Let's start with the rating- should be 3.5 stars, but I thought that giving 4 stars would sway attention from some issues/problems. The bad: Rooms: they are dated and lack character (no Mexican tiles in the bath, no Mexican sink or mirror or architectural features). The bath area is very small, and to top it, they have a tired shower...

Dear Suede2, Thank you for choosing Petit Lafitte for your family vacation. We appreciate your comments both the positive and not so positive and we would like to expand a little on some that need it: The hotel consists of two sections: One being the Standard Hotel section which was built in the late 80s. (Yes it is old) the...

This was our third trip to Petit and it was just as wonderful as the previous two. The owners care and it shows in the customer service , the cleanliness of the rooms, and landscaping and care of the property. It is a small, relatively quiet hotel where you see most people reading on the beach. It is close by...

Hola Look out 1313 So happy to have you here on a third visit. It sounds like you are becoming one of those repeat costumers that make it a tradition to come to Petit Lafitte every year. That talks about appreciation and loyalty. We wish guests like you know that we appreciate you in return and try to show it...

It is truly a fantastic place, small and quiet and set in a beautiful setting, right on the beach. Far from the all-inclusive resort philosophy, it is more of a boutique type of place. We stayed only two nights in a garden bungalow (n°14) and are a family of 4. The bungalows are beautiful and independent one from the other....

Dear Pierre M. Thank you very much for trying Petit Lafitte during your Mexico vacation. Even if it was a short, two night stay. It seems that you appreciated the small size, right on the beach, conveniently designed spot and the attention to detail that evidently you noticed. A note on the ecological actions we take, like recycling, conserving water...

This place was considerably cheaper than any other beachfront offering that I could find in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, and considerably nicer looking. As the resort is small it makes less of a impact on the stunning beach - and lets the beach speak for itself. There are loungers and hammocks - but its nothing like the barrages of...

Hello tubbymctubbington, We are honored by your positive review. Thank you. You traveled a long way to come to Mexico and we are glad that your overall experience was nice, specially the days spent at Petit Lafitte. It sounds like you were at least in one other (and large) hotel. Which makes your Petit Lafitte review even more relevant. We...

We really dislike big all-inclusive resort hotels and were looking for a smaller place in Playa del Carmen (where we chose to stay for its proximity to good scuba diving sites). As far as we could tell, Petit Lafitte was the smallest place in PDC which was still right on the beach. We got a 15% off special booking 30+...

Dear theakmeng, Greetings to Washington DC, and thank you for your stay at Petit Lafitte. We’re delighted to read your review. Evidently you are not the “all inclusive” large hotel type, and we are glad that you found what you were looking for at Petit Lafitte. I was wondering if you were able to go diving, as you seemed to...

The beach was clean. There was good swimming a bit to the left in the water (directly in front had rocks a few feet into water) Lots of hammocks and beach chairs under palapas. The sand on the resort was soft and clean. There is a small swing set and slide structure near the dining area which is nice for...

Nice Megan! We are glad that you decided to come with your husband and children to Petit Lafitte and found the relaxation and the experience you were looking for. Bungalows are definitely convenient for families like yours, as they are a bit more spacious than the regular rooms. Some people seem to be concerned with the fact that the hotel...

We were awarded a work trip at a larger more expensive resort in the Playa del Carmen area. We wanted to arrive a day early with our friends but were not thrilled with the large resort pricing. “All the rooms are fine with balconies. It honestly doesn't matter if you are in the front building or the back. The bungalows are nice as they have a loft that's perfect for kids. We've stayed in both and been happy. Haven't stayed in the newer bungalows in the back facing the garden. If you want to hear the ocean, I'd suggest the bungalows facing the water. ”
