Not bad, but maybe too noisy even for a hostel. It looks more like a place to party than a place where to stay to sleep. We stayed in the private room and were able to hear everything in the room next to us.
I booked this hostel for two nights for my boyfriend and I. When I called up, I asked for a private but was informed they had a private for only one night. The receptionist instead suggested a double which I was happy to book. What she failed to mention was this double was actually a double bed in a 6 bed mixed dorm room. I understood double as a double bed in a private room however, I was disappointed to check in and find double was actually a double bed, the bottom bunk in a mixed dorm room. I was the only female in the room and we were in with the long term stayers. It was hard to sleep because two of the guys were snoring. There was very little space as two of the guys had several large suitcases. There were no lockers left so our personal belongings were stored under the bed. Finally the door didn't have a lock so none of us had a key. The positives- the breakfast is included and is free. So we were able to stock up on pancakes and enjoyed a tea/coffee both mornings. The hostel was busy so it was easy to talk to people. The location is great, easy to walk into town. The negatives- the hostel is small and when we were there it was fully booked. There were people sleeping inside on the couch and there was very little space to really socialise with other backpackers. There are only two bathrooms so sure enough you have to wait in line to shower. Finally there is very little parking.…
Awful compared to other hostels! The hostel was incredibly small and there were strangely people asleep on the living room floor as we arrived. As two female travellers, we were shown to our 4 bed dorm room and we were surprised to discover it did not have a lock on the door - it could be opened freely by anyone in the hostel, something which is standard of all of the rooms. It was also incredibly stuffy, I’d assume this was due to the hot weather as opposed to a long term issue. The beds were ridiculously loud and creaky and in desperate need of some oil or just a replacement. The most surprising part of our stay was that there were only two showers and toilets for an entire floor of guests. It took over 2 hours for it to be free in the morning and we ended up having to ask another local hostel if we could use their facilities. We complained and opted to leave the hostel, however, when we requested a refund for the remainder of our stay we were refused and only offered vouchers to come back another time - something we understandably didn’t welcome after leaving as we were unhappy. The first and only hostel I’ve ever needed to complain about, which was incredibly shocking after reading such positive reviews.…
It cheap and lively mostly young westerner types great place to meet people. Big party house with liquor store nearby. All the dorm rooms are co-Ed. They do have some private rooms too. That’s all that needs to be said! Fast free wifi. Free street parking, free morning pancake and coffee and in a quiet neighbourhood away from the main highway but the late night karaoke party you’ll want to sleep in!!!!
Super fun place for a couple nights. great atmosphere and super friendly staff that helped us with anything we needed. They recommended the best spot for pizza (hansons!!) Oh and Amazingly clean! They aren't joking on the website!!
On the website you'll read that the hostel is committed to providing a very clean and cozy accomodation. Mission accomplished! Don't get distracted by the outside appearance of the building. It's not a new one, beds won't be the most comfortable you'll sleep in, but you'll always see someone of the staff cleaning around and the place is quaint whatsoever! The kitchen ain't big, but there's lots of pots and appliances free to use. The breakfast is offered (pancakes, peanut butter, jam, Nutella etc.) and there's Netflix and Xbox available too. The closest grocery store is Save-on-foods (a 15 minutes walk), downtown is within a walkable distance as well and the beaches of the Okanagan Lake are few minutes away!
I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting a friend in Kelowna hospital. The hostel is a quick block away so made it easy to get back and forth. The hostel itself is really funky and perfect for the young travellers. There is a real friendly vibe in the place and I felt welcome even though I am a woman in my 60's. If you need your own space and can pay top dollar for a hotel room them you better do that, but if you don't mind a younger crowd and need a cheap bed and clen shower near the hospital. Then this is your place.
I was there again in July 2017, great place, overall great staff and good location near the lake. See ya all in 2018! Its close to DT and bars etc and very close to swim! Its fun at night as you can have a cold one on the deck and chat with folks from all over the world.
Good location close to Gyro Beach and downtown. Matthew (Manager) was a lot of help when we overbooked for a stag party over the weekend. One negative is that they don't take AMEX, but the hostel looks really nice and the location cant be beat in the summer. Good customer service overall and a nice place to stay.
I've stayed in hostels for the last 5 years and this one is my favorite. By far the best hostel in BC. Super atmosphere great staff and comfi beds. I would absolutely recommend staying at this hostel when in Kelowna. I'll definitely be back soon !! :)
