This is an authentic Victorian-era hotel, which clearly had its glory days a long time ago. But to advertise it as "renovated" is misleading. It is still very much in the process of being fixed up and modernized. There are some beautiful furniture pieces around, and quaint bathroom fixtures, but the breakfast room has exposed pipes with insulation and very...

Dear MCV, you are absolutely right about the renovations. We began a plumbing fix in March and what should have been a couple of months, well you get the picture. Oh the joy of Victorian era renos. That said, we're just about done which means we'll be able to re-do the breakfast room as well. As for security protocols, it's...

High ceilings, two large beds, hardwood floors and a bathroom overlooking the fire escape in busy downtown Vancouver - perfect! Such a breath of fresh air from the cold, carpeted, corporate rooms that flood the market. And this room was clean, comfortable, homey and decently priced. Friendly staff, lovely breakfast and around the corner from a great cafe. There's a...

Thank you JPPITCHER, we love your appreciation for our rather unique style. In fact each of our rooms are a little different and decidedly less conventional. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to try out a variety of them, Until then, thank you again.

Stayed just one night here over Labour Day weekend. Online booking was slick. Check-in was quick and friendly. Room is a bit on the small side but for just one person it was fine. Clean and bright - the whole place has a neat and tidy feel to it. There was a band playing at the park nearby but they...

Simply loved this hotel. It was in a fabulous location - easy walk to many food/drink spots, many of which were outstanding! - staffed with great people, and was full of Victorian charm. I beg of you - don't be put off by the shared bathrooms! They are kept wonderfully clean. And since the hotel is on the smaller side,...

On first arrival the hotel does look quite run down, but the front desk staff were charming and polite. Our room was a pleasant surprise. I'd booked a king-size room and it was absolutely huge. The bed was also very comfy. We were a bit warm overall but leaving the windows open did fix this problem. Breakfast was really disappointing...

Well Pam S we're thankful we exceeded your initial expectations. I'm disappointed that you found our croissants less desirable. They're baked fresh each morning by Fauburg one of the best French bakers in town. C'est la vie. As for the wi-fi, we just finished a complete upgrade to our system and now boast one of the fastest "multi-input, multi-output networks...

This is the second time we have stayed at the Victorian Hotel. It is a Hotel with lots of character and charm. The hotel staff was very accommodating, helping us with reservations for dinner, transportation advice, even finding us non-allergenic pillows very late at night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, beds with nice linens. We will always come here...

A well positioned hotel within a few minutes walk of Gastown and local shops. Hotel built in 1890 but modernised. A wonderful combination of olde world with modern amenities. Lovely light bright room with ensuite bathroom. Breakfast ...plenty of it. Cornflakes the only cereal but lovely fruit salad, croissants and several breads. Not heaps of choice but adequate. Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
