This is a beautiful hostel where you can feel at home with a family atmosphere in the common areas and a high standard of cleanliness. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking. Looking forward to comeback!
Shirani is very welcoming and always there when you have a question. My friends and I were exchange students in San José and he always gave us advices or recomodations about Costa Rican places. I’ve spent 7 months there and I never had any problem. Also, the Kibi Kibi house is very clean and calm, you can enjoy the very cute garden for taning or reading. I recomend the Kibi Kibi house !!
I lived in Casa Kibi Kibi for one wonderful year. I had two different rooms while I lived there and both were fantastic. I shared the living room, kitchens, and bathroom with the other guests. I especially loved that every thursday Erica would clean my room and change my sheets, it would always smell amazing afterwards. There are laundry facilities there but it's expensive so many people went to the lavanderia. Shirani is a great guy and so helpful. Its literally across the street from a supermarket, around the corner from the bus stop, and very close to some bars and an even bigger super market. If my family ever visits I will demand they stay here.
Friendly and helpful owner. Fun and happy guests. Community spirit in small guesthouse. Awesome courtyard. Private bathrooms. Amazing location. There was even yoga every Tuesday and thursday! What more could you want in the budget range ? Nothing! Absolutely loved it and will be staying there again
I stayed for 3 months in Casa Kibi Kibi (research internship at the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales) and really enjoyed it! Had room no. 7 which had a private bathroom and faced the beautiful garden in the center of Casa Kibi Kibi. A colibri came almost every morning which was very nice. So sitting at my table in my room, working for the internship, I had a great view :-D I found Casa Kibi Kibi to be ideal for my purposes as it is close to the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales (UCR), close to the supermarket and ATM (both across the street) and 5 min. by foot (or even less) to the laundry service. Moreover, I really felt safe in Casa Kibi Kibi which was very important to me as a woman traveling on my own. Arriving late on Saturday night; I was glad that the supermarkets are also opened on Sundays. So I could just cross the street on the following day to buy everthing I need. The kitchen and living room is shared by all the residents. When I was there, a lot of people stayed there for several months. Only few stayed for one or a couple of nights. If all the rooms are occupied and depending on the "favorite mealtimes" it can get crowded in the kitchen and you might have to wait for pots and pans and the like. But if you get along well with the other residents - which I did - it's not a big problem. I liked getting to know a lot of interesting people. There also is a bus station closeby if you want to go downtown, to UCR or some place else. All the buses headed for the rest of the country depart from downtown San José so you don't necessarily need to rent a car. You can also order a taxi right to Casa Kibi Kibi. In any case, ask Shirani, the owner. He likes to help. I will definitely choose Casa Kibi Kibi again next time I travel to Costa Rica!…
