I'm in Vancouver at least once a month on business. This is one of my two preferred hotels. The staff at the Coast are excellent and the location is ridiculously close to the seaplane terminal. My only issue--it's all booked up for the next time to need to overnight in Vancouver!

Had a great stay here in September -- enjoyed the view, the room, and (especially) the hotel, Preston's. So few hotels have notable restaurants that some visitors might overlook this one, and that'd be a big mistake. My meal at Preston's was the best I had in a week of very good dining in Vancouver -- innovative food that was...

I was pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff and the over-all condition of the room. The hotel provided a $5 coupon to the restaurant for choosing the green option, which I was able to take advantage of. It definitely made me want to come back and stay another time.

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. It is not luxury, but good basic hotel at a very reasonable rate for Vancouver. The rooms are pretty average, but good quality beds. Room service for breakfast came 15 minutes before the requested time which caught us unprepared, but the food was ok. The lobby is nice and bright, and the...

Got a great deal through Hotwire and was very pleased. Very nice hotel staff. Spacious and clean room with great location downtown, close to convention center which was exactly what we were after. Parking is expensive and valet only (great valets though and no waiting).

- Front staff sent us up to a dirty room - Check-in time was supposed to be at 3pm, but by the time our rooms were ready, it was past 4:30pm. - Manager only offered us 1 round of free drinks; until we complained and finally got free parking - Front-desk staff and hotel managers were rude - Preemptively, excessive...

We made a last-minute booking at the Coast Coal Harbor Hotel in late August when a severe windstorm made it impossible to get to our intended destination north of Vancouver. We were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel's location, contemporary design, cleanliness, and well-equipped rooms. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. We will certainly return in...

I was very impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. The hotel has beautiful facilities, fresh orchids and refreshments available at all times. The location of the hotel is excellent; all my favorite shopping areas were a short walk away. The hotel staff were happy to Hokd our luggage after we checked out, and offered access to a 'freshening up...

Comfortable rooms and views if you get the right room. Restaurant served a good breakfast from the menu or the buffet. Good location for the sites. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops, close to promenade area. A little lacking in character but good as a base.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
