Well base on my experience at this hotel I have to say that it was nice ! the food and drinks okay, the room was spacious, comfortable bed , nice view , I love the pool with a very nice sea view , the staff was very nice with us , The only thing I didn’t like is when the show ends you have nothing else to do because everything closes at 12:00am and also they only play Mexican music. But for sure I’ll definitely come back to this place ! I’m happy that I didn’t focus on the negative reviews and choose this hotel .

I was a little nervous after reading mixed reviews on this specific hotel/ resort. I went in with an open mind and found it to actually be better than most negative reviews I read. The room was nice and updated, the AC worked well and the partial ocean view was gorgeous. The food was not horrible, it was just okay but you do have many options which is always nice. The alcohol they serve is whatever their generic brand is. Don’t expect a cocktail perfectly handcrafted and made with love. There’s literally crowds of people at the bar ordering 3+ drinks and the bartenders don’t got time for that. The only beer option they have on the entire resort is Dos Equis. They don’t have any other beer options. The room “mini bar” is a few cans of Dos Equis and a bunch of soda and water. Our stay was great until checkout day came. Once it’s time for you to check out and leave the resort, the staff treats you poorly and just want you to get the eff off the premises. We were given the runaround the night prior regarding late check out WHICH THEY STATE THEY OFFER BUT DONT. At least that’s what we were told by many staff after we were informed we’d be able to check out late as long as we spoke to the supervisor the following morning. We were told we couldn’t have a late check out and needed to leave. We stayed in villa 7 which is the furthest villa from the entrance of the resort. We requested a bellman to help with hauling our luggage and were told we couldn’t be helped and needed to do it on our own. It’s so unbelievable how their customer service changed from the day we checked in versus the day we needed to check out. We also had to haul all of our luggage offsite because they would not allow my family member to pick us up inside of the resort. They gave us such a hard time about every single thing on our last day. They have security waiting at the drop off/ pick up area literally stalking you for a piece of paper you have to provide before leaving the resort. Everyone was extremely rude. For that reason we will not be returning. As mentioned, before our last day everything was fine. But the way we were treated on our last day was unacceptable and disappointing. I do want to give a shout-out to Emiliano at the front desk for his outstanding customer service. If more people had his attitude and customer service skills, you might have higher ratings. We will take our money where it’s appreciated.

Day one and facing the same issue as another reviewer described . Calling about my current reservation made with hotels.com that is already paid and then being asked to pay another US$400. 1800 number says it is fixed. Front desk says it is not and won’t update without additional money. Overall, think this is just a way to frustrate you into paying so you don’t ruin your vacation. Also, sink is clogged and half the building lacks water in the shower .... The non-front desk staff are pleasant and more customer oriented .. Beware.

Where to start? The vacation and everything at this hotel is subpar, including the staff. When we first arrived to the hotel and tried to check in, the hotel confiscated my passport and held it hostage for 3 days. They did this because they said our reservation within their system was not up to date, although we had proof in a confirmation email that it was updated, yet they refused to accept that. When I refused to let them keep my passport, they decided that I was going to have to pay an additional $950.00, on top of what was already paid, since the reservation "wasn't up to date" in their eyes. I refused that as well, so they held my passport hostage for the next 3 days. Come Monday, I went to get my passport back and miraculousply everything was resolved and I went about my day. On Tuesday, we left the resort to go on an excursion. When we returned, our room keys had been deactivated, and they refused to reactivate them until I paid $379. When asking where this fee came from, they said that cheap carribean contacted them saying that amount was still owed. However, the day before when igot my passport back, they told us everything was resolved. They locked us out of our room, our ID/passports, money, clothes and belongings. Again, refused to let me into my room, then had security follow us around while we tried to resolve this 2 hour long issue. I had no option but to pay the $379. Today I contacted cheap Caribbean asking about the fee, and they told me that there was only a $0.03 difference, which they told the hotel and covered. Needless to say, this hotel is a scam and will make up fees for their own benefit, confiscate your passport, and lock you out of your room. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND DO NOT STAY HERE. the food is terrible, the alcohol is bottom shelf, and the air conditioners don't work. The management staff is so rude, unprofessional and unwilling to help.

Riu never disappoints! The resort was super fun and I went solo and had a great time staying mostly on the property for five days enjoying all the amenities even with covid. I would just suggest more staff to help answer customers questions and perhaps more fresh food, and the pipes broke which stopped the water for a bit. But other than that beautiful property and such nice staff and amazing views everywhere!
