Really nice old house. Good breakfast and customer focus. Really well decorated, run by a couple who can still be motivated - they must be a bit tired by now. Keeping on top of the decor after sixteen years. Nice countryside Quiet Good bathrooms

Our one-night stay took advantage of a promotional discount; a full-price stay would have been poor value. The Inn is well located in a quiet village. The room was large but tired. The bed was comfortable; but the absence in the room of a kettle (unusual use of a filter coffee maker to boil water) was inconvenient. Food at dinner... More

Excellent in all respects, including food, rooms and general comfort; and friendly to dogs too, so great for walkers as well as visitors to the region. Thoroughly recommend this hotel and Inn in every respect !

My family stayed for a few nights and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were attentive and the British pub was warm and welcoming. For the evening meals we enjoyed some lovely cuisine and loved the open kitchen and on the second day dining by the pretty garden was a quintessentially British experience for us. The rooms... More

Family lunch at the Inn, a wonderful friendly relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. Kids loved playing in the beautiful garden. Great menu everyone catered for including child's portions. Good wine list and great recommendation of wine. Overall a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in such a beautiful village.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in March. Very nice room, with really comfy bed and nice modern bathroom - and yet very reasonably priced. Great breakfast and generally a wonderful, welcoming small hotel. Dinner with colleagues was equally impressive - reviewed separately.

Just had a lovely evening and great food in this charming Inn. Immediately we entered from the cold evening air the warm welcome was matched by the cozy atmosphere set off by the lovely open fire. The menu provides excellent choice and the service was very attentive throughout. The food was absolutely first class. In fact we had such a... More

The bedrooms here are lovely- nicely decorated, warm, comfortable bed and very friendly owners. Book direct rather than via one of the booking sites to get their best rates. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Great restaurant and very comfortable bar area. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Local to this area... A Friday evening spent at The Inn at Grinshill, and what a wonderful one it was!! Truly delicious food, which we were both salivating from and we were still talking about it days afterwards! Served by the owners with a wonderfully, friendly disposition and excellent and engaging customer service skills. Felt totally welcomed and relaxed with... More

This is as close as it comes for me to the perfect small inn - lovely location with great walks from the door, beautiful old building, amazing food. It's a bit quirky, friendly, caters to locals as well as visitors, not at all pretentious and comfortable. What more can you ask. If I have anything to criticise the coffee at... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly a coaching Inn, our establishment today is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary décor. Its transformation began in 2001 when we bought it and over 18 months we set about a dramatic rebuild and restoration. Although many thought us foolhardy and overly ambitious, today, even much changed, the Inn evokes a sense of its own history. Above all else, we and our team work to ensure our guests enjoy the very best in hospitality. The Inn is a Grade 2 listed Georgian property, in a conservation area, located in the lee of Grinshill which is a site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a little train station in the next village which is a short stroll away, adding to the charm of this rural retreat. ... more   less
