We visit Barcelo end of August and first week of September 2021. This resort has been our go to place for the past 12 years. Great resort, great service! One area we really enjoy is the adult pool. A big shout out to Angelica Acosta, Manuel Gonzalez, Alejandra Espinoza and Lazaro Solis, they are absolutely wonderful and love taking care of the guests. Always making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and having a great time.Breakfast and lunch at the Hacienda is always a great experience, especially when Carlos, Darwin and Roger are your waiters. Roger had a magic touch when preparing my coffee, always a great attitude and excellent service. The service staff at the Barcelo Palace was absolutely wonderful. Rooms are always very clean; showers are the best of any resort that I have visited. we have been visiting Barcelo Palace for over 12 years with family and friends. Before Barcelo no detail was overlooked they provide for you anything you need it from shoeshine kit to nail file now a bar of soap and hand sanitizer. Great selection of restaurants (Brazilian, French, and Italian, Japanese) and lots of buffet style restaurants that are always open. All the menus need to be updated; it has been the same as long as I have been visiting the resort. In March of this year, we decided to go back with the family, 9 adults and 2 children. We decided to book everything using the Barcelo travel service. From the start we had problems with the travel service. The first agent my husband spoke with never sent the email with the confirmation. My husband called a couple of days to confirm, and he was told that there was no record of us calling. Great!! Now we had to book the trip again. Everything booked, confirmation received. A month before the trip my husband called regarding the transportation service. He was told that there is no record of transportation. Are you kidding me!! We booked the reservations but no email confirmation. My husband called again, and he was told that he needed to email the transportation the airline information. My husband did just that. A week went by and no response from the transportation company. He sent the transportation company an email asking if anyone monitors emails. This time he received a response. Airline information updated. Good to go. Not so. Once we arrive there was quite a bit of confusion regarding the number of passengers, so more headaches. At the airport it was very hard to find BARCELO transportation they hire other companies to provide transportation for the guest and the person is holding a very small sigh in the middle of a sea of transportation coordinators and taxi drivers. Just when we though the nightmare ended, we were reminded that it was not. Checking in at the VIP PRIME was a horror show. Only 2 employees checking in guest. We arrived at 1:30 PM and by the time we were done with the checking process it was 4:30. 3 HOURS checking process! So much for VIP, this was the absolute worse! I do not blame the staff they worked with what administration provides for them. This place really needs to address their travel service, we have heard from other travelers that they have experience the same poor service. The VIP needs lots of improvement as well or they will start to lose loyal clients like us. I called housekeeping for 2 extra pillows and a pad for the mattress they never came, I had to take 2 pillows from my child’s room. To be fair, this is the only year we have had this type of experience and we will go back but if what we experience this last time occurs again then we will be finding a new place to go. This was our fifth time to the Barcelo Palace and the service was still outstanding. Food was great. All rooms were excellent: 1 Premium Suite Ocean View Michochan, 1 Premium Junior Suite Pool View Oxacana and 1 regular Junior Suite Garden View Michochan. House Keeping came for all 3 and service was wonderful for each. (The Suite was amazing! Cannot recommend it enough!!) Maria Palomino at the Premium Lounge Check-in was excellent! She made our experience with check-in enjoyable. Dinner reservations (for 6 adults) were not a problem and we were able to get into any that we wanted. We just had to be flexible with the times given we were traveling with our grand-son who is 15 months old. Special thanks to the lady in the Premium Lounge who makes the best mixed drinks. (We didn't catch her name, but noticed she is expecting.) Our wait staff at the French Restaurant made our experience wonderful: Francisco Aras, Yuceli Jijon, Pablo, Carlos Tolentino, and Cesar Tellez. It was our best dinner! The pools were clean and amazing. We were always able to get drinks at any of the locations (Lobby bar, Swim up bar, Adult only pool) with no wait time to speak of. The beach did have a seaweed problem, but the staff worked around the clock to keep it clear day & night. (The beach location at the Tropical was a bit better than other locations. ) Buffet was enjoyable and all 6 of us plus 15 month old found something to eat...even those who are picky eaters were pleased. Schedule your COVID test upon arrival. It is in the lowest level of the Palace, across from the gym. We received our results same-day via email. No need to print off as Delta Airlines accepted the digital email copy. Once again, thanks again for a memorable family vacation. We stayed 6/25/21 thru 7/2/21…
I absolutely love this resort. This is my sixth time back and I truly appreciate all they have to offer. The pools and beach are my favorite. Abundant coral reefs to snorkeling right at the resort. No need to book an excursion to see beautiful Caribbean underwater life. The pool entertainment staff was amazing LUCIO, MARLON & NAHOMI
Love the pool , beach is close. Variety of food to choose from the buffets . Room was great . Activities at poolside are great especially the pool staff. They are wonderful . That includes: Eduardo lucio Naomi marlon
We travelled as a family of 3, including a toddler. It is also not our first all-inclusive experience. Certainly planning to return! Barcelo left us extremely impressed and pleased! Check-in was seamless and quick and our room was ready before 3pm. The property is extremely well-maintained, upgraded and spacious with beautiful art work. It is also kept super clean. We found the layout of the resort easy and walking-friendly. The water park for kids was a huge hit for us and we loved that it is located close enough to a deeper pool - we could watch our little one while enjoying a swim (what more can a parent ask for!). Lots of pools, all of them clean and warm. The food was incredible. We absolutely LOVED the menu, variety and quality. I honestly cannot rave enough about the seafood, sushi, fresh chicken and meat, fruits, deserts etc. It was absolutely amazing dining experience every day. The beach area has some rocky spots but we still had some wonderful swimming done. There was some seaweed but it was being taken care of promptly. Fitness area is well-equipped and air conditioned. Finally, the staff. Super professional, courteous and friendly people. They treat guests with care and respect without being overwhelming. Overall, we had the MOST enjoyable vacation. We had everything we needed and then some. No detail is overlooked at Barcelo.
