The setting of El Alqumista has to be the best of the hotels in Zipolite- in a slightly sheltered part on the west end of the beach, but with beautiful views back along the whole beach. There are no concrete or high buildings on this side of the beach- only palapas made of wood and thatched- so it felt more...

The setting of El Alquimista is dreamy. I couldn't ask for a better place to get away from civilization but still have hot water & a bar :) Unfortunately we had enough problems that I would definitely not return and would give a disclaimer to anyone considering a stay there. Keep in mind that this is a very bare type...

This room had probably the best view I have ever had from any hotel. I watched Zipolite beach curve off around the corner as huge Pacific waves came crashing onto shore a few metres from our private balcony. Simply incredible. More generally the hotel is well looked after and the beach restaurant is good. Mosquito net required at night when...

Not much to say beside that we were in pure heaven! The itself is great, and it's location even better! The bar/restaurant is very good, and at night it is close to being magical. We hope to come back one day!

We stopped for lunch at El Alguimiste and I just wanted to say that the grilled lobster was really really good. My friends also enjoyed their meals and the beach is lovely! (As long as you are ok with the nudists)

We chose this place for the last two nights of our three week Mexican adventure and it was perfect. The cabin was spacious enough and had a great terrace where to relax after a hot day at the beach. Staff were lovely and helpful. We were perhaps a bit unlucky with the season as it looked like they were doing...

My partner and I spent last week at El Alquimista as part of a men's yoga retreat. There were a bunch of us from Toronto and Montreal, and I think this was the hotel's first time catering to an on-site retreat. The entire week was fantastic. Most of the rooms are actually free-standing thatched roof cabanas with bathrooms. Basic amenities...
