Room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff was certainly not really friendly like the staff we had at another hotel last year. Beach and chairs are very nice. Food is just ok. Breakfast was usually disappointing as staff was not attentive or cared about service.
Rosa del Viento is almost at the very end of the beach road where you can really feel colse to the nature reserve of Sian Kaan, The hotel itself is lovely, with palm trees surrounding the garden rooms. All of the rooms are just a few steps to the beach so we could wake up and enjoy a gorgeous Caribbean sunrise. The rooms are simple but comfortable with a large bathrooms, with air conditioning we didn't even need! The included breakfast was excellent, and the staff incredibly friendly. I would make a note that we note more traffic on Tulum's Boca paila road so we gave ourselves a f¡good 45 minutes to drive to town from RDV. It's worth it.
I’ve been to Tulum many times and previously have stayed in Ahau, Nomade, B Tulum & Coqui Coqui. I booked last minute for a friends 40th & as Be Tulum had no rooms left I took whatever was available closeby. I booked here with low expectations due to the v low price per night. How wrong I was. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel is incredibly well kept, staff are pleasant, air conditioned clean & comfortable rooms. Breakfast was prompt & delishious. Super quiet location. I’m not sure this place can be beaten on what you get for the price. It’s incredible value. Sure it doesnt have the spa or 5 star amenities of Be Tulum but it’s also a tenth of the price.
The hotel is not equipped for international guests. It does not have any sympathy for jet lagged customers who might want a cup of coffee at 6 am. The breakfast starts at 8 and the staff are quite hostile to anyone approaching the restaurant or asking for anything earlier. They dont have coffee pots in room, no room service and no phones in the rooms . Their is no self service station set up either. Should someone be sick out of hours, they would have to go to the lobby by themselves outside and hope someone who understands english could help them . The Front desk check-in lady on the evening of 19th Dec should be removed to the back office as she is not warm or friendly nor compromising in any way. The manager did make some effort for which I was grateful but when I was giving him suggestions after our stay, he too became defensive. He said this was his hotel policy.? To provide a little extra to your guest was not . The food in the restaurant was average and adequate. Nothing to write home about. The beach is a real draw but there are hundrerds of hotels all along. I will not choose this place if I come here again.…
Pros: - The grounds are beautiful, and right on the beach. The beach is pristine. There are different types of chaise-lounges - under shade and in the sun. The hotel provides towels as well. - The staff was wonderful - especially Jose Manuel and Jose. They were very helpful and friendly towards us and our baby. - The housekeeping was great - the room was very clean. While our housekeeper was not such an artist, my parents' room's housekeeper made different and beautiful animal shapes out of the towels each and every day. - The room was thoughtfully appointed - there were plenty of shelves, which comes in really handy when traveling with a baby - lots to unpack and need within easy reach!) - The bed was comfortable, and did not squeak at all (which is important when you have a light sleeper baby!) - The hotel provides breakfast - there is a buffet of fresh fruits and pastries; plus, you can order eggs however you like them. - The hotel has masseuses that come to the beach and set up massage tables every day - both masseuses were extremely talented and it was lovely to get massages right on the beach, to the sound of the waves. - The hotel also has ample parking (off the street and guarded 7/24), which is so important in Tulum. Cons: - There were too many mosquitos in the room and on the beach. We got bit too much both in the room and while getting the massages. - Also, my parents said the tap/shower water in Room 7 smelled like sewage. Room for Improvement: - I would like better wifi - especially in the rooms, but that might not be possible, due to limitations in Tulum's infrastructure - I would love it if the hotel invested in some mattresses and sheets for the baby cribs. (Currently they just put multiple king-sized sheets in the crib, which is a standard pack n play - it's a good quality crib.) Bottom Line: Overall, unlike most hotels on the strip, Rosa del Viento is not over-hyped and pretentious - it is just perfect for families with young children. Adjust your expectations - don't expect a 5-star luxury resort (if that is what you are looking for, this is not the place for you. There is no phone or fridge in the room. But for a 3-star hotel, there are some amenities you don't even find at 4-star hotels or have to specifically ask for - like robes.) If you are looking for a lovely, thoughtfully appointed, clean hotel with amazing staff on a pristine beach, you will love Rosa del Viento!…
