Nestled in a prime spot, Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen is lauded for its stunning location and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and diverse pools. While the hotel's cleanliness and luxurious amenities receive high marks, some guests feel the value doesn't match the expense, mentioning additional charges. Room comfort is generally celebrated for their spaciousness, yet a few visitors highlight ventilation issues. The service at Secrets Moxche is often praised for its professionalism, and while the pools are adored, the beach experience sometimes falls short of expectations.

We are currently here on the Moxche side. Please don’t let the negative Nancy’s dissuade you from coming.
I have stayed at every kind of resort imaginable from Hostel’s to The Four Seasons. This place is wonderful.
If you expect it to be the Four Season then that’s on you. It’s in a similar price range as a Four Seasons but there you will spend $500+ a day on food and drinks. So it’s not a fair comparison being all inclusive here.
The hallways ARE dim, easy fix though if you take your sunglasses off…
Walkways are a bit uneven with a rough texture but unless you are unsteady on your feet or have mobility challenges you will be just fine. When your feet are wet it’s much safer than tile.

So far the food has been great. We are Vegan and I have never been to a resort as Vegan friendly as this. Every restaurant has a vegan menu and there is an entire restaurant that is vegan.
We eat a little earlier than most(noon lunch and 6-6:30 dinner) and have had no issues getting in right away.
Service has been very good also, far superior to anything you find in the states these days. I forgot to bring tip money one time and mentioned it to our waiter and he immediately reassured me that it wasn’t necessary. Which I have never ever experience in Mexico.

The room is very nice, a bit of a musty smell like many have mentioned but it is a jungle here so light the incense or open the giant sliding balcony door if it bothers you!

The beach sand is fine with zero seaweed, though there is the occasional seaweed smell depending on the way the wind blows. Worst part of the beach is the giant sand filled bags blocking the wave erosion.

There is a pool for every kind of person. Loud party pool, quiet cenotes, sandy lagoon pool and more.

We booked Secrets Moxche but were offered an upgrade for Secrets Impression which was reasonably priced. Our first night we weren't sure where to have dinner and stumbled upon the Seaside Beach Club restaurant which we didn't think was open but was for some reason. The staff there, Fernanda, Ivan and Charlie created a dinner atmosphere that was unforgettable. Everyone at these resorts asks if you are celebrating anything special, which we were. They brought us a special dessert, white roses and made our first night one to be cherished. The food was delicious.

A few days later we were eating at the French restaurant Bisou, with a very experienced and attentive waiter, Saul We also got to see Ivan again as this is another location in which he serves. Fernanda found us there asking what we were doing for our anniversary dinner the following evening. She encouraged us to eat at the Italian restaurant, Allora, where she works, at 7pm the next evening. At Allora, we once again had an elegant, delicious dining experience with exceptional staff and special anniversary treatment, led by Fernanda and Joanna.

We did have an opportunity to dine at Teodoro restaurant for dinner and had a unique experience, with delicious and beautifully prepared options from Chef Alexis. They were very accommodating with some changes we asked to make.

Overall, we had great food, met some great staff including our UVC friends, Salma and Lara, our Impression butlers Cesar and Daniela. Salma sought us out on our anniversary to give us a gift which was very special to us. Fernanda sought us out before we left to say goodbye. Cesar and Daniela teamed up to make sure we had everything we needed and created a beautiful display in our room on our anniversary. We have just not found this kind of connectivity with staff very often and it is certainly due to the open hearts that Fernanda, Salma, Cesar and Daniela displayed in making sure our anniversary felt special to us.

In closing, other than some windy days, we had a great stay at this resort and plan to return at some point. There was not an unfriendly staff person, everyone was very attentive and personable - including David at the main pool. He was very helpful in assisting us in finding seating and setting up our towels. I wish I had recorded more names because so many of them deserve our thanks.

We’ve just returned from an 11 night stay at the Secrets Moxche. The level of service from all the staff, surroundings and food were excellent.

I’m gluten free and arranged an appointment with Gaby the nutritionist on our second day. Gaby spent time to understand my food preferences and requirements, daily suggesting meals for our chosen restaurant that could be made gluten free and even arranging special gluten free versions of meals with the chef. Our favourite restaurant was Bisou and Gaby arranged for a filet instead of the beef wellington which was delicious. All the waiting staff asked about dietary requirements and offered gluten free bread. The buffet restaurant was well maintained and clearly labelled with gluten options and the waiting staff offered daily for the chef to walk me through all gluten free options available. Ember was also an excellent restaurant with 4 steaks available without paying for an upgrade and every steak was delicious!

