I believe the age of the hotel must seem more charming to those who have been coming here for a while, as our bathroom had a shabby wooden veneer in need of paint and the furniture had stained spots. I also didn't realize, as a...More

Thank-you for sharing your thoughts about your stay with us, I am disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I know that we may not be to everyone's taste, but those that do stay here (as the reviews say) enjoy their stay...More

We selected this based on the trip advisor reviews. It is a great location, right across from English bay, and near Stanley park. I wouldn't describe the hotel as charming, though, as it was really shadowing wear and tear. The bathroom was clean, but in...More

We chose the Sylvia based on Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. As we were staying for 7 days we decided to pay a bit extra for a King room for some more space which suited our purposes extremely well. This is a heritage...More

Spent this year's birthday at this grand old hotel on the bay. The Sylvia has a good restaurant and comfy bar. Our room however, with a partial view, is dated and the view is marginal ... you have to stand at a corner window to...More

We arrived here after an overnight flight from UK with luggage for a 3 week stay travelling around British Columbia. The driver went to what appeared to be the front entrance flight of steps and tried to find a porter - while we are both...More

Thanks for your review about your stay with us. I will speak to the bellman about being more attentive to guests arriving by taxi to try and offer some help with bags. We do not have porters to assist guest at their car but do...More
