Travellers' Choice
Escape to the hills and dales of the Peak District National Park. Stay and enjoy our brand of stylish cottages or relax in the Manor House. The house is available for exclusive hire for groups of six guests or combined with the cottages in the grounds, making a maximum of 10 guests. Alstonefield Manor is set within an acre of walled gardens in the picturesque village of Alstonefield and provides a secluded setting in the hills above the Dovedale Valley. With miles of walking right from the door, it’s a perfect place to explore the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. After a day walking the hills you can settle in beside the fire and take a stroll up the lane to the famous George Inn for an evening meal. We have a selection of cottages in the village and surrounding areas, all situated in unique locations providing walking and cycling routes from the door. Our cottages can accommodate two or four guests and can also be combined for larger groups. Redefining country style.

We had a lovely short break at the Estate Rooms, Alstonefield Manor in June this year. This was a fantastic location for exploring the area, and we enjoyed coming back to the spacious and luxurious rooms after our walks in the Derbyshire Dales. Robert and Jo made us so welcome and it was delightful to be shown round the wonderful gardens - all so beautifully maintained. Thank you!

We have just returned from staying at the Redstart Cottage, Parwich Lees. The location of the cottage was perfect, 20minute walk to the pub and lots of walks to choose from. The cottage is an upside down cottage to make the most of the beautiful views, which are stunning! The cottage is decorated lovely and has the majority of things needed for a self catering stay. It has a comfortable open plan living/kitchen/diner area and a good size double bedroom. Outside, the cottage has a shared driveway and garden/lawn space with two other cottages, which was the disappointing part to our stay. We had found the cottage though a third party website, which advertised the cottage as having your own enclosed garden to enjoy the views. This was really important to us as our dog can be a little unsociable when she feels like it, so we would want our own garden. As it’s a shared drive, the gate was open the majority of time but it does have a. It gap which a small dog might get through. The garden is an open lawn space, which has allocated picnic benches for each cottage, but are all together (socially distanced of course). This meant we were not comfortable letting the dog off and so were constantly on guard as children were playing (this is our issue). I’m sure this would work well for others, but just not for us. I have to say the grounds were maintained beautifully and looks out into fields with livestock. The cottage itself was lovely and we will definitely look to return to Parwich, however we will unfortunately not be returning to this particular cottage due to the garden issue. If I had known beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have booked and so have highlighted it to the website.

Lovely cottage in perfect location for direct access to the Peak District from your doorstep. Cottage was well equipped and very clean. The log burner enabled lovely cosy evenings after a tiring day walking.