The pools are beautiful and as many people have said previously the beach is suffering from coastal erosion and sargassum but hotel work hard to keep the sargassum to a minimum. Due to the erosion walking along the beach is an issue but all of playa del Carmen is being impacted and this is out of the hotel control.

We stayed in a standard tropical view room and didn’t feel the need to upgrade you still get access to all restaurants apart from 1 and the drinks served are all branded so we did not feel that we needed to be in preferred club!

Special thank you to Gaby for making our anniversary special with a gluten free cake surprise in our room❤️😊

We recently stayed at Secrets Moxche Playa Del Carmen and had an overall enjoyable experience, though there were some areas for improvement.

The resort grounds are truly beautiful, with lush foliage and an abundance of pools, though by the afternoon, the water felt more like a warm bath. The beach isn’t the focal point of this resort, so if you’re a beach lover, you may want to keep that in mind.

Service throughout the resort was mostly average. No one really stood out, except for our maid, Ana, who went above and beyond. She made special touches like folding our clothing left on the ground and providing nightly turndown service, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the poolside waiters and bartenders took a bit longer than expected to serve drinks and didn’t engage with us much.

The dining experience was mixed. Allora was hands down the best restaurant, with tender and flavorful steak and excellent pasta and risotto. However, Suki and Embers were disappointing. It took 45 minutes to get our sushi at Suki, and at Embers, we waited 1.5 hours for our steak, which unfortunately was tough and lacked flavor. The ribeye tasted like lighter fluid. We didn’t try Bisou, Bamboo, or Dos Almas. Additionally, the Asado Grill night was poorly organized—you had to check into Seasoul just to get a seat before going through the grilling stations, which created unnecessary confusion.

The entertainment was average, and the daytime entertainment staff didn’t seem particularly motivated to get guests involved in activities.

Overall, the value of the resort was just average, primarily due to the service inconsistencies and food quality issues. While the resort has a lot of potential with its stunning scenery and standout restaurant Allora, there’s room for improvement in other areas.

What a truly breathtaking resort. The views, the pools, the room - all gorgeous, and truly first rate. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here for our honeymoon with a few small notes.

Most of the food options were exquisite- notably Suki, the Japanese restaurant, and the immense buffet at Market Cafe for breakfast. They do up charge you in a few of the restaurants for food like steak options - which feels odd for a place so expensive already. All-inclusive should mean all-inclusive, or else, don’t offer it on the menu. Did not enjoy the French Restaurant, Bisou, or Ember, the steak restaurant, but everything else was of high quality and variety of options.

I was highly impressed by the entertainment group at the resort. I played beach volleyball multiple times and loved the enthusiasm from Sergio, Felix, Victor, Julio and the rest of the team. They had a great variety of options for entertainment, even on rainy days.

The amenities were truly state of the art and gorgeous. Our room had a private swim out pool that was worth every extra penny. All the pools, lagoons, etc were very well maintained and felt very tropical. You could find private nooks everywhere or enjoy more populated areas to meet others.

The spa was *chefs kiss*. We had 80 minute massages and hydrotherapy and this was easily one of our favorite days - though it did knock us out afterward for a well earned, deep nap! I love my masseuse Jessica, as well as our hydrotherapy guide Mattieas. Both were incredible and made us feel well taken care of. The spa facilities are also gorgeous.

There is a “optional” presentation that sucked up 2 hours of our first day there trying to get us to buy into their vacation plan. But as honeymooners, it’s not something we could even remotely consider price wise. Be warned this is part of the deal here. We sat through it for vouchers for the spa, but not sure if I would make that same decision again in the future. It was too much of a time suck and pulls you away from your vacation.

All in all - we met some truly lovely people here, and loved the customer service and options abound. All things mentioned, we would of course visit again.

My wife and I spent a week at Secrets Moxche to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. We are veteran Mexico resort guests with more than 20 trips over more than 10 resorts. We wanted some place new, and our travel agent April at Beach Bum recommended Secrets Moxche. Thanks, April.

We had a preferred club junior suite with partial ocean view. Our suite was 7th floor with a view similar to the photo. Suite was roomy with a huge shower (you could have a party for four in there) and a roomy outdoor area with a big soaking tub and a lounge bed. Really liked that the suite did NOT have a step down. Only complaint was the pillows were too thick. We both like thin, soft pillows. Asked several times without success. Ended up with divan pillows in pillow cases.

