JET 2
We are a family of 3, 2 adults and a 10 year old boy. We have booked every time through jet 2 package holidays and I have to say it has been an excellent service every time. Simple process for checking in, planes and flights have always been clean and comfortable and the staff at the airport and on the flight are always very friendly and helpful. This has also applied on arrival at Antalya, where the jet 2 staff are very approachable and helpful and the transfer process has always been quick and comfortable.
TRANSFER
The hotel is only a 20 minute transfer from the airport and we are the first drop off, along a long strip of hotels. On approach the hotel is classy and beautiful, and this can be mistaken for understated, compared to the louder and more flashy hotels along the strip, however this is certainly not the case, which you will quickly establish once you arrive in reception!
ARRIVAL
As most the flights are later into the night from the uk we have always arrived on our own, so have missed out on a welcome drink, but that is only a minor negative!
Part of the main restaurant is open into the early hours of the morning, should you need something to eat on arrival. Your luggage is taken to your room for you as well.
ROOMS
We have stayed in the lagoon area twice, this was in July, and the last time we stayed in the main building. For me I loved our first room in the lagoon area, which was on the 2nd floor. We were overlooking the gorgeous pool bar, which looks lovely lit up at night, and had a lovely large bedroom with a double sink and walk in shower! We hoped for this again the second time we went but we were in a smaller room that time, and it wasn’t quite as spacious, but was still lovely. We did have an issue with the air conditioning not working but this was immediately rectified by reception and we were allocated another room.
The main building was also fantastic and the room again was lovely and we had wonderful views of the sea and beach. We had our nephew with us on that occasion as well, and they had to share a double sofa bed, but they were comfortable enough!
As we were on a higher floor we had to get the lift up and down from our room, which sometimes could be abit awkward especially if you had floats, but overall we didn’t mind it and it was always quick and we didn’t have to wait too long for it, you just had to time it right sometimes!
All the rooms come with a stocked mini fridge with snacks and drinks that are restocked throughout your stay and you can also request fresh milk or any extras on the WhatsApp assistant, which make things so much easier. There are a choice of pillows, if the ones in your room aren’t too your liking and again you can just request this on the what’s app. You have a Nespresso machine and 4 pods, and these are also restocked daily. There are dressing gowns/slippers and a lovely beach bag to keep as well!
There is also shower gel and body lotions and an exfoliating mitt/flannels provided.
There is a large tv on the wall that you can cast onto apparently but we couldn’t figure that out so we just had the music channels on a lot of the time whilst getting ready for the evening.
There is a hairdryer and hair irons which are a great addition, however if you are used to ghds I would recommend still taking those.
The air conditioning in the lagoon area was good, it was over 40 degrees in July, but our room was always cool and comfortable.
When we stayed in the main building the air conditioning didn’t seem quite as powerful, but this was in October time, so was not as warm overall, so was still adequate.
The main bed is large and comfortable but the sofa bed for our son was abit squashed, as he is quite tall, but I guess we are getting to that point now where a family room may be needed.
The main building rooms were very quiet and there were no slamming doors like in the lagoon area, but this is more people at fault than the hotel!
POOLS - LAGOON AREA
We loved the relaxing vibe of the lagoon area and we spent most of our time here the first time two times we stayed. The loungers are super comfortable and there are always freshly stocked towels available throughout the day. There was the usual reserving of beds, but it was nowhere near as bad as other hotels we have been too. The lagoon pool was lovely to swim in and was never crowded but the floor could get super hot so sliders are a must for adults and kids.
The pool bar here is fantastic and all the staff serving are friendly and helpful.
Our favourite restaurant Turunc, is also in this area and the food here is just amazing. The sea bass and tacos are highly recommended, but every meal here was delicious. The staff are wonderful and get to know what drinks and food you like so towards the end of our stay we didn’t even have to ask. We loved having lunch here but all you need to be mindful of is, as it is outside, there is no air con so can be very warm in peak season.
When we stayed in October we decided to sit by the main pool. It was very cold, and mostly empty because of this, but once you were in it was fine. There was a heated section which did get abit crowded. The lagoon pool was empty at this time of year as it was freezing! The loungers aren’t as comfy here as by the lagoon but there were plenty availble throughout the day.
There was much more going on around this pool for the boys and you got to hear about the daily activities, as sometimes you missed this jn the lagoon area.
The rollerblading staff around this pool are fantastic and work so hard. You can order on the qr code or again they would get to know you and remember your drinks, which was lovely.
