I was planning on staying here for 3 nights and ended up staying for 6. My bed was massive and comfy (they let you share a bed so if you are with a friend or a couple it’s much cheaper!) and the room was always clean stayed cool even though the air-con was only on at night. The shower was...

Chalupa is a great little hostel, right on the road to the beach in Tulum but a little walk to Tulum center (15-20 mins). It is clean and the dorms are nice and large. I was in a dorm for 4 ppl and the beds were actually double beds. Great place for vegetarians since they advise everyone there that no...

I only stayed for a couple of nights here. I wasn't given much info on the hostel from staff and struggled to get any info on surrounding areas. I did however really like the atmosphere on the roof in the evenings watching films. The owner was a great guy and really laid back. I wanted to stay for a few...

So before you think about booking a bed here - the location is not anywhere near what is shown on any third party map sites, or third party booking sites! If you carefully read the directions given by the hostel themselves on your booking confirmation you'll see that it's on the corner at the major intersection of Av. Tulum and...

Excelent place, good kitchen, helpful staff, good vibes. A/C was only on during night as electricity costs a lot in Mexico. And this is a cheap hostel. You want 24/7 AC, you go to a hotel and pay more for it. In the dorm there was a big fan cooling the air all the time. I had no problem having...

Do not be tempted to go there for certain amenities because you could be disappointed. 1- There is a pool but it is broken, dirty, empty and therefore not functional 2- They have a/c in the room but DO NOT let you use it until 9 AT NIGHT. Well it is during the hot day time that you might need...

We stayed in 5 places in Tulum and visited 2 more. Tulum town does not have many options for budget travellers, although their midrange boutique hotels are fantastic. Of the options for budget travel we stayed in Weary Traveller and Chalupa Hostal. Chalupa Hostal is everything that Weary Traveller is not, but unfortunately when we went back the second time...

We checked into this hostel and asked where we could hire bikes, the staff pointed us in the direction of a place down the road. We found out later that the hostel itself has bikes to hire to its guests so we were a bit confused at why we had not been offered them. It consequently took 2 days to...

A good place to meet people with a comunal area/ kitchen and roof deck. Decent rooms with ac and very friendly people running the place. Only a 5 min cab ride to the beach but close to town which is a good compromise overall.
