Stayed for a night at the commercial hotel and it was PERFECT. there was a great blue show at the bar downstairs, the room was clean, dated, but i mean, who cares for 60$ for the night. It was the perfect hotel for the night trip in Edmonton my friend and I did - and we will be staying there...

For $100 a night this does the job if you just want to go upstairs after having a good time downstairs at Blues on Whyte. Room was dated but clean. I got the kingsize bed with my own bathriom. Ask for a room on the back side if you are a light sleeper as the sound from Whyte Avenue may...

If you happen to be trucking through Edmonton and you're looking for a cheap place to hang your hat and you like HBO and you love the blues and you wouldn't mind being in the city's coolest neighbourhood to boot, the Strathcona, then it's the Commercial Hotel, which is right next to Blues on Whyte. For $60, walk-in rate, I...

Rooms are small and dank but that matters little when you don't want to take a cab or get a DUI because you spent all your hard earned dollars on liquor and found some chick willing to take a ride on the pony.

They didn't have my reservation even though I called in before hand to double check. The place is under construction and looks awful. Rooms are disgusting and only have one electrical outlet. If this is your last option, you're better off sleeping in your car. Staff is rude and poorly managed, and it's full of homeless people yelling at you...

Terrible experience.Stinky rooms and hallways, showers that don't work most of the time or only have cold water.Junkies central. Not safe.Lots of fights and shouting, screaming and arguments right outside.A big woman at the front desk.very racist and just staring at me all the time.Don't use your credits card at this hotel. Couldn't be worse

I like hotels that are old school. You get a room, give them the cash, they take down your drivers license number, you give them a key deposit and then you get a key. Simple. The rooms are cheap and you are in the center of the action on Edmontons famed South Side. I support hotels like this because there...

My husband purchased a weekend stay at a fundraiser so we decided to use it to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary Aug. 22-24. We stayed in a beautifully renovated room with a king sized bed, flat screen TV, comfy couch and a great view of historic Whyte Avenue. From the moment we checked in until we sadly had to leave...

I was greeted by bored and unfriendly staff in a dingy lobby so I wasn't expecting much. When I was walking to my room I was disgusted by how filthy and awful the hallway was. Strong smell of stale smoke and also marijuana smoke. But after traveling for 2 days with no sleep or a shower I was too tired...

There are better places to stay (almost any other hotel is a better place to sleep), but the bar in this place (Blues on Whyte) is a must if you are into supporting live music and musicians. Bikers, despite the stereotype, actually make places safer because they do not like petty trouble. I am not familiar enough with the crowds...

“This is on Whyte Avenue which has a great daytime shopping/eating/pedestrian experience followed by a very active nightlife. If you enjoy all of those things, simply book a very affordable renovated room. If you are not looking for late night activity, stay somewhere else - there are tonnes of great options in Edmonton.”