KIDS
Our son is 10 so I cannot comment on the actual children’s club but all the entertainment staff are lovely and the kids love them! He is in that in between age though where he couldn’t do a lot of the activities as he was either too old or too young, he loved the volleyball at the beach in the afternoon but wasn’t allowed to play it on our last visit (he was gutted!).
The slides are great fun and he would go on these all day if he could!
For younger children there is a lovely shaded pool area as well, with little slides.
RESTAURANTS
This hotel only charges extra for one restaurant , the secret grill, and we have never gone to this one, as just didnt feel the need with how fantastic the food is everywhere else.
We did find it difficult to book the restaurants though, as most of the places are gone just after 9am, which was abit irritating. We did contact the what’s app assistant though a few times and they did find us space when we were struggling, this was mainly with Akendiz, as this is very popular. The service and food here though is excellent, so if you get chance to book this one it’s one of the best.
If the only place to eat was the main restaurant then this would be fine because the quality and choice is fantastic. This is one of the main reasons we are returning as we have not been to a hotel where the food and service is this good. We are foodies and like to go out to nice restaurants in the uk so it is an important part of our holiday!
The coffee car is also amazing, they do a speciality coffee and will do pretty much anything you ask for. The choice of cakes and deserts is also awesome and we loved to sit here late afternoon for coffee and cake after a day in the sun.
BARS/ENTERTAINMENT
We would head to the lobby bar after dinner for a cocktail and listen to the pianist which was such a lovely atmosphere and some nights there were also singers, who were also excellent. This is a lovely area to sit and chill and the drinks are fantastic with alot of top brands on offer and all the drinks come with little nibbles, crisps/nuts.
The evening entertainment begins at 9.30 in the amphitheater. Now I do have a little moan here as for some reason they swapped the actual fixed seats here for, well basically brick walls to sit on! Now I’m sure it was done so more people can sit down, however it is not comfortable at all and was putting a lot of people off going to the shows; which is a real shame as the entertainment was brilliant every night.
Also I found the exclusive area at the top abit pompous. This was exclusively for people who were staying in the villas and most nights the seats were empty, so a complete waste of comfortable seating! Moan over 😄.
The entertainment would then continue at the beach bar with a dj and dance music galore. Yes it’s loud but we loved it and is great fun if you like that sort of thing. The drinks here though can be hit and miss, but there are loads of cocktails to choose from and mocktails for the kids.
There is also a small area with a PlayStation and other games for the children such as table tennis and basket ball arcade type game which is good fun.
Certain nights they also do garden parties and events. In October they did a Halloween party and all I will say is ‘WOW’ the boys absolutely loved it, the effort that went into this was amazing, it was a great night!
A major plus of this hotel is that it is ALL INCLUSIVE. There is nothing worse than being hit with hidden extras, when you are already paying a premium, and looking at a lot of the other hotels in the area this was the case.
I have gone on but we have never returned to a hotel 4 times, we looked and looked this year but nothing compares! Book it you won’t regret it. 😊
Firstly, the hotel was accredited to the “ Safe Tourism Program” and on arrival we found it to be the only hotel in this part of Antalya that had achieved this certificate and was open for business. but at what a cost 50% of the rooms were closed and all social distancing messages and cleaning were on executed on a high level across everything from restaurants, bars , beach etc. Not once did we find any member of staff without a face mask and they were working 12 hour shifts in 34c ! An amazing team
Now about the hotel, itself, on arrival our suitcases were disinfected and we were shown to an upgraded room with a full and beautiful sea view
We were told even with reduced rooms there we’re only 85 guests in this week from a normal 1000😞 Everything in the room was super clean and nice small touches.
The grounds outside are wonderful. beautifully manicured lawns tree with extensively planted borders which each day you walked through (400m) to the beach area .
A tip here is to find a sun bed on the pier, rather than the beach and enjoy the cooling breeze .
The bars were all still operating deputes lack of people, but the restaurants alternated each evening and you were informed via the customer services team each morning and asked where you would like to reserve, all very efficient
All the food was first class at each venue and the service was exceptional
My partner had her birthday whilst we were there and our table was especially decorated with flowers and at the end a surprise chocolate cake 😋
In summary an excellent week away, my only question would be to ask if they are able to keep up such high standards when they are back to full capacity, but for us I was a perfect stay
The location is ideal as it's no more than 15mins from the airport and a short walk (15 min) to the local shops for clothes etc. Plenty of green space makes the place pleasant on the eye and the private beach at the end of the complex really is the icing on the cake.
