Housekeeper stole Nintendo Switch from room. Reception lied to our faces. No consequences for the thief and nothing resolved. They have ignored every email, and have manipulated our review on their website. Disgusting. Deeply upset. Don’t stay here.
I am currently still at Davie street sandman. I stayed for 8 days from the UK on business, 5 of which were with my wife. Our suite was a great size, larger than most I looked at when booking. The bedroom is compact but has a huge wardrobe and drawers. Plus as you have a good sized lounge with a kitchen there is no necessity for a huge bedroom. The bed was comfortable, all amenities worked and the view was nice. The location of this hotel is perfect, walking distance to most necessary things, a 1km walk from the underground to the airport and 1.5km from the opposite waterfront. Shops, bars and restaurants aplenty nearby. The noise reported by others was not an issue at all for us, we were on floor 10 with a city view, yes there is some traffic noise and the occasional siren but that is to be expected in a large city centre The lift issues people have reported again we did not experience, naturally they didn't arrive instantaneously but we barely waited any time for them. The staff were lovely, we didn't have much interaction with them because we keep ourselves to ourselves but when we did they were great. The restaurant/bar that is part of the hotel, sells reasonably priced food and drinks and shows the sports so was pretty good. Overall I think this hotel was perfect for our needs as a base in Vancouver to work and play. I highly recommend.…
Drove 10 hours on a miserable rainy day and was looking forward to relaxing in our room. Arrived at our room on floor 12 to find the door open. Not a great start. Go in and there's a gale blowing, absolutely Baltic. Thermostat set to lowest setting. That's a nice Sandman welcome. Place is filthy too, cooker is dirty, cutlery is also filthy. Half hour later the room is still pretty chilly. We have had enough, call reception told the lady our experience. We are offered another room to check. Wife is happy that it is cleaner. So we move rooms, thermostat set to lowest setting and balcony door slightly open in this room too. Freezing again. Windy indoors. I have never ever stayed in such a penny pinching place. Heating set to lowest temperature for the new guests in March. That's great hospitality for u. Won't be coming back, pay the extra money and go to a warm, clean hotel. …
The room size was excellent - full one bedroom. The view is exceptional, I had an unobstructed view to the water. The hotel check-in process was very focused on no-contact, which I thought was very safe and reasonable.”
As a long time Vancouver local, I absolutely vouch for this property. After a non essential trip abroad, I had to quarentene for 14 days after returning. When I called the Sandman to inquire about rates, I was happy to find out through Rocky, (front office manager) that they actually offer a quarentene rate that was within my budget. This has truly proven to be a great stay, the rooms here are actual apartment units, all equipped with full kitchens, and in-suite laundry, perfect for those who are quarantining. The folks here at the Sandman truly care about their guests and that is clearly transpired through out your stay. I will absolutely come back and stay here again whenever I can, and I’ll will recommend this place and their fantastic staff to everyone I know.
