What a great place to stay. Yes it is not in downtown but that makes it so nice. It is a island of calm. Very unique. Lots of art work almost like a museum. An old hacienda building that survived the test of time

There is a courtyard with a grassy area and some artwork and there is a picnic table where you could sit outside and read. There is also an outdoor patio with some tables and chairs next to the breakfast area where you could sit. There is a lot of open space so I think you could probably find a spot to enjoy the nice weather. Also if you walk out of the hotel parking lot and turn left, it is a very short walk to the main campus for UCR and there are lots of grassy areas, benches, etc. to enjoy on campus. To find out about the cancellation policy, I would advise that you email the hotel directly. They were prompt in replying to my questions prior to our trip.
