First my typical intro; ratings are a very relative thing and it's important to know what you expect and how one arrives at ratings. My ratings are "value based" and not based on an ultimate scale of luxury down to bare bones. We have stayed...More
This hotel is older and very basic, but the service and views are to die for. We were only going to stay 2 nights and decided to stay a 3rd. Love the beach!!! San Carlos is very small (still) so everything you need is close...More

Sad history with present 'manager' . Empty Basic rooms, old beds and non existing service. Old, cold tile floors, no televisions, or Wifi except in bar. Iffy food. There are so many better choices in town.

I agree that back in 2012 through 2014 this hotel was run down, had poor management and poor restaurant/bar. And yes, they did allow pets back then, not now. In 2015 new management refurbished the rooms, steam cleaned the kitchen and brought in an excellent and experienced chef. There are even some rooms with TV now, though WiFi is still only in the lobby and still not in the restaurant/bar, but with that beach view, who needs it?