We have stayed at Excellence, Secrets, Palace and several other 4+ properties from Akamal to Playa Mujeures and between. Moxche is right in that group with good food, pools, entertainment staff, pool live music, drink service, etc.

We were disappointed with the sea weed issues and the beach itself was not inviting for a long early morning walk.

We did the Chef’s Tasting at next door sister property Impressions restaurant Teodoro for our anniversary dinner. $250/person including wine pairings and top shelf drinks (Woodford Reserve Bourbon) before and after dinner. Alexander explained every course and wine with precision and sincerity. Thank you! Photo of menu attached.

Other favorite staff were hostess Wendy at buffet and Sea Soul (knew our names by second day), Jacobo at the activity pool and Suliema at Cocoa Cafe (knew our morning coffee carry out by second day).

There are many wonderful resorts in the area. If you are looking to try something new, Moxche is worthy of consideration.

Happy travels!

Wonderful all inclusive adult hotel. The rooms are very well equipped and modern, the hotel looks new.
Fine Dining Fan restaurants offer a variety of exquisite and fresh menus.
The breakfast buffet is spectacular, large and very varied and fresh, ideal for starting the day.
The Ember de Cortes restaurant, the Japanese Suki, the Italian Alora, the French and the Seasoul of Mediterranean food open in the evenings and it is very worth trying them all if the agenda allows. There is always something in line to wait to be seated, more on the weekend, and you have to keep in mind that every night some restaurant closes.
There are events that it usually organizes for its guests, such as “Mexico routes” that is a cultural and gastronomic exhibition of some states of the country, mounted exquisitely with Mexican atmosphere. Every night, the gypsi bar opens, which has the peculiarity of having a “secret” access by the pharmacy, and there is a different entry password every night, and the guest can get it with the waiters or staff.
Multiple swimming pools with different spaces either relaxation or activity according to the preference of the guest.
And best of all is the standard of care and service of the staff! All the staff are very friendly and make the guest feel welcome from check in. Especially Arnold from the bar, Sergio, Jasmine and Aranza entertainment, and super special mention to Paulina pool waitress and David concierge pool area do an extraordinary job of attention. Among many other faces and smiles we receive.

The beach of the hotel is fine but it's not really
Best in Riviera Maya, there is a bit of sargassum, which although the staff is very careful to be cleaning and removing all the time, there can be aroma coming from the sea and the sand on the shore feels muddy, not like white talc as it was in the Riviera Maya, again this is not the fault of the hotel, but what does depend on them they keep in excellent condition beds, towels, palapas. In our case we prefer to spend more time in the pools.

Yes I recommend it as a couple or friends is a great destination in Playa del Carmen!!!

The whole experience at Secrets Moxche was excellent.

The vacation would have been perfect, but for the airport-hotel transfer company who failed and behaved abysmally without being responsible or refunding an apology, I will write you a review other than that, but I will just tell you do not fall, do not use the company Taxi Riviera Maya - Caribbean Transfers, charged all the service in advance and did not show up. But this wasn't the hotel's fault.

First time staying here and am still thinking if we will go back once we evaluate on the do's and don'ts.
Family of 5 with 3 adult kids.
The breakfast buffet is far and away the best all inclusive options we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Highly recommend the avocado toast options and there were 3 omelet stations so no waiting.
Best for lunch was Sea Soul, incredible seafood options - are favorite the ceviche and fish tacos. Only problem was it did get busy and there were no reservations allowed so wait time can be long.
Market cafe also excellent for a quick bite to eat or a healthy juice.
We had dinner in both Suki and Ember and highly recommend both. But you need to be there either at exact opening time or wait for a late table.
If you enjoy nice wine I suggest you purchase at the local supermarket. It is very hard to justify the mark up - Kim Crawford SB is aprox $12 we were charged $80.
Drinks varied from place to place and some whilst saying they were a certain brand just were not - tasted nothing like what they should. In particular Baileys which was retrieved from a back room when ordered.
Staff were very nice and rooms were spotless.
Beach is very poor and full of rocks - not the hotels fault but to be aware.
Sunbeds in the main activity areas were taken very early in the morning and never given up.
DO NOT be conned into taking The Impressions tour for a coupon on excursions. Yes we did and were promised 3 hours max. As we got towards 4 hours and very little patience left the hostility with which we were subjected to for saying we had enough was truly insulting and rude, the general insinuation was we must be stupid!!
We did not spend $20,000 on our christmas vacation to hear that.

