The hostel felt like an institute and not a fun place for travellers. The female dorm charging outlets didnt work. Wifi didnt work inside the room. To use wifi and charge my phone, I had to sit in the main lobby area. There were events organised by hostel staff but they were not fun, one or two even got cancelled...

On first arrival seemed like a busy place to be, free wifi etc so all good. Disappointing that parking costs but a least you can park on main road. Not keen on the feeling of the place really, felt like we were in a prison due to the layout and lack of privacy, all other 4-bed bits in the female...

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It's a minute walk away from the beach and also close to Wreck Beach. I was surprised to find that parking out front cost $11 per day. The layout of the dorms was great-a long room sectioned off into somewhat private areas with four beds. The biggest downside was that the room...

I have stayed here several times over the years and I keep coming back for a number of reasons. Location, next to Jericho and walking or bus distance to Kitsilano beach. Price, I defy anyone to find a cheaper lace to stay short term in the Vancouver area. It's also quiet at night, what more can a weary traveller ask...

We stayed 2 nights in a private room. Room clean and had toilet of our own (with shared shower) which was fine. Only downside is rooms are incredibly hot meaning we didn't sleep well. Staff friendly and great location. Would stay again outside of summer months!

When I first arrived to the hostel the night Guy was still on shift. Nice Guy helped me to find myself around can say no more than super service. The girls that work on the day shift need to stop playing on their phone all the time, you show up to get a towel and you feel like you are...

I stayed here for 2 nights. The place was in a good location to the beach however the dorms had one light for everyone. Very little access to plugs in beside the beds. The place was busy and needed more people on reception.

As a hostel and a bed, it was cheap. Showers weren't too bad. But the power points in the room were blocked by a bench which was really inconvenient. Also 3 of the 6 toilets in the men's were broken/out of service. But service was very friendly.

Stayed here twice during separate leisure-related stop-overs in Vancouver, each time with one other person. This was done during a time in my life when I was okay with sleeping in a giant room full of bunk beds containing other strangers. Disclaimer: I am not anymore. The building is more than spacious and sits on a large beachfront property. It...

Big, but hey, it's a super use of old military barracks. And right on the beach, right in the park. Very nice and helpful staff (cleaning all the time:)!) Fine sitting-out areas. Good cafe, when too lazy to cook something, though somewhat strange opening hours. Practical partitions in dorm, made it feel more private. Lots of activities, though not always...

Staying in West Point Grey

Neighbourhood Profile
West Point Grey
West Point Grey is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, especially known for its easygoing and admired beachfronts. Locals crowd the Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach, especially in the summer, where a sprawling view of the English Bay awaits. The central village is an oasis of sovereign shops, many of them in local operation for years. The neighbourhood has a more personal feeling to it, and can be a wonderful and much-needed break from the bustle of big-city life, being a little haven of peace and quiet with an almost village temperament in the heart of Vancouver.
