Detailed Reviews
The room was very clean with a nice view. Also the breakfast is very good and nice staff; only a car is required. There is a busstop but the bus doesn't go that often and a taxi to Lerici cost around 30€.

Nice hotel with great views and friendly staff. Typical sweet italian breakfast (sugar-added juices, brioches, fresh waffles... soy drink for muesli as a vegan option), unlogical corona rules in breakfast room.
The sitting options outside not as clean and nice as shown on the very professional fotos on their website. Room was clean and perfect for a shorter stay. Balcony and view were great, although the balcony was not cleaned regularly, but no problem for us.

All was as expected from online and other reviews. The view was beautiful, bathroom brand new, nice furnishing. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with a huge selection to cater to everyone's preferences, really.
Only downsides: poor internet connection in the room (we stayed to sit out a storm and had planned to work) and -as said in other reviews - the light walls (you do really hear your neighbours' every word).

We had a wonderful overnight stay and breakfast. Stayed in room 17 with our little dog and was perfect. Special thanks to Lorenzo you made arrangements for us to arrive late and also to the super-friendly Jessica (and Nutella machine!) at breakfast. We will definitely stay again in the future…Grazie mille🌟

Spacious. Great bathroom. Good breakfast with good variety. Ample parking if you're driving (use Waze iPad app to navigate). Try to get a room with a balcony. The hotel is close to the beach by car. Stay here for a vist to the Cinque Terre; take the ferry from Lerici.

Wanted to use this hotel as a base to explore the region. The hotel is very basic and location is not the best, compared with other hotels and B&B in the near by villages.
Breakfast was terrible, with all processed food and nothing fresh, not fruit or bread.
The humidity was very high and there was mold everywhere.
Could hear the guests on other rooms snoring and talking, not much insulation.
Luckily I had a navigator otherwise I could never find the hotel, which is located on the top of a hill (but with no view). The road to it was very narrow and dark. The mountain had several signs of caution, because of recent heavy rain.
In summary, it is not worth the average 75 euros charged per night. There are lots of lovely B&B around Sarzana which are much nicer.

Response from albergoserena, Manager at Albergo Serena
Responded 28 Jul 2012
Dear customer, we are very surprised that you have paid more than € 75,00 per night to stay at our hotel. The low-season tariff of the hotel is € 55,00 to have a double room. You might have reserved the hotel by an agency, which have earned more than necessary on your reservation. We have checked all the reservation from the month of november to the month of january, and the highest price we have found for a double room is € 55,00! So, the price is ok for the services that the hotel offers. Obviously, it is not a guilt of the hotel if the agency you have used to reserve the hotel has beguild you describing an hotel, location and service different from the ones you will find on the official website of the hotel. About the location: looking on the official internet website, it is clearly indicated that the hotel is set on an hill, not far from the see, but anyway an hill. There is even a google map's indication from which you can find the information to reach the hotel (for every gps, not only for the best). It is even indicated that the hotel is set in a rural contest, not far from the see - it is true - but anyway a rural contest. At the moment of the reservation customers have to choose if they desire to stay in the middle of the city (La Spezia is very rich of hotels) or far from the city. We are sure that the information written on the hotel's website really informate customers about the real being of the hotel.

For the price, the room is a good deal. It is sparsely decorated but clean with slate floors and bathroom. There is a little balcony with a nice hill view. Breakfast was typical with baked goods and yogurt though I was disappointed to see that much of the fruit was rotten. The real problem is that the hotel is very echoey and loud so I didn't sleep at all. Also, it is not very close to anything so even to get dinner, it was a 10 minute drive minimum.

We moved in Arcola just for a weekend nightout and it was a very nice double room. It looked pretty especially the mosaic style in the bathroom. We unfortunately be affected by a lack of water for a limit time period due to an idraulic accident in Arcola. It did not caused by the hotel staff but it even changed our programme. I absolutely suggest this hotel for an holiday in Lerici. It's so near the centre and also the lerici's beaches.

For us location is everything. We were only five minutes from the big parking space between Lerici and San Terenzo, and after a long day at the market and the lively beach, we enjoyed the calm and serenity of this small hill town called Cerri. Ten minutes away we found great shopping and delicious restaurants in the beautiful ancient city of Sarzana. From Lerici we took the wonderful boat trip to Portovenere and the Cinque Terre. Simply breathtaking!
The new decor of the Albergo Serena wasn't really to our liking, but the view was great, and it really was the perfect base for exploring the most amazing part of the riviera.
