Our recent stay at Barclay House was wonderful. Dennis is a marvellous host. He and his staff made our stay in Vancouver very special. The breakfasts were impressive - Eggs Benedict, Breakfast quesadilla, etc. served with beautiful presentation. Our room, The Peak, was a real treat. The Peak is situated on the top floor, has a lovely view of the...

I just visited my son, his wife and my new grandson in Vancouver with my 90 year old mother, all the way from Philadelphia. We couldn't have found a better place to stay. Our room was elegant, the breakfasts were scrumptious, and Dennis, our host, is the most wonderful and caring person. I left feeling I had made a new...

We stayed 3 nights in April 2012. The Barclay House is a great location on a quiet street with walking distance for all our needs. It was clean, comfortable & the price was really reasonable. The manager was friendly & helpful. We had delicious breakfast's (great eggs benny). When visiting Vancouver again we will definitely come back.

A great little place, hidden away in a quiet street, but just a few minutes from the beach one way and harbour the other. Staff are so polite and helpful, the rooms beautiful, bed incredibly confortable and the breakfast very very special. I'd like to stay longer just to try more breakfast combinations. Would definitely stay here again if in...

After 15 wonderful days of dog mushing in the Yukon I wanted to spoil myself with a bit of luxury in Vancouver, and this was definitely the right place to stay. Set right in the heart of Vancouver, the Barclay House is only a short walk away from anywhere, yet at the same time located on a really quiet street....

We stayed in the Barclay House in 2007 and had such a good experience that we knew we had to book there again when we returned to Vancouver last week. It was just as fantastic as I remembered. We stayed in The Haidaway suite. It was adorable, garden-level, with a private entrance and jacuzzi tub, very comfortable and stylish. The...

We were so happy with our first night in Vancouver, staying at this lovely, character bed and breakfast - with a superb host, Denis, and a great breakfast, that we decided to also spend our final night in Vancouver here too (returning 7 nights later). Denis was helpful, accommodating and reassuring (when we were initially delayed in getting there from...

I stayed at the Barclay House for 7 days. What a treat! The food was fantastic and the innkeeper, Dennis, and his staff did a phenomenal job of making me feel at home, while providing me with privacy. The area is wonderful for walking and very convenient to everything I wanted to see in Vancouver. When I come back, I...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
