This was our first visit to Kelowna. We traveled with friends as a group of 4 for a wedding. Pros: location was great, depending on your room, your balcony can have a fantastic view. Size was good. Cleanliness was ok. Access to the gym and pool. Underground parking. Cons: we only had 1 key for the 4 of us which made it extremely difficult, since one of us was the photographer for the wedding and another the hairstylist. We had to plan around that 1 key. No TV in the living area, just in 1 of the bedrooms. We're asked to do laundry before leaving and also, no hairblower to dry your hair.
Booked a condo for the month of May 2022. Common areas were well kept but the condo we rented was grimy and dirty. It likely hadn't had a good cleaning in years. We went out and got our own cleaning supplies and spent a full day cleaning. It took a full 18 Wetmop pads to remove the accumulated grime from the tile floors.
I want to commend Brian of Playa del Sol. We have all read of the troubles travellers have had when pandemic restrictions have caused cancellations . Brian was excellent and understanding when the Province declared non essential travel to Kelowna should be avoided. He immediately understood and took care without issue. Thankyou, we will be visiting when all this is over.
The Playa del Sol Resort was in a perfect location for our family holiday. The complex has a very nice pool, a parkade, work out room and beautiful patios off the units. We were close to the beaches, close to restaurants, shops and other activities. We rented unit 346 which is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.
Stayed in a large 2 bedroom loft unit 470 Pro Super nice condo with lots of space Complete Kitchen Lots of linens and in-unit laundry 3 mins walk to best beach, perfect for families Nice Pool ok Balcony No cleaning fee Non-smoking all around Con: Busy pool at peak time If you have reduced mobility do not stay there A/C can be a little high, but it was a very hot week Loved the stay at Playa, Restaurants in the area are not good, we tried Smash Dab, Basil and mint, Taste of India they all sucked and Customer Service is horrible. California Tacos at the beach has horrible customer service as well, but amazing food. Bryan from Western Canadian Reservation is amazing.... He went out of his way for us.
We rented a condo through Okanagan Vacation Home Rentals for a week this August. The property is in a great location with biking trails nearby and within a few minutes' walk of Rotary Beach. The condo was a great size for our family of five but that is about where the positives ended. There were a lot of little problems, which wouldn't have been an issue if it was just one or two, but they just added up to become too much of a hassle. Our first issue was with the rental company itself. The booking process was easy enough and the representative was very helpful and courteous initially. Our stay began on a Saturday though which is where the issues started. The company is only open weekdays and there are extensive instructions on how to pick up the property keys on the weekend. First of all, the address the rental agent gave me was incorrect as two digits were reversed so we couldn't figure out where to pickup our keys. As the rental company is closed on weekends, there was no one to answer the telephone to ask for assistance. After about 30 minutes of walking up and down the road looking at multiple different buildings we finally found a lockbox attached to a fence with our key inside. Once we arrived at the resort, the key fob did not work to enter the lobby of the building but fortunately another guest was leaving so I was able to enter, otherwise I don't know how we would have entered the building and been able to access our condo. We found out a couple days later that the key fob we had picked up in the lockbox was for an entirely different building in a different part of town. How unprofessional and disorganized of the rental company! The access code for the bike storage, again provided by the rental company, was incorrect as well. The e-mail confirmation they provided strongly suggested locking any bikes in the bike storage for safety reasons, but we noticed most guests either had their bikes on bike racks on vehicles in the garage or locked up in front of the building. We soon noticed why. The bike storage areas on both levels were completely full to the point they would not fit a single additional bike. Most bikes in there looked like they hadn't been moved in months too as they were covered in dust, so we assumed it was potentially the property owners who stored their bikes in there year round. We were given a new access code to the storage the next day but were still not able to use it due to lack of space. The toilet in the main bathroom overflowed with the first flush so before we even unpacked we were cleaning up the mess and unclogging a toilet as there was no maintenance to report it to. At first glance, the condo is quite modern looking and nice but the property is definitely older than the pictures depict. Also, upon further inspection, it was incredibly dirty and in need of a deep clean. Floors were dirty, bathrooms rather hastily cleaned and the corners of rooms had a lot of pet hair and dirt buildup. The room also smelled like stale smoke, which is odd since the entire building is supposed to be non smoking. We did not go in the pool once as it was just too crowded for comfort during Covid times and guests were almost shoulder to shoulder in the pool the few times we did try to use it. There was a security guard that was supposed to be monitoring the number of guests but he didn't even look up from his phone once anytime we were on the pool deck waiting for the crowd to die down. The dryer was broken as well so we were unable to do any laundry. Finally, the kitchen lacked some basic utensils which seemed really odd. There was no cutting board, no can opener and no vegetable peeler, all items which are kind of essential when you're trying to cook meals for a family for a week. I did e-mail representative I had been dealing with at Okanagan Vacation Rentals about half way through our stay to let her know about some of the problems we were running into but never heard anything back. Our family is well traveled and we have stayed in a variety of different properties and I've learned to go with the flow over the years and not sweat the little stuff. But the issues we ran into just accumulated to too much of a headache and I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the property or the rental company or use it again for our family in the future.…
We recently spent three nights at the very conveniently located Playa de Sol. Ours was a two bedroom unit with a lovely view of the water. It was very well equipped and comfortable. Our only comment is there was a little too much clutter, definitely not the sparse decor very common now. The location makes it quite walkable to restaurants, waterfront, etc.
Playa del Sol is a large complex. The company did not provide us with any information about the layout of the parkade or the complex. We spent 15 minutes finding our parking stall and had to be let in by another vehicle. The expectation was to go to the unit, get the FOB, come back down and then figure out where the stall was. Then figure out where you unit was. Very time consuming and frustrating. Unit 312 is old and needs attention. Our towels were still damp, microwave dirty, fridge had a layer of ice, shower rod broke and fell on my husband and had to be replaced. There is no mirror in the bedroom and with one bathroom it was challenging tor both of us to get ready. The salad bowl had a huge crack and should be discarded. The queen bed is old and the bedding is old. Furniture old. Rug is stained.Upon contacting via text the responder said Eugene was not available however as my complaints escalated he appeared on line. Overall customer service was poor, cleaning inadequate and unit very old. I would not recommend dealing with this company or renting their property.…
Lovely room on the 6th floor overlooking the pool and the lake. All the amenities you need in the room and the bed was quite comfy. The pool, although noisy with children, was adequate to sunbathe. My only criticism would be the number of dogs on site when the rules state "No Dogs". Seems there are rules everywhere, but few are enforced, although there is a security guard checking the pool area from time to time. I will be staying here again.
My family and I stay here all the time, my mom got married this summer and most of our family were able to book here and most of the rooms are very big. The bunk beds in our room are like spelling on brick and could use and updated mattress , I’m pretty sure there’s pee stains on the sheets. It’s very family friendly here and the pool is awesome. The staff if you could find any are not friendly and it’s very hard to find your way around if it’s your first time here.
