I enjoy spontaneous travel. But this is twice now I've embarked on a trip to Vancouver spontaneously and had a terrible time finding a room. It's not like in the U.S. Where you can drive out of the city and find a hotel. All the hotels are pretty much in town and all the rooms were taken for 1 night....

We were disappointed to read about your recent visit to Vancouver. It is highly recommended that when travelling to Vancouver, particularly during the summer travel season of May through August, that reservations be secured prior to arrival. We were pleased we were able to provide you and your family with accommodation and hope that ultimately you enjoyed your stay. Should...

We stayed here for 6 nights during a major conference at the Convention Center. The location could not have been more convenient. The room was beautiful, with truly spectacular views across to the mountains. We appreciated that the room had operable windows, which allowed us to get some fresh air. The view was so fine that we were tempted to...

As a former Vancouver native I warned my partner when we booked this hotel that it had the best views and pool in town, but might be dated. I am most happy to say after a 6 day stay that while I was VERY right about the first two (gorgeous!) I was totally mistaken on the last. Our room on...

This place was a luxurious experience - from the breath-taking views of the bay, to the well-appointed gym, terrific public areas and lobby, great helpful attitude of concierge and staff, nice roomy rooms, and an overall sense that this place is well-organized and well-run. I could have stayed a month, no problem.

I had a harbor view room on the 20th floor. The good: reasonably quiet (with obviously no street noise at all), fabulous views out over the water, the bridge, the mountains in the distance, North Vancouver, etc., great service, for a high rise, never a wait for the (uncrowded) elevators even though the hotel was full, great location near the...

The Hotel is located in centre of town and next to the exhibition grounds. If you are visiting an exhibition or going onto a cruise then this is a perfect place. For me the hotel is more of a 4 star hotel then a 5 star hotel. The Lobby is situated almost 3 levels above the ground, and when entering...

Big modern hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff. Booked as part of a cruise package so can't quote room rates. Have stayed twice now and the views over the cityscape are great from the higher floors. Large light and aired rooms. So close to the cruise terminal that you can walk down within a couple of minutes. Lots of...

Great hotel. Excellent service. Request king room with harbor view if possible. Extraordinarily quiet location even though cruise ships dock at Canada Place and seaplanes take off in the harbor. Just adds to the sense of liveliness and activity. Water Street shops and food a couple blocks away. Convention Center next door. Central to everything. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific because it is literally on top of the cruise terminal, and they transfer the luggage directly to the ship. But is a must for anyone. We had a corner room on the 20th floor overlooking the harbor and the mountains. We loved just sitting and looking. You don't have to be that high, but...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