Dear Mabelle46, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We’re delighted to hear that your family enjoyed many aspects of your visit, particularly the dining experiences. It’s wonderful to know that Market Café provided a convenient and healthy option during your stay. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and the cleanliness of the rooms, as well as your suggestions regarding wine and drinks. Your feedback about the wine pricing and drink consistency will be shared with our team to ensure we continuously improve. We regret to hear about the challenges you faced with sunbed availability, the beach conditions, and your tour experience, participation in presentations is entirely voluntary, and our sister company strive to ensure they are respectful and informative. While the beach’s natural environment is beyond our control, we aim to enhance every guest’s overall experience and will take your comments into account to improve in these areas. Thank you again for considering our resort and for highlighting the aspects you enjoyed as well as the areas where we can improve. Should you decide to return, we would love the opportunity to make your next visit even more enjoyable. Warm regards, Daniela Rodriguez E-Concierge

Just back from a week in Sunny Cancun. This hotel is stunning. Amazing views of the resort as you walk into the reception.

The staff at this resort are excellent. Thank you to Jose for keeping us on our toes with his quiz games and activities around the pool. He has a great way with people and remembered so many people by their names! David, by the pool each day taking our drinks orders and making sure we were looked after throughout the day, always happy and hard working! Roxanne in the Japanese restaurant impeccable service and happy demeanour. The barmen at Bamboo for remembering our order when we walked in without even asking each night.

There are loads of pools around the resort, each with a different vibe. If you want to be part of the hustle and bustle then there are two main pools or you could find yourself sitting by one of the smaller pools all by yourself. The hotel really does cater for everyone.

The food here is one of the best we've had. No reservations needed. Lots of different choices, but Ember was our favourite.

Throughout the day and evening there is live music played, starting by the pool early morning right through to late evening in different areas. The evening shows where some of the best I've ever seen and well worth going to before heading to the Gypsy club!

The reason for the 4/5 stars is for two things;

1 - Sunbeds being reserved. For a resort of this calibre they really need to do something about people reserving beds by the two main pools and then not turning up for hours. It was ridiculous. We didn't reserve and would eat early and head to the pool around 0830/0900. All the beds in-front of the pool would be gone and for a lot of them you would't see people for a few hours. People were turning up with no where to sit and empty beds where people had 'claimed' them.

2 - The Corporate events / weddings. While they do drive people to the hotel there were a number of occasions during our stay where areas where closed. The main pool was closed one day at 3pm when it was absolutely packed and then again later in the week at 4pm. Some of the other smaller pool areas where closed off for a private pool party or to get it ready for a wedding and then in the evenings the music from these events over powered the live music around Bamboo.

This isn't a cheap resort and travelling from the UK to it does cost a lot of money so the hotel need to consider the areas their closing a bit more carefully or maybe set up a dedicated area to not impact the holidays of a lot of people who have spent a lot of money to get there.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days. It was great in every way.

The hotel is superb, clean, very well maintained everywhere. Garden, paths, beach... Many different spots depending on the desired atmosphere, we loved it.

The different restaurants every evening, excellent with magnificent decor in each place. The food was excellent in every restaurant and at the buffet each morning. Good, fresh and extremely varied. There is something for every taste.
Small dedication to the woman at the omelette stand, always extremely kind and attentive to my desires.
And the chef of the French restaurant "le bisou" who came to our table to discuss his cuisine and ask us for our opinions being French.
We really appreciated this attention and time spent discussing the delicious dishes.
Big up also for the El Suki restaurant and the Sea Soul by the sea.

The spacious room with a view of the swimming pools and sea. I loved the bathtub on the balcony and all the little touches. Full bar, toiletries, hygiene... replenished without asking.
The room service was also impeccable from A to Z
The room was very well maintained by the staff several times a day and always extremely helpful in asking us if we needed anything

ALL the staff including our butler did everything to make sure my friend and I were perfectly comfortable.

Different concerts every day with exceptional artists!!!

A big thank you to Adrian and Rafael who were great with us from start to finish because we had had problems with our "private trip" tour operator
Luckily these 2 gentlemen were there to make our stay fabulous and help us whenever we needed a few things.

A 10/10 at this adults only hotel, which we greatly appreciated being only with adults
