My sister and daughter wanted to stay at an Irish castle and the lovely folks at Dartfield Country Estates recommended Kinnitty Castle. It was all we expected and more. Granted we went off season (October) and we each had a suite (mine was the Ingram suite (although I kept referring to it as the Instagram suite)). We were initially impressed...

Spent two nights at a wedding here some good & bad. The good - quaint castle with long history, beautiful surroundings with nice walks in woods around the castle (even though a little confusing, signage could be improved). Room small but clean with comfortable bed and got very peaceful sleep. The bad - staff seemed a little casual, not very...

Stayed here for a wedding on 30 September 2016. Upon reaching the estate I was blown away. The grounds are gorgeous with a lovely drive up the castle, which in itself was amazing. It feels like a trip back in time but with modern luxury. The staff were friendly and checked us in quickly. The room we stayed in was...

If you want pretty, pretty modern place, this is NOT it. This is original castle from floors to furniture that have been refurbished and painted. Limited guest, old style hallways, no lift and great old, old, old tapestries and paintings. This is an authentic castle that has been redone in old style. Not super clean as old castles weren't but...

As many reviewers have said the place is in need of a great deal of refurbishment - which I was advised would start in January. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay here - Our room was huge as was the bathroom - the furniture is in keeping with the venue and the beds clean and comfortable. If you start looking closely...

Had lunch here with some friends recently whilst visiting Kinnitty for a night. What a super surprise to find this magnificent building. Real old world. The food was delicious and the setting just made it all. Highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kinnitty Castle, is close to the picturesque village of Kinnitty, Co. Offaly set beautifully against a backdrop of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The Castle has a long and turbulent history. Dating originally from 1209, Kinnitty was destroyed and rebuilt not once but twice and yet it retains character and oozes charm. Kinnity is in a great location only 90 minutes from Dublin and is a great stop off point for journeys west or southwards.
