We had an amazing stay at Ardmore Country House. It's a beautiful period house and Chris has done a great job restoring it. After a day hiking the Slieve Blooms we had a great night out in the pub which is just 2 mins walk away. We had a delicious home cooked breakfast the next morning with a gluten free option. I will definitely be back to try out some mountain biking or road cycling as this accommodation is so centrally located, clean and really comfortable after a long day in the mountains.
My fiancé and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here. Chris was a wonderful host who spoiled us with a delicious full Irish breakfast and couldn't have been more helpful in every regard. She even allowed me to use her kitchen for an online work conference call! We both loved the decor and energy of the house and slept very well both nights. We would both highly recommend Ardmore House and we look forward to returning here in the near future.
This is a very clean, nice B&B. Its location to the slieve Bloom mountains and kinnitty castle is perfect. I was there mountain biking. The rental bikes are on site at this B&B. The Pikeman brewery is practically across the road. Cafe is located just down from the brewery. With another pub in the village that serves pizza. Kinnitty castle is located just down the road @ the trailhead. The castle welcomes mountain bikers and hikers for lunch. The host Chis is a great cook, her scones and breakfast are the best! I can’t wait to go back next summer. So if your looking for some genuine Irish hospitality, stay @ the Ardmore country house.
partner booked this bnb looked nice originally but the host was SO rude during our stay. worried leaving this review as she leaves such defensive replies to the ones she doesn't like but has to be said. house was fine, not the cleanest and lots of cobwebs/dust everywhere but it is in the countrysode so fine. hot water was not very good. breakfast was ok. we felt the whole time like we were an inconvenience or in the way and I didnt relax until we left, we spoke to 2 other guests at breakfast and they said the same that the host was rude to them as well
I can't recommend Ardmore Country House highly enough. I stayed there last weekend with a group of friends. It is a beautiful period residence decorated with exquosite antique furniture and artwork. The bedrooms are also tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The ensuite bathrooms are spotlessly clean and the extensive gardens are full of lavender and roses. Delicious home cooked breakfasts are served in the charming period dining room. The location is ideal for exploring the Slieve Blooms' hiking and mountain biking trails. It's a short walk to the village of Kinnity where you can enjoy delicious craft beers in the Slieve Blooms brewery bar and tasty pizzas in Giltraps. Chris is an incredible host; she's great craic, an accomplished cook and goes to great lengths to make your stay a unforgettable experience. I'll definitely be back!…
Had a wonderful stay with some friends in Ardmore Country House. The house and grounds are fabulous! Comfy beds, great showers. Breakfast was delightful, way better than a hotel breakfast. Chris catered for our every need and gave us lots of information about the local hikes. Can’t wait to come back!
Just returned from a wonderful stay with friends in Ardmore Country House. Chis has a beautiful house, breakfast top class, very welcoming and helpful. Location is perfect for hiking and mountain biking and enjoying the friendly village atmosphere, local Cafe and local pubs. I would highly recommend and hope to be back soon.
A few of us recently stayed in the Chris's wonderful B&B whilst we trekked the Slieve bloom way. It was the perfect base for such an adventure and a truly warm environment that one would require after a long day hiking. The B&B is perfect for anyone's needs, from a lovely hot breakfast in the morning (THE SCONES!!!) to the incredibly comfortable beds. I've seen people complain about the shower size but all of my family are all over 6ft (apart from Stephen he's only 5'11" ) and we had zero problems with it. Some people just like a moan. What sets this B&B apart from most was Chris. She is not only helpful with everything that a guest would need. But she is a warm and welcoming lady who makes you feel truley welcome in her home. We all had great chats with her and even shared a drink as she regaled us of her tales of travel. You'd be remiss not to spend a few hours in Chris's company. I look forward to staying here again. And I know you will too once you've stayed.…
Location was good for the event we were attending at the Castle; room was large and spacious. Water pressure in the shower is great! However: cleanliness in parts was not the best - shower flooded due to the amount of hair in the drain and the water bottle lid was covered in black mould. The room was very good in terms of value, but (and I say this hesitantly given the rather cutting replies to any critical reviews), our welcome was not particularly warm. We had emailed the host prior to booking to confirm that we would be arriving half an hour later than the 7pm check in cutoff and were assured it was fine; however we received a phone call asking for our ETA (not sure if this email had been forgotten as sent several months prior). However upon arrival the host seemed quite hassled with us. We were also pressured several times to pay in cash which we were not comfortable with. We were chastised as the card payment app “takes a percentage” and told to drive to Birr (a 30 minute round-trip) to get cash out. We refused and felt this put a dampener on the trip. One more thing (which may be personal preference) but we locked our bedroom, and whilst we were out, someone came in to make the bed. I think it would be a nice touch to check before entering a locked bedroom (eg in hotels you can put a housekeeping request on the doorknob). I’d say for the price paid the venue was fine, but I did not feel particularly welcome during my stay.…
Beautiful house with all the facilities required for a one-night stay. Christine was such a lovely host and provided great recommendations. Also provided us with tea and cake on arrival. Breakfast of a full Irish, cereals and scones was delicious. Would definitely stay again!
