This was our first visit to Mexico. Morelia was first of the historical cities we have visited. What a marvellous surprise all around. We could not believe we were still in North America. Casona Rosa is everything the other travellers say. It was a pleasure to meet Jennifer and share her enthusiasm for the country. Vivi was very helpful and...

What a great little oasis in the heart of Morelia. The service was exceptional at Casona Rosa located a few blocks from the cathedral and plaza de armas. My room was quiet, included a sitting room, extremely clean and reasonably priced. Breakfast was pretty much ready when I went by the dining area, and included tropical fruit and eggs any...

Thank you so much for your kind remarks about Casona Rosa and our staff. They truly love what they do...and it shows! Yes, Morelia has changed a lot in the last decade...but still it keeps its old world charm... and creates the mood of one being both ancient and eternal. Come again...do not stay away so long. I stayed at Casona Rosa 2 years in a row when I went to see the Monarch Butterfly Migration. The staff is warm, helpful and accommodating. They helped us each year to arrange for a driver to take us to see the butterflies, about 3 hours away from Morelia. Both times our guides were punctual, friendly and well informed. It...

We were in Morelia very briefly and wanted to stay at Casona Rosa; however, our plans were last minute so we weren't able to book a room because the place was full (of course, it's so great there's a high demand for it). But we did want to pay this place a little visit since it had been 3 years...

Bads. For what we payed, the breakfast was too poor. Old house with mexican deco. Very cozy and comfy with a good location. We really enjoyed our time there! Morelia is a beautiful city and a must for foreigners and locals. 😊

A veritable folk-art museum of arts and crafts from Michoacan, super-friendly helpful staff, wonderful breakfast as you like it cooked to order. charming unique suites, all different. Nicest linens i've experienced in a Mexican hotel ---and a great mattress...and lots of little extras ( like post-its) and scissors and shopping bags if you need......Very quiet, too..... a hop skip and...

The room was decorated with unusual paintings on the wall and lots of Mexican folk Art. Comfy bed with wonderful sheets as only Cason Rosa knows how to do. Lots of towels! Wonderful patio full of plants and more ceramic folk art. Comfy place to come home to to make a cup of tea, have a beer and relax in...

Casona Rosa has a great network of people both inside the hotel and in the Michoacán community. We had great tours arranged by them. This is a small B&B, so expect a quirky environment with character, rather than a chain hotel.

Arrived early at 12:00, rooms were ready (Frida & Colonial). Frida on the second floor has two bedrooms, the Colonial on the main floor one bedroom and a sitting room with a convertible sofa bed. Both rooms have showers only. The common area and rooms are uniquely decorated with an eclectic sampling of Mexican artifacts. Gracious, friendly staff, nice comfortable...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guests have said~while staying at Casona Rosa they have the feeling they're in a private hide-out of Frida Kahlo. Casona Rosa is an inn just two blocks from the main street and Morelia's famous pink cathedral. It is a romantic, intimate place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are five suites each with private bathroom, access to a large, fully-equipped kitchen, several sitting areas and a formal dining room. The suites are situated around an outdoor patio area for relaxing. Much attention was paid to decorating each suite with locally made handcrafts. Check out our Facebook page (La Casona Rosa Morelia) for updates on the latest Casona happenings...Enjoy and "Viva la vida!" ... more   less
