Bad treatment! We had booked a Shepherd's Hut for the weekend at the end of August excited to finally experience Mt Druid and as a post lockdown treat. However, a couple of weeks after we made our booking we received an very blase email from Eleanor cancelling our booking explaining that she had decided to accept a corporate booking for that weekend instead. The corporate customer required the whole site exclusively therefore, we were cancelled. Never before had I felt so undervalued as a customer. We were offered an alternative weekend at a discounted rate (no mention of what the discount would be) but we decided against it and instead made a booking elsewhere - why give them business when they undervalue the individual! Very bad customer service, clearly just chasing the cash. Ps... Mt Druid is not pet friendly as advertised here on TripAdvisor. During my initial enquiries with Mt.Druid I asked if my small dog could come but was told because it is a farm dogs cannot be accommodated. This is not a criticism BTW, but just clarifying the point.

We visited the venue as part of our friends wedding. The ceremony took place out in the open on the top of a hill which was stunning and beautiful. The couple had arranged their own sound system I think but because it was very windy on the day, it proved priceless as outside we wouldn’t have heard anything. Before you arrive into the venue, you are blown away by the grounds and the surroundings, they are stunning, especially on a good bright summers day. There are two main reception venues, 1 was the boathouse where we gathered before the ceremony and again after it, it is a gorgeous little building over looking the ponds and grounds beyond. We had canopes here after the ceremony and the food was excellent. The only down side to this was, on of the staff was roaming around in GAA shorts and a sleeveless top, it wasn’t a big deal but didn’t seem appropriate for a wedding reception. The design and decor of the boathouse was very boutique and classy. Which is a common theme throughout. The other venue is the main hall where we had the wedding breakfast, it is a converted/extended farm/hay shed but is finished very well, even though it was clearly finished on a budget. Again, the food was excellent for the main meal and the evening nibbles. We stayed in a Tigín, which is a stone cabin. The cabin is small but more than adequate with a bed, lamp, chair and stove. There was only a five amp plug socket, so we couldn’t charge our phone over night, but they do warn you of this in advance so we couldn’t complain. The one complaint we had which is a serious one, there was no way to lock the cabin door from the outside, so we couldn’t leave any valuables in the cabin. Due to the nature of the venue, the security is not strict, especially after hours, so anyone couldn’t walk or drive in and pretend to be part of the group. What was ver frustrating for us, my wife went back to the cabin early and I came back about an hour later, during this time she couldn’t lock the door from the inside because then I would need to wake her upon my return. It was just too complicated and very unnecessary,... just put locks on the cabin doors. Also, neither window shut properly, which was annoying but as it was summer, it wasn’t a big deal. Overall brilliant wedding venue especially if you are looking for an alternative venue. But sort out some locks on doors and don’t allow staff to work with sports gear on.

Attended a wedding yesterday in Mount Druid. From the moment we arrived the service we received was top class. Friendly, efficient, courteous staff. We stayed in a yurt on site. An adventure in itself. It went beyond our expectations. Very comfy beds, stove for warmth which was lit while we were at the wedding. The Tin Chapel was beautifully decorated, the Boat House for the drinks reception was also so lovely (loved the shoes in the display cabinets). The reception in the main house was truly an experience. It was so casual, you felt you were in a friend’s house for dinner. Would highly recommend Mount Druid as an alternative wedding venue.

Mount Druid boutique camping was experience I would not want to miss. The facilities are amazing, clean, spacious and absolutely gorgeous. I stayed in a jurt, had dinner in the beautiful decorated barn and some wonderful drinks in the boathouse. When my friend‘s car broke down on the grounds (on a bank holiday Monday!) the staff organized a local mechanic to come by and fix it. They are friendly and super organized and are happy to help with whichever problem appears.

I can only review this place as a guest at a wedding held there - I did not stay as it appeared to me that better value and comfort was available in the village It's a quirky place but I can't fault the catering that was provided the night before the wedding - home made pizza in the boathouse - which everyone commented on. Similarly after the wedding in the tin church we had drinks and snacks which again were home made and very tasty. The wedding meal was in a large barn which was struggling to hold around 170 guests. It was nothing special but no complaints. This place is not a cheap option for a wedding and it could benefit from more investment. For example a lack of toilets (which are in a separat e block from the boathouse) and better toilets in the barn where the reception was held. Some of the infrastructure around the grounds needs attention.
