A place to stay between other places. The rooms are large and well furnished, well above average for East Africa. They come with a large flat screen and decent range of channels. The bathrooms are spotless and right up to date. There is a large bar/restaurant, no wi-fi and that's about it!

Small town, just a fuel stop really... but just of the road, an oasis with trees, palm, green grass and the friendliest people in Africa. It started to rain, and camping seemed to be a chore...Daisy assisted us in getting chalets, even-though the was a conference in progress. Nice meal in the restaurant, perfect place to break the long road from...

Lodge is good for one night stop-over. Rooms are spacious, some rooms are renovated, some - are not. Staff is very helpful, and assisted with fumigating the room. Restaurant is good for lunch and dinner, but breakfast is so-so (artificial butter and neon red colour of jam) Anyway, you can add some eggs to your breakfast for extra charge. No...

We have stayed at Chimwemwe Lodge before, were however surprised to see a price increase from 550 Zambian Kwacha last year to 750 Zambian Kwacha this time (in dollars they charged 79 USD). Also last time everything was new and 100 % in shape, this time the first bugs had made their way into the room and the toilet brush...

Simple, but decorated with love, very clean chalets with tv and hot water. The food is tasty and the service fast and efficient, the waiter even found a bottle of South African dry red wine. What more would one expect?

We camped here with rooftop tents. The space is a tarmac area next to a big and clean ablution block, so no wilderness feeling. The location, next to the main road to Petauke causes some "noise". Price for camping is about EUR 10,- pp/night. Restaurant serves local dishes at cheap prices. Theey have also cabins for rent. Good for stop...

An overnight stop between destinations. Service was good, the rooms offered were basic but comfortable with a decent shower. The majority of the staff were kind and friendly and the setting quite pleasant. The restaurant has a limited local menu and breakfast buffet with cereal, tea/coffee toast etc. We stayed twice during our road trip from Malawi to South Africa...

On the road between Lusaka and Chipata is the small market town of Petauke, and just far enough off the highway is the Chimwemwe Lodge. We were welcomed warmly by the proprietor, and shown to our large en suite motel style rooms where we parked. The white, black and gold themed rooms were perfectly clean with good linen and towels....

We stayed in tents on a Nomad tour but the general rooms seemed better than we expected considering the fairly remote location. There didn't seem much to do in the area but OK for a stopover. The showers apparently had hot water but it didn't seem to work very well. Also no wifi.

Simple lodge with private bungalows and clean beds The Bathrooms are getting redone, but manageable for one night's stay. Close to a busy road which can be loud out night. Easy and convenient stop along an overland tour.