I've never stayed at a hotel with so many amenities and internal restaurants at my disposal (even if a lot were closed due to low guest numbers during the Coronavirus pandemic). The food was delicious, the drink flowed in crystal glasses and the place was spotless. We really can't fault the Lara Barut Hotel.
Despite the Coronavirus cloud that the hotel was operating under, EVERY single member of staff carried on with business as usual. Smart, smiling and helpful.
Once this worldwide drama has settled down, we will return to take full advantage of what this wonderful hotel has to offer.
The hotel and grounds are well spaced so you have plenty of room to move around.
Everywhere was very clean and tidy and well maintained.
I would say that the hotel is very Covid 19 aware and controlled. All staff wear face masks and there is hand sanitiser everywhere and plenty of signage to remind you of distancing. We felt safe which was the main thing.
All of the staff were very professional and friendly.
All restaurants served fantastic food and we were never disappointed with the wide selections and quality.
We ate in the main Restuarant the most, breakfast, lunch and dinner where we were waited upon by Ali who was very attentive to us and all guests. He always ensured we got seated easily, provided humour as well as our drinks and anything we needed.
We also took a cabana on the beach for €80 but it was worth it, making the day sunbathing very special. All food and drink is brought to you by the waiters.
There are several well stocked bars in various locations so you could have quiet or lively. Tip: ask for the brand of drink if you don’t want local.
Entertainment was very good with a mix of bands and dance acts.
We would definitely return. Highly recommended.
We ate mostly in the Turunc a la carte restaurant which is all day dining and the food there was first class there is no need to book excellent food and drink staff was very attentive.
We also ate in sandals for afternoon lunch which was very good menu no buffet so it’s good to pick your food and again staff was very good .
The main restaurants is buffet style breakfast lunch and dinner and again good food with an excellent choice .
The pool and bar areas are well looked after by the staff and it’s all good, Miller becks efes in the beer department and all premium spirits .
My only complaint about my time there was trying to book the a la carte restaurants which the hotel want you to book via app on phone between 9 - 2 and good luck to you trying to get booked in if your not on ready at bang on 9 you won’t get a table they let you book 2 days in advance and what happens if your like a bit of a lie in on holiday so was a bit disappointed about that part of the holiday .
Our room was cleaned every day and you can download hotel app and request items like different types of pillows more towels or an ironing board and iron and delivered to your room mini bar is topped up every day .
We stayed in the residential area, not the main building, and it was very quiet and clean, separate toilet and amazing rainfall shower in the room! Rooms aren’t huge but we didn’t spend much time in ours and it was fully functional so no issue for us.
Pool area was impressive, clean, not too busy and no need to be up at crack of dawn to get sun loungers which was a bonus, although we are early risers we were always able to get the beds of choice! Towels are all available with no need for towel cards, wrapped up to ensure all hygienic! Lots of people cleaning and spraying beds and tables around the pool which added to feeling of safety!
Breakfast in Buffett was great, lots of choice and many staff available to serve you, avoiding the need to self serve, touch utensils. Umit was a particularly happy Guy and always made this is nice experience!
We enjoyed many a glass of fizz And Bottles of Becks at the Meltem bar around lunchtime and Muneuver was our favourite of all the staff, regularly getting us a refill, teaching us some Turkish and looking after us brilliantly, a real sweet and helpful girl!! A great selection of drinks available at the bars and unlike Some All Inclusive Hotels we’ve stayed, the wine was also good too!
Sandals was our favourite spot for lunch with Al A Carte choices a plenty, from salads, fish, burgers and traditional Turkish pittas which were all fantastic!
Gorillas was equally good for if you fancied a burger or pizza fast food! Ice creams and lollies all branded!
We enjoyed all restaurants we visited, our favourite being Garden BBQ due to a great setting! Setting at Pizza wasn’t great but food was fantastic!!
Beach was all clean, and waves in the sea were brilliant, albeit it felt very safe - the sea was even quite warm!!
Beach bar was nice for a chilled vibe and we enjoyed a drink at sunset on the swim, only feedback was that cocktails weren’t great, or not as good as we’ve had before.
Guest relations at points were pretty frosty, this was mainly due to many complaints about the restaurant booking app, this didn’t work for us at all during our stay, so I had to visit reception daily to book for next day meal, this needs work as wasn’t ideal! Staff showed their own frustrations which could be motives.
