The employee in charge of front desk had the worst attitude towards my family and I as we came back from dinner on the beach this morning, claiming we were not allowed to enter since we were not guests of the hotel…… He called security escalating the issue to unnecessary levels of violence… he verified on guest list both our names appeared as we said and had to let us in… not even offering a sorry word, did not even give us his name… I have a foto , how do I send it to you!

Hotel Surf Olas Altas provided a solid experience. Would stay again!! The location is 10/10– right across from Zicatela beach, with a gorgeous and HUGE pool, the hotel is perfectly centered between restaurants, activities and nightlife. The only complaint is the very loud nightclub across the street that kept us up some nights, but if you can’t beat them, join them, so go check out Xcaanda and dance! Otherwise, there are dozens of quality restaurants and bars to choose from within a 5 minute walk. You can’t swim in the ocean right here, but taxis are cheap and fast to other swim beaches. My only complaint about this hotel regards the hotel room itself. A little paint could go a long way in updating the accommodations. Feels a tad dingy. The safe and hair dryer didn’t work. Not a huge deal. No deadbolt/second lock on the door made me a little uneasy. TV was small and staticky. Don’t depend on it. My balcony had a great view of the pool and ocean and the showers are awesome!! Air conditioning worked perfectly and was necessary. Staff was super nice, friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is pretty, arguably the nicest-looking in the vicinity. We spent little to no time in the room during the day, so it didn’t matter much that it felt outdated.

No Internet. Checked out early. Hotels that think it's acceptable in 2023 to have a hundred guests sharing one low bandwidth connection should be boycotted. It's like allowing guests 30 second showers, or only 1 hour of electricity per day. Totally unacceptable, and simply cheap on the part of management. Note that neither my cell phones (Telcel and AT&T) got a workable reception in that location, either.

Booked myself a Suite here for a solo Birthday getaway. The upgrade wasn’t worth it. There was no hot water in the shower which I had addressed twice but never fixed. The last time the gentleman downstairs said a maintenance guy would be coming to my room to explain the Hot water issue and I sat in my room waiting for someone who never came. It’s very disappointing because it featured a spa with jets which I never used cause of the cold water. It also has this elaborate “rain” hit everywhere shower system that had a bunch of the little rubber spouts picked out for some reason. The kitchen had nothing to support dish washing or even basic soap and hand towels. It provided only one set of utensils but did provide pots and pans. There was an external wooden closet with the doors jammed shut so it was basically unusable. The full body mirror appears to be glued on the wall and the glue squiggles appears though the reflection making it look very tacky. The decor has a very 70’s orange and white look that overall was more dated than I expected. Also, the ocean-view is obstructed by an unused small structure on top of the hotel restaurant roof. The hotel is across the street from the LOUDEST night spots in Zicatela but being a night owl it didn’t really affect me till the last night when I had to try n sleep for an early flight. You can expect loud DJ and Live music battling it out till 3am. I wouldn’t ever stay here again.. the cold showers alone are reason enough for me to book anywhere else next time.

Great location, nice pool good sized room but Horribly dirty tiled floors clearly never mopped, hopeless cleaning staff, rooms that with a little money could be lively etc This is a perfectly positioned hotel.that could be wonderful but due to lazy management and cheap owners is trading dishonesty.. its such a shame as well motivated staff and some money spent would transform this place. I have looked at 5 years of complaints for the same thing. All unanswered and ignored

Stayed there during our stay in Puerto Escondito and were looking for ahotel on the beach strip. The hotel is centrally located on the beach, just the road separating it from the beach (were you cannot swim since the waves are HUGE). Location is a plus, but keep in mind that there is a disco club just across the road making it impossible to sleep on the weekends (and i am usually a very hard sleeper...). The hotel itself is quite worn out, everything would need a complete makeover. And on the rooftop n there is a gym that plays music that loud, there is no rest during the day. Pool area is fairly clean but very small, not everyone will get a sunbed or shade. Breakfast is not served but only in a closeby restaurant on the road where service is on the slow side of things.... Would not recommend, there is plentiful other options around - look further!

Very cool entrance, clean and friendly. Desk reception spoke only Spanish however there was one person who spoke very good English so we had help there. Our room is clean and updated and the sunset view is amazing! Now the challenges. The sink didn't drain properly, no face cloths and very dim lighting in the bathroom. There was a utility noise that went off every 20 seconds, I counted as it woke me up several times throughout the night despite wearing ear plugs. There is also a beach club that played loud music until early morning. Had we known about that we wouldn't have stayed here. Other than these issues, it's a decent place.

Sit at breakfast and watch the surfers on Zicatela. Spend the evening after a day at the sea and relax in the lovely, spacious pool. There are abundant chairs with umbrellas to protect from the sun. Food and beverage totally acceptable.

My husband and I are from Portland Oregon and planned an EPIC trip to Mexico from mid January to mid february. We started in Puerta Vallarta and made our way down to Puerto Escondido, a groovy little surf town. Looking online we found this cute little inexpensive hotel and booked it for the last leg of our journey. We Scored with this place, right across the road from the beach, great cantina and restaurants, the have a nice swimming pool, laundry service and their own little bar/restaurant. I would stay here again

Hotel is very clean & conveniently located to restaurants & beach bars. It is right across the street from the beach with direct access. Elevator, pool, 2nd floor area to watch the sun set, watch the waves & surfers. They even had parking. There is an onsite restaurant/bar as well.
