The guy managing the place is putting serious effort to make Mama's a nice and enjoyable traveler's nest, and he is mostly successful. Here are my reasons for saying this. Starting from the highlight, the breakfast is really remarkable; they serve a nicely prepared dish instead of the usual hostel cereal and jam combo, and the coffee is tasty and...

Hi there, First of all thanks so much for your feed-back, we take reviews really seriously. My sincere apologies for what happened. This is not acceptable at all and we will be taking further action to make sure that this is not happening again. We have rarely a bad review in terms of behaviour of one of our staff; because...

I stayed here with 2 friends in a private dorm and it was just perfect. It's very nicely laid out with the reception and a sociable area with hammocks and tables running through the middle of the rooms. All the staff were very friendly and answered all of our 100s of questions we had, special shout out to Arson who...

This hostel won the title of the best in all of North America, so we had high hopes and in general it lived up to them. It's got a great setup - a big long table in a central courtyard which effectively forces you to be sociable. Lots of artwork on the walls. Wonderful wonderful wonderful and inventive cooked breakfasts...

This is a friendly place. Breakfast is great. The staff especially Jose are all very helpful and fun. Ask them anything about the local area, they know it all. We spent our 1st few nights in a large dorm room which was basic. But you get what you pay for. It's pretty cheap. Upgraded to a double with ensuite for...

I could only stay 2 nights at the hostel but would have loved to stay longer. I really enjoyed the friendliness and good vibes from all the staff. I received great advices about places to go to, where to find cheap transport, what to visit and I found it very easy to meet other people thanks to the daily activities...

This hostel is hands down one of the best places I have ever stayed. José and his staff are welcoming and friendly, readily giving any advice needed. The breakfast on offer are worth it alone. The hostel is extremely clean and in a great location. It was quiet yet still had a great vibe. It made our stay in tulum...

Amazing staff who go out of their way to help you, are genuine and make you feel right at home. Very helpful with planning our days and advice, even offered bike rental discount. Great location and delicious free breakfast. Left with a smile everytime. Couldn't ask for more!

My friend and I found this place to be overrated, not because it failed to cover its bases as a hostel, but because at least one staff member lacked professionalism in a serious way. On two separate occasions--during a two-night stay!-- we heard him make disparaging comments about guests to other patrons at the hostel. At one point, I overheard...
