the evening add to the joy of staying there. The manager and the staff are very friendly and happy to accommodate your needs. I feel very grateful to everyone who made my stay so pleasant. Would love to come back. Thank you!

I was there for a one week visiting. It locates inside the campus, very convenient for people who need focus on their business in UBC. Not mention their full equipped kitchen, laundry, quite and clean guest room, mine is with a kitchen, they provides a conference center for FREE! You can have a conference call, or a small meeting, will be comfortable for 10. That's about 20 months ago. It's because of TRIUMF House, I started to check on TripAdvisor before booking any hotels. The experience with TRIUMF House was very consistent with the reviews posted here. If it's allowed, please correct my travel time to October 2016. Thanks!

Stayed here for 3 days and was surprised by the offerings. They have a full kitchen downstairs with 2 cooking spaces so you can make your own meals. They also have a nice system to store your food in the large commercial fridges/freezer with baskets and tags. A nice coffee maker is available to make coffee, espressos, etc. I'm a tea drinker and they had a variety of very nice teas and a hot water pot that boiled fairly quick. They also had filtered water too. There was a cooler with pops you can buy on the honor system as well as a vending machine. You can also rent one speed bikes for they day, but they are quite expensive (10.95/day)! I rented one only to get a refund because the seat was set too high, I realized it was a men's bike too. The first room I had was quite small with single beds, but nice and clean. Rooms have great views of the small wooded area on campus. The second room I had was a suite on the main floor (kind of hidden near the vending machine), it had a queen bed with a small kitchenette. Very cozy with a couch and small table. Would be adequate space for 4 people. The check in process was ok, the front desk person didn't really explain any of the accommodations, I had to discover on my own. The housekeeping staff however was very friendly and helpful! There was also a large dining area, a tv room and a meeting room. A computer too is available and has printing capabilities. There is a blue book in the room that explains everything (I remember the front desk person saying to read it so I'm guessing this was her way of telling me about the place), however it needs to be updated! There were a ton of recommended delivery places that were permanently closed . Not being from the area I was really hoping on local recommendations from the establishment. There a few food and coffee places really close, near the wooded area to the left of the main door. You can walk there in a few minutes. There is also a pharmacy too. I chose this place for its location since I needed to me on campus. Though campus is fairly large it took me 20 minutes to walk to my building but there are at least 2 Tim Hortons near the main mall so it made my walk worth it :)

Room Tip: If you don't need your own cooking space, you won't need the suite.

We didn't want to pay the huge prices of Vancouver and the YWCA was sold out. I found this one line and decided to try it. Price is excellent, room is very small but all we needed. The house is new, spotless clean and beside a park. UBC is huge, like its own city. The communal kitchen is the best stocked we have seen for dishes etc. You can have a space in one the the huge fridges and freezers. We made our own breakfast every morning. The best coffee ever ! A machine for americanos and expressos. We used the underground parking for $6.50 a night. The staff was very friendly. Only the housekeepers were around when we checked in but they were very helpful we were given a code a head of time to get into the building as we arrived after hours. It seemed like it would be so far away from Vancouver but it was actually nice to stay in that area, close to Kits and the beaches.

I get it - it's on a university campus and it's well priced and clean ... but that doesn't mean that the staff on the reservation desk should be surly and unhelpful. Professionalism is lacking - it seemed to be an unpleasant chore to check us in - almost an interruption in her day. In contrast, the housekeeping staff was quite friendly.