Coffee bar looked lovely, albeit we didn’t visit, Spa was great, we enjoyed a Turkish Scrub and massage!
Having had our wedding and Honeymoon cancelled in September, this hotel has made such a mark we are on our way back at end of September and we can’t wait!!
All in all definitely one to recommend and worth a try!!
All in all
I have provided a detailed experience for anyone who has concerns on travelling in COVID times.
Airport on arrival was hassel free temp checks at control. Private transfer was 15 mins straight to hotel. Temp checks taken on arrival check in was a breeze and a free upgrade on arrival.
Staff were warm and friendly given us advice around the resort and the extra measures they had put in place. Once you have had your temp checked you do not need to wear masks around the resort as the staff wear these continually to protect the guests.
From staying at Hotels around the world, this hotel is the one of the cleaniest I have stayed in.
The Junior suite was lovely and big cleaned to a high standard every day.
The Staff are absolutley amazing and are so friendly and accommodating, Special Mention to Ali and Salim who went above and beyond for us throughout our stay
Im not one for Hotel Entertainment, Lara you rocked the Shows and the concert!
The food is outstanding however my only grumble is having to book a la carte 2 days in advance so when you get there you cant reserve until your 3rd day (reason for my 4 star) our favourite was the BBQ
However the buffet resturant food is first class, with plenty of selection and variety.
Drinks are branded and local and there is no limit on choice
Plenty of room around the swimming pools and beds are well cleaned and rubbish disposed of.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday Lara Barut we will be returning very soon
Food was great. There are different restaurants you can book but we preferred the main buffet as the variety of food on offer was terrific. All food is covered and there is a person in each section to put what you would like to try on your plate so you don’t touch anything.
The hotel is like a village and you don’t have to leave the grounds if you don’t want to, everything you need is there. The majority of staff speaks English or Russian. We loved one of our waiters (we liked everyone of course but especially him). He was sometimes serving in the adults only section at the main restaurant. He remembered our drinks and a pot of tea was waiting for us the next day even before we asked. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help.
If you like animals you’ll appreciate the Cat house and don’t forget to donate some change so they can continue to look after them.
We will come back. Thank you!
The hotel itself fantastic, the grounds and beach are beautiful and the staff throughout all work very hard and go out of their way to ensure you are enjoying your stay.
One of the main reasons for our return was the Bary Star Kids club. We have a 6 year old and as soon as we arrived he wanted to be back in there!
The staff are all amazing with the children and ensure everyday is fun with children taking part in a variety of activities, crafts and games where they can win medals. There are also organised outings out of the hotel including Zoo trips and Horse Riding.
Obviously this year is a little different with the ongoing pandemic. You have to book your place for your child the day before as they have to work with limited numbers now. All children, parents and staff have their temperature checked each time they enter the club and hand sanitiser is always used. All staff wear face masks throughout the day (this is the same for every member of staff throughout the hotel, I did not see a single member of staff without their mask on no matter what job they were doing). There is a break for two hours each day at lunch time when the club is closed for lunch and to be cleaned – none of these changes are negative, in my eyes they add to the reassurance that is needed at the minute.
In the evenings children can go into the club to watch films/cartoons or just play on the playground.
Thank you to all the staff at Bary Star – Sultan, Ebru, Sevval and Gozde yet again. We look forward to returning again!
The staff are all polite and courteous, they always had a smile on their faces , the entertainment team were very good and my husband liked a game of darts , a special shout out for Martin who was extremely friendly and sociable with the holiday makers .
Our room was a superior room with a pool view , it was lovely, the bed was so comfortable, it was cleaned everyday bed linen and towels changed daily, and OMG the creations made from towels by the maids made us chuckle.
The food was truly tremendous, we especially enjoyed the Turunc ale carte restaurant, waited on , beer and wine being topped up constantly.
The sandals beach bar on the beach was extremely enjoyable for a spot of lunch, so much to choose from , pizza ,pasta, wraps, burgers etc
We really enjoyed the DJ sunset set on a late afternoon at the beach bar , some of the acts were world class , we especially enjoyed the golden girls - electric violin and singer double act, absolutely first class.
The night time shows are also brilliant, the butterfly DJ show in the garden got the party started.
Lastly the variety of drinks was outstanding, all premium spirits available served in proper crystal glasses , they even had Southern Comfort which I like, which has never been available at any of the other AI hotels .
Finally the courtesy room was excellent and had all facilities for you to use on your final day
Thanks Barut Lara, we hope to see you again xxx
