Moving house from Calgary, out to Vancouver Island was a real pain in he neck, made even more so by the fact that our moving company made a huge screw-up and ended up being unable to deliver our furniture on the day we'd originally agreed on! After several heated phone calls, they agreed to pay for a night's accommodation for...

Great service from the front desk staff at check in and check out. The the room, restaurant and conference rooms were all top notch. Downtown Nanaimo location was super for walking along the pier and waterfront, and also for access to shopping in the city centre, a close by shopping centre, casino, and coffee shops/restaurants.

Was right next door to our show, so was able to walk to theatre. So didn't have to worry about parking. The front desk and restaurant staff very friendly. Woke up Easter morning and the Easter bunny hadn't arrived. 😱

We were there for a convention. The hotel and service was great. Comfortable beds, room and bathroom clean. The restaurant is big, has a bar. The food is great. We had the buffet dinner and we also got a percentage off of our bill for staying there. The waiters were friendly and efficient.

I spend over 50 nights a year away from home for business. The Coast Bastion is consistently in the top two. I find it to be a restful oasis in the midst of the craziness of life. I highly recommend the Coast Bastion.

Very well located in downtown Nanaimo right on the harbour. The harbour view is worth the upgrade. Clean and spacious room. But I didn't feel at home. Took me a while to understand why: the hotel in general and the room decor in particular is dated / old fashioned. IMHO of course. If not for that it would have been...

Excellent location in downtown Nanaimo with various dining choices within walking distance. Had a comfortable and well appointed room with a partial ocean view. Room service was very prompt and on time. Food delivered was hot and very tasty. Only thing was that the two hotel elevators were fairly small and quite slow, especially as the hotel was full.

The Coast Bastion is our hotel of choice when we visit Nanaimo. The staff from check in, restaurant, housekeeping were excellent. The gym is ok, a little dark on the basement floor. Had basic equipment, but didn't feel welcoming. Utilized the spa, massage and had my nails done. Pleasant experience. Food was great in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good...

Every room has a balcony and harbour view - ours was fantastic! Clean, stylish, well maintained. Staff were so friendly and helpful, going out of their way to find out about local attractions' hours and accessibility for us. Great location - two minute walk from the harbour and right in the heart of downtown. Minutes walk to everything!

“The beds are very comfortable - and VERY high. We needed to contact the front desk to borrow a step stool for the short guest to get onto the bed (she could not sit on it, either); the taller guest felt that the bed was too high, too. Great response from the desk and quick response. Maybe an odd comment to be making but you will want to get into the great bed and if you or a companion are short you will not be able to manage.”
