Completely lovely stay; perfect in every way. My two 20 year old children and I stayed at El Pez for 5 nights in early April. The staff at the hotel is fantastic--too many to name them all--Jesus and David in the restaurant were particularly lovely; Gilbert at the front desk was very helpful. Really, the entire staff is wonderful. We stayed during COVID. The hotel took excellent COVID precautions. All the staff wore masks and the desk arranged a COVID test for our departure. The hotel was spotless; in a safe area; and I felt comfortable with the level of security. It is located in a great spot in Tulum--right on the water and generally between the two hotel zones so it was close to everything but quiet and no crowds on the beach or nightclub noise. If you want to go to those places--and we did--you just hop in a cab or walk along the beach but then come back to a quiet and calm atmosphere. The swimming on the beach here is a little rocky, but a 5 minute walk brings you to a sandy beach. The tea service at night was wonderful--we came back from dinner or being out and had a warm cup of tea and chocolates delivered to the room. Coffee is outside your door when you wake up. There are beach towels and a bag to lighten your packing. They arranged for bicycles. I would stay here again without hesitation.

This treasure is just what I wanted to celebrate a wedding anniversary and birthday. Large beautiful and tranquil room just steps from the beach: we literally opened the door and walked to the chaise lounges with umbrellas where we stayed all day. I could not have asked for more. Delicious juice concoctions available along with other goodies on the menu. Service was superb and it was easy to either have dinner on site or close by. This place is for those of you looking for a quieter, more peaceful experience in the Colibri family. I would go back in a heartbeat! Highly recommended!! .

My husband & I booked our stay (7 days, 6 nights) at El Pez hoping for a relaxing, warm vacation and that was definitely our experience! We arrived & were greeted with a welcome drink & seated for lunch while we waited for our room to be ready (we arrived 2 hours early). The food is delicious and fresh and the service is incredible. Everyone is extremely friendly, helpful & addresses you by name. You definitely feel very at home! Denisse, Maricela, Gilbert & Arturo at the front desk were very accommodating and helped us to borrow bicycles to get around town, ordered us reliable taxis at reasonable rates, & answered all of our questions with a smile. Esau was very helpful with our bags & bikes. The restaurant staff provided warm, attentive service & graciously helped me practice my Spanish (which has serious room for improvement, but they were patient with me). In particular, Etza, David, Armando & Ivan made our trip especially memorable. The restaurant manager, Will, was lovely as well and arranged to have special chicken soup made for us while we were feeling ill on Wednesday (pro tip: do not eat the food at Azulik). The scenery of the gorgeous blue Caribbean Sea was unparalleled. We had a gorgeous view from our room (Sea Front King) which had a comfortable & convenient balcony to relax on & listen to the waves. As animal lovers, we especially enjoyed watching the pelicans sitting on their rock, flying overhead & diving into the water to catch fish. Our room was immaculately cleaned every afternoon; each morning we were left coffee & tea by our door, and every evening, we were delivered little chocolates & herbal tea. Unfortunately this area of the sea is much too rocky for swimming, but it’s easy enough to borrow a bicycle and ride 20 minutes down the street to their sister hotel, La Zebra, which has a classic white sand beach perfect for swimming. We visited twice and the service there was impeccable as well. The entire Riviera Maya region is experiencing a problem with Sargassum seaweed covering the beaches, but El Pez & their sister properties have people diligently cleaning the sand all day long. El Pez provided a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, unlike many of the other hotels in the area that attract a younger/party-oriented crowd. This is just perfect for us, as we are not that wild anymore. We also noticed that some of the other places we visited were swelteringly hot, but we never experienced that at El Pez, because the in-unit AC cooled the room & the steady sea breeze kept the entire property comfortable. Overall, we are very impressed with the whole Colibri group & can’t wait to return!

Jesus was a wonderful server and I tried a Mayan pumpkin spread that I loved and also loved that they had on menu. So glad I stopped in and discovered also a great little beach bay to swim at after. Loved!
