Detailed Reviews
We are a family of 3 just home from Giltraps. We had booked for before Easter and for obvious reasons this was cancelled. Eleanor was great via email rebooking is for the first two nights of the National travel restrictions being lifted. She was even better in person, as previous reviews mentioned, she couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. The log cabins are very comfortable and the breakfast hamper filling and delicious. It is only a very short walk to the toilet facility which are all very clean and modern. Each cubicle has a toilet, sink and shower so very private. Not much open post lockdown in the town but we had a lovely day cycling through and exploring Lough Boora which is only a short drive away, we hired bikes in Lough Boora. Eleanor also had some bikes to rent onsite but none for our 6 year old. We will bring our own the next time and hopefully we will be back. Best of luck with the coming season Giltraps.

We cannot say enough good things about Giltraps Townhouse & Glamping. From booking to departing Eleanor could not do enough for us. A group of 7 school friends and we had a blast. The cabins are fabulous and comfortable with spotless modern toilets and shower facilities on site and the grounds are so well maintained. Breakfast delivered to your room the next morning was delish. The fabulous service continued over at the pub where we had pizza, goujons, chips and prob one too many drinks :) This is an ideal location and venue for any occasion, hen/stag party, birthday party, family/friends get together etc. We cannot wait to get back and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun break away. Thank you Eleanor and all the team for our very enjoyable and memorable stay x We will definitely be back again.

Such a lovely place to stay, very clean and cosy. We stayed in a double log cabin on a groupon deal which included pizza and a pint in the pub across the road, the pizza was lovely and so were the drinks and locals! The staff were wonderful, really friendly and approchable. We availed of the breakfast hamper the next morning and were delighted we did! Would definately recommend.

Stayed at giltraps "townhouse " not what's described on website. At €99 a night plus €9 per person for a breakfast bap consisting of 1 rasher 1 sausage and 1 egg and a croissant was very poor value for money. Room 5 had creaking floor boards ,musty smelling carpet and an old wardrobe with 2 hangers. If this is the standard of room throughout the "townhouse " which is in reality a double terraced house converted I would suggest a major upgrade or convert to backpacking hostel. There is street parking only which is free as mentioned on their very creative website. The giltraps pub menu consists of pizzas and chicken gougons and chips. Having said all that the glamping facility looked really well presented and has an excellent reputation so maybe they have lost focus on "townhouse ".
Moved to County house hotel Birr for €118 a night which was €1 dearer than "townhouse " 4 star accommodation compared to very poor hostel accommodation.

We organised a surprise 50th birthday party for my husband here; bringing family from the north and the south together. 24 of us stayed in the Glamping site &/or townhouse and Eleanor helped us organise a BBQ in Giltraps pub for the Saturday night where we were joined by more family in total we had 30 adults and 10 children. The food was excellent - many raved about the sausages (which were their own) , they ordered a cake from the local bakers which was perfect and the live music in the bar fantastic and catered for the range of ages/taste in music.
The accommodation was clean as were the amenities. The site felt safe and secure which was a big bonus; so the smaller kids could roam between the cabins. Likewise the village itself was welcoming and felt safe.
The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff put everyone at ease .
Everyone has been commending me at what a great weekend it was, when really the praise should go to Eleanor who had everything arranged.
Massive hats off to the team there. Would highly recommend this venue.

As a family of four we stayed two nights in a glamping wood cabin. Spotlessly clean, the cabins are basic with beds, a heater and lighting but you wouldn't expect more for what's supposed to be a camping experience. For an additional fee we ordered breakfast to the cabin which is a nice luxury. One of the main benefits of the glamping site is one-minute walk to Giltraps Pub across the road where they serve good pizza and excellent Guinness! We found staff in glamping site very friendly and obliging and overall it's a great place to stay and explore the wider area.

Was looking this place up again as I'm mad to return and can't believe I didn't review first time round. In summary we loved every single thing about our stay, me and my husband stayed in one of the cabins, had everything we needed was comfortable clean and warm. Sheep, pigs and chickens on the grounds added to the glamping experience, amazing breakfast hamper each morning with their own produce..eggs were unreal. Had drinks in the village pub , visited slieve bloom and birr gardens. All in all such a good time and hope to get back next summer.

Organised a hen party here for my sister in law. One of best hen party experiences i have been on
From an organising perspective it was very straight forward and eleanor does a great hen party package which took a lot of the stress out of it for me.
Accomadation was super- very cool, something different and very clean and comfortable.
Food was 10/10 tasty breakfast baos and pastries were dropped to your rooms both mornings and it was lovely to be able to have breakfast in bed or sit outside if weather allows. Pizzas and BBQ we had on night 1 and 2 of hen were so so tasty. Perfect type of food for groups but of a very high quality.
Eleanor organised for the cube to come for our activity and it really was an activity that everyone could get involved in and helped the group to mingle and get to know each other.
The Townhouse itself deserves a mention it was an ideal meeting spot for people for some pre drinks and bridal games. There is a beautiful new kitchen available which is fully kitted out. Smart TV also available in the dinning room area, really was ideal for a hen gathering. Staff of Townhouse and pub so helpful and friendly. No request was ever a problem for example if we rang across to the pub for ice they would have it dropped over to the Townhouse in record time.
The Giltraps Pub is literally a 2min walk across the road so worked well, no need for taxis or buses. Karaoke was available and live music was played on 2nd night. The Pub is beautiful with great character and there is a little room off to the side which again worked well for the hen party and keeping everyone together.
Only 2 little pointers for improvement black bags and ice bucket in the Townhouse might be a good shout.
Overall the best experience, would highly recommend for a hen party!! Cant wait to come back again.

Our group went glamping and we had a wonderful time! Super location in the centre of Kinnitty village and great selection of walking and cycling trails. All the staff were pleasant and looked after us very well throughout our stay. The facilities are excellent, newly developed showering and toilet facilities. Our cabin was spacious and very comfortable to sleep in and we were all given towels and bedding, we didn’t need to pack anything extra which was great peace of mind when planning our trip away. I would highly recommend their BBQ as the food was delicious! There was a wide variety of food and ensuring everyone was well looked after. Eleanor and John demonstrates excellent customer service and are very attentive in their roles and it was a pleasure staying in Giltraps- I would highly recommend their business to anyone that wants to experience the highest quality of glamping, have a drink in great surroundings or enjoying a delicious BBQ catching up with friends or celebrate any occasion at Giltraps. A wonderful asset to Kinnitty and I wish the Clendennens all the best in the future with their excellent business! Thank you for having us and looking after us all so well. Best wishes, Bláithín Tynan

we visited here recently and it was fab! We were able to eat at the pub across the way (which was an absolute delight) and we went to kinnity castle during the day and it was a lovely walk and it has a lovely cafe. We were able to stay in the outdoor cabins which were great, just enough space and was lovely and warm at night. Amazing breakfast in the morning see pixture attached! Also the lady who showed us to our cabin was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

Approx 30 Meters from the cabins there are shower and toilet facilities.
Hi sinead, they are about 20m from cabins.
Giltraps can not cater for pets however, they do offer the option of a doggy hotel near the area that will look after your pet during your stay..!!!
Hi, just after having a birthday party there last weekend, there's 1 yurt and 6 log cabins, we booked 2 cabins: one double, one triple, can't say about the rest of them. Not sure about last orders, but enjoy your time there!!
hello John, Thank you kindly for the response. This will be my 11th trip. Drop ins would be a guest with no reservation. We are not sure of the night or nights yet. The other thing is that we require private bathroom.
