My boyfriend and I were traveling on Christmas and we decided to stay at the West End Guest House for a night. The location of the house was amazing! Located just one block away from many shops, restaurants, and the lovely Stanley Park. It was difficult to leave our room to explore the local area as the place was so...

The welcome was like visiting your relatives home. This bed and breakfast is clean, and felt like home with an amazing location. The warmth of the fireplace and the historical setting while sitting having a glass of wine and snacks is something to remember. Our room was so comfortable with soft duvets, comfortable pillows and historical furniture and decor. We...

We like to go into downtown Vancouver occasionally to shop, have dinner, see a show and stay over night. Staying at the West End Guest House is like a holiday far from home, yet its only a 45 minute drive from our home. It is well located, within walking distance of Robson Street, Granville Street, Gastown and the convention centre....

My husband and I were looking for a unique place to stay in the heart of Vancouver, and found the idyllic spot at the West End Guest House. Our room was small, but comfortable with a beautiful big picture window looking out front. The breakfast was amazing -- multiple courses, and with such interesting company (both the proprietor and the...

Our cozy room on the top floor was a wonderful get-away spot for a three day weekend in Vancouver. Martin and both chefs created such a lovely setting for the full breakfast each morning. Morning fare was adapted for a vegan and a gluten free guest, while the rest of us dined on egg dishes and homemade scones. Yum! Thank...

We booked a two night stay at the West End Guest House, prior to boarding a cruise ship. My wife and I had a wonderful time at the West End. The owner and his staff were very cordial in helping us plan our days in their beautiful city. The full course breakfast carried you over well into dinner. The room was...

We thoroughly enjoyed our too short stay at West End Guest House. This jewel, nestled among apartments and small business, was quaint, clean, Victorian charm at its best. Very friendly staff, comfortable and spacious king bed suite and a delicious formal three course breakfast in the morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. Next time.

What a great spot, kind of between an inn and b and b. Atmosphere is warm and homey, but there is still quiet and anonymity if you choose. Our room was comfortable, especially the bed. Living space is welcoming and easy to hang out in. Coffee and baked items (leftovers from breakfast) available through the day. A small but important...

Really enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast is 3 courses and very nicely done. The weekend chef even accommodated my gluten intolerance by baking me GF muffins, and packaging the extras up for me to take with me during the day. My room was clean, comfortable with charming decor. Excellent location close to Stanley Park. You'll want to take a...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
