I found the hotel to be exceptionally clean and quiet. Its location in Vancouver's west end is close to Stanley Park and Denman Street with its many affordable and varied eateries yet it is far enough away to be removed from traffic noise. I was there on a business trip and love walking so didn't mind the 25 minute walk...

I've stayed at the Buchan multiple times, when in Vancouver for running marathons. I love the location! I would recommend anyone looking for a budget hotel that is quiet and clean and close to so many amenities, such as Stanley Park, Robson Street, restaurants, etc.

The hotel is within close walking distance to Denman Street and English Bay yet it is located on a quiet street. The lobby is spacious and comfortable and nice hardwood floor hallway. Rooms are well maintained.

This place offers basic rooms at somewhat reasonable prices. No frills. If that's all you need, then I'd recommend it. Vancouver is pretty expensive so I went with this place. Also it's very close to Stanley Park and a bunch of restaurants.

The hotel is located just a few blocks away from tons of restaurants and Stanley Park. It was perfect for us. The hotel was nice. We didn't spend too much time in there as we were out and about. It has the basics of what you need to be comfy.

The Buchan hotel is a great deal: it is in a beautiful location and it has competitive prices. The rooms are a little vintage but they are clean and comfortable. I was in s business trip and my room was perfect for this purpose.

I found the Buchan to be more of an experience than just accommodation , it's a 100 year old building with the flavor of "Old Vancouver". It is well maintained and clean as a whistle . It opens up onto a quiet tree lined street just two blocks off of a vibrant part of town with a variety of ethnic...

I was given a room on the ground floor (I was told this was the last room available, and they could not gguarantee my request of a quiet room, at least for the first night of my 5 night stay). The window was located above the bar so it's lucky it wasn't busy for any night of my stay, although...

The hotel is in a fantastic location in the west End. It''s basic but clean and good value for the price. Friendly, helpful staff. I stay here whenever visiting friends in Vancouver. It may not suit everyone but if you want something fancy you need to pay a lot more. Noise does travel a bit through the walls but I...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
