If I were cold-hearted and ruthless, I might complain about the little bits of black mould on a couple of tiles in the shower. Or the fact that the bed seemed to have a slight sag across its middle. Or the lack of decent lighting. But all that pales against the drop-dead views from the rooms, the plentiful hot water, the wonderful food in the restaurant, and the joy with which Tonino and Antoinella look after their guests. We were treated to an Ape tour of old and new Tiriolo, with Tonino positioning us for the perfect photo that he took at each stop. When we had to leave very early in the morning, Antionella went and found me a styrofoam cup so I could take my coffee with me. Our meals were truly superb, and on the last night we were offered a tot of the best amaro I've ever sampled.…
We stayed in a suite one rainy night. We had a beautiful view! Everything was spotless. Staff were warm and welcoming. The food and house wine upstairs in the restaurant was outstanding! Breakfast was very nice. Thank you!
The hotel is immaculate fantastic service very comfortable the restaurant is first class. You can enjoy breakfast the pasta dishes are to die for & the manzo dish is mmmmmmm words can't describe it is a must the staff are wonderful it also has an outside pizzeria
Tiriolo's distinction is that from its perch in the Appenines in the narrowest part of the "toe of the boot," it is perhaps the only town in Italy from which one can simultaneously see both the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Hence the name of this hotel, I Due Mari. Tiriolo is a town quite representative of old Calabria, with all the somewhat downtrodden charm that one would expect of such a place. There are an attractive main piazza, some wonderful cobblestone streets to explore, several breathtaking viewpoints, and a hilltop town park. The Due Mari is certainly the best and possibly the only place to say in this town. It also has a good restaurant.
