Good value for money. Friendly staff. Large bed, clean room and spacious bathroom. Close to the wine region and not to far from the airport. Also close to st florent and a good base to explore the dramatic cap corse.

A small, family-run hotel with a warm, friendly approach. Rooms are really basic, so having booked just 1 night, we hesitated for a moment to book further. But the room was perfectly clean and fitted with A/C, which came very handy. They got us when we were given a garage to store our huge H-D Electra Glides without a surcharge. The other two nights were even cheaper than our initial online booking, which we also appreciated. Altogether, the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, speaking English and Italian. The view from the room was to the mountains, back roads and pastures, typical for the western part of Corsica. Re other amenities, near the hotel is a small grocery shop where only French is spoken. The closest beach is some 8 km away.

We ended up in this hotel through some misleading information from one of the hotel search websites. We were led to believe that the hotel was only about 5 kms from Bastia which seemed reasonable as we were getting the early morning ferry to Livorno. In the final event we found that hotel was some 22km across the mountains with only a couple of buses a day and none suitable to get us back to Bastia the next morning. As a result we ended up with a taxi both ways at Euro 50 Each way. The hotel however was quite pleasant and family run. We were on the first floor and there was no lift so we left our main luggage in a locker room. The room was clean and quiet. We walked up to the village in the evening which is about 2kms away and very picturesque. We found a couple of pleasant little bars and sampled some of the local rose wines. On our way back we found a nice little restaurant and gently rolled down the hill afterwards. The family were most helpful. Would have liked to have had more time to explore.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back would be quieter but not a particularly noisy place anyway

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and very friendly staff! I got one of the room on top floor but it seems that the wifi does not reach that floor nor the first! You can access to it only on ground floor though. The breakfast is not included in the booking but can be added! It consisted of basic food of breakfast: bread, butter, croissant, jam, milk, tea, coffee, yoghurt etc. Overall, the hotel is pretty good! And it is about 5-10 mins road to the centre by car and affordable price!

I visited the hotel la Palma in Patrimonio in September 2014 and I did not have a good experience. While staying in room #15 on the second floor I got bitten by bed bugs while I was sleeping at night. I suffered over 50 bites and killed a few bed bugs afterwards, so this was not just a single bug. Afterwards the staff helped me to wash all my clothes and put my things (laptop, shoes etc) into a freezer overnight to (hopefully) prevent me from accidentally bringing any bed bugs home. While the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast delicious, this incident affected my holiday on Corsica badly and I cannot recommend this hotel and I would not return.

Response from christophe b, Gérant at Hotel La Palma
Responded 7 Oct 2014
In response to this notice, I would first like to express my sympathy for this client and my regret that this experience has upset his stay in our beautiful region. I also want to say that the presence of bed bugs in room 15 (and only) was unknown to the management of the hotel and therefore difficult to predict, certainly carried in the luggage of a previous client. We have been trying for 7 years to satisfy our customers as best as possible with a warm welcome and personalized, quality products (breakfast and snack), also with improvements and renovations each year. Since this incident, we closed the room and make an effective treatment against these insects (more traces to date). This experience allowed us to look at this problem hitherto unknown to us, (quite common in hotels) and especially to increase our viligance. christophe B
