Stayed here for 2 nights. Got to our room and it was so huge and luxurious we thought we had been upgraded but turns out it was just a standard room (room 35) the main hotel has rooms, plus cottages. We were in the new conversion opposite the inn. They also have dog friendly rooms. Dogs allowed in the bar,...

Stopped for lunch here as we had eaten here before and found it to be quite disappointing. The bar smelt of dogs and although we are dog lovers this was a bit over the top as there were 5 dogs in the bar. Food was served quite quickly but was a bit tasteless, the squid was described as fresh but...

My wife and I booked 4 nights at this Pub with accommodation through Secret Escapes. It was described as 4 star which is credible if you were describing the food in the restaurant. The Mason Arms does not have any lounge or communal areas so is not a hotel, just the pub with a smallish restaurant. Most rooms are separate...

We stayed for one night over the May bank holiday and were really pleased with the whole experience. Check in was smooth and the staff were helpful. Our room was a really good size and the en suite was large with a great bath. The pub itself is so pretty with lots of charm. We didn't eat dinner there as...

What a perfect setting for a sunny lunch after walking the coastal path from Beer. The choice of beers was excellent with Tribute being my favourite. The local crab for lunch was so fresh and well presented.

We have just returned after spending 3 nights at The Masons Arms. What a delight it was. The beds were extremely comfortable, rooms spotlessly clean and welcoming. More importantly the staff were so friendly and helpful. I am not very able bodied so I booked a room suitable for disabled. Number 36 was an extremely well appointed, modern, spacious room....

Very disappointed to be told by barman at 2.25pm that the only lunch they had available was crisps or peanuts! We sat and had a drink and crisps but were dismayed to see that people were still being brought their main courses and that customer's orders for desserts were still being taken right under our noses Fair enough the chef...

Visited this pub after someone recommended. Pretty village and very nice and welcoming pub. Only had a light lunch but we enjoyed it and it was very nicely presented. Other food that came to other tables looked delicious. Welcoming staff and nice ambience ! Busy and it was a Tuesday out of season.

Enjoyed a three night stay last week, lovely welcoming staff, warming log fire, good food, clean, comfortable room, just what we needed. Would recommend to anyone wanting to unwind! Only thing to watch is if you find too many steps a problem, if so stay in room by car park.

Spent lovely Christmas break at the Mason. We booked the package early in the summer so received a nice discount and got the pick of the rooms. It was fabulous ... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
