This is a good location, right on Okanagan Lake. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were better than average for hotel pillows. The location is literally 20 steps from the beach. That's pretty much where the positive part of this review ends. When I called to advise that we were running late and would be checking in 90 minutes or so later than we had indicated when we booked the room, I was told that would be okay, "as long as we didn't take all night". We hustled along and checked in about an hour later than we had planned. The reason for the clerk's response became apparent, as she and any other staff vanished as soon as we'd checked in; the office closed up and guests were on their own. Judging by the number of plants in windows, and cats strolling about, at least some of the rooms in the motel are occupied by long-term residents, who clearly don't feel any obligation to abide by the "No Smoking" signs around the property. We are non-smokers, so this was uncomfortable for us. The room was large, but poorly lit. At first glance, it looked pretty clean, but the bathroom floor was just plain-old dirty. The $50 extra charge for our dogs ($25 for each) drove the already high price of the room into a range that just didn't match the experience. I imagine that the pricing is driven by the very good location...lesson learned for me for next time!…
We had 2 rooms here last week and really enjoyed our stay! The new management is great, you can see they’re trying to do some renos and improvements. The price is a steal for a large room right across from okanagan lake and central to great restaurants etc. We have stayed in a few hotels on this strip and this was just as good if not better than any of them. We will stay here again.
This was our 6th time staying here.(under old and new management) and have never had a problem. Glenn and the staff are very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. We stay here time and time again, the rooms are clean with housekeeping and fresh linens every day. The resort is quiet and perfect place just steps from the beach. We will see you next year.🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
We've stayed at the Rochester many times over the last 15 years. Managers come and go, but Glen and the current staff are great (not easy in a town with "help wanted" signs everywhere). We favour the upstairs suite, but we've stayed in other rooms as well. All good. There's no pool, but who needs one? There's a lake across the street -and if it's chilly weather, the Penticton rec centre is a 3 minutes drive to a huge pool, leisure pool and hot tub. Tip - I work in swimming pool management, and I NEVER swim in hotel pools, especially hot tubs!!
We stayed here for 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite. The suite was clean and the kitchen reasonably equipped (although salt and pepper would be much appreciated). The bed was comfortable, the sofa appeared to be new and the table and chairs relatively new. The WiFi was excellent. The housekeeping staff couldn't have been nicer and Glenn, the manager, so helpful. The suite was spacious for 2 people. The beach is right across the road and there is a pedestrian crossing practically right in front of resort. There is a small spraypark a few steps away along with a a decent playground, tennis courts and a nicely shaded picnic area. There are lots of restaurant choices close by. All in all a good place to stay in Penticton at a good price. We would definitely stay there again.
